Riot Folk kicks a**, and Anna Roland's wonderful.
While Crass is certainly not a riot grrrl band by any means, especially since they were around ages before such a term was contrived, I don't think it'd be much of a stretch to say that they were near the forefront of the (modern) feminist movement. Eve Libertine was an amazing lyricist and one of my favorite female role models. Check out their albume p***s Envy. It made one of my guy pals cry with guilt (whether that's a good thing or not...).

Elven_hime Anna Roland is an awesome folk singer (not quite rock...but still, ******** awesome). annaroland.com Oh yeah...Riot Folk, the record label she's on, is also great. biggrin Antiproduct was a metal band that existed sometime during the 90's, they were a group of eco-feminist, anarchist women with lyrics that totally kick this patriarchy's a**. i looked up anna roland on the riot folk website and you're right, she totally rocks!! i think i'm a little in love.. but i haven't heard of antiproduct. i should go and look them up.

I agree with you, Eve Libertine was very much an amazing person and a great feminist icon. Same goes for Poly Styrene, though the Xray Spex may not be riot grrrl band but they were great and did contribuit I'm sure to the feminist movement. Oh and the same goes for Aus Rotten, they have wonderful lyrics that promote feminism but they aren't by defenition a riot grrrl band. As for riot grrl bands, Batmobile, Le Tigre and Bikini Kill are the ones I listen to regularly.
