The only thing that made Wren eventually look away was when the flash of light blinded him, and he had to sheild his eyes with an hand. As much as he wanted to look, he couldn't.

When the light finally vanished, he was left with a broken pot and a mess of earth all over his desk. But he didn't care right now. All that he saw was the thing that sat in the middle of the mess.

She giggeled and he melted.

Slowly, akwardly, he opened his arms and stood, gentely scooping her in, instictively mindful of the still-wet and fragile wings on her back. They would harden in time, just like a normal butterfly.

Such tiny wings... How had he known ? Oh, it didn't matter, it didn't matter.

The tiny little lady in his arms burrowed into his chest with a content sigh and suddenly it felt like anything else, anything he had accomplished yet in his life was nothing. He gentely went to comb her hairs with his finger and fuss with her ponytail a bit, not caring in the least now to call his sister and anounce his victory in their little personal bet about who was right about the child's gender. Nothing else mattered anymore.

Hana stiffeled a yawn and he walked out of his room to her own, frowning a bit at the layer of dust that had formed on the furniture that had stood still for almost a year, taking note to dust the whole thing off tommorow. He tucked her in - the toddler gave a slightly unhappy noise when she was put down - but all seemed well as he gave her a gentle kiss on her forehead. "Good night, Hana."

She was asleep soon after that, fatigue having gotten reason of her curiosity. Still, the blue-haired man stood there for a long time, watching her sleep like a little angel and unwilling to leave her side just yet.

Maybe, provably, this was what true, complete happiness felt like.

Dear journal -

Well, I don't have to worry no more. At least, I don't think so, for awhile anyway.

Hana's here. No longer a leaf, but a bright, cute little girl. And she is the most beautiful young lady that I have ever seen. (But, I figure I may be biased ! Heh.)

It is wierd, however, that she has butterfly wings... How did I know ? Or did I somehow influence that ? Im not too sure. A quick research told me her wings mimic those of a Monarch. Maybe that is what she is. Zero says she looks a bit too old to be a baby proper. I guess I can't call her leafybaby now, can I ? She walks a bit, wobbeling would be more the term I guess, and she tries to fly but her wings are much too small. A few falls on the floor and crying sessions later and I believe she's starting to understand that she is pretty much earthbound. She's yet to really talk, beside random string of noises.

Oh, jeez, how am I going to teach this kid to fly, if it comes to that ?

She gets tried easely and sleeps alot, but Zero tells me that's normal for a child her age. We went shopping yesterday, maybe I will take a few pictures later and add them in. Hana's still having troubles with the concept that socks need to stay on her feet.

Lord, she's so cute.

Also, there's this butterfly that made it inside. It seems pretty attached to Hana, oddly enough, and follows her around. It is, ironically, a monarch. I've set a hummingbird feeder inside since it's not all that keen on going back outside. So odd, really - maybe it isn't a normal butterfly ? Things often arn't exactly as they seem, in Gaia...

There's also this... sphere... thing... that I got in the mail this morning. There's a picture of it :

User Image

The wierdest thing is that it was from a woman named Silverah, and to Hana ! No one outside of Zero's family knows she is born yet... Maybe someone that saw us shopping ? Someone from this Eden Project perhaps ? I still have to seek it out. If anything. Hana is going to have to meet more of her kind eventually.

That is pretty much it for the moment. I've been keeping it pretty much safe with sugar water as far as food goes (she refuses to drink plain water, and butterflies have a diet of nectar... Still, I hope this isn't too bad for her...) but now that I know she is old enough, ill start experimenting with foods. Wish me luck !

(Zero says im too giddy about all this. I say she's just jealous. Nyeh !)

Dear journal -

Lord ! Yes, I've said I would write again soon, but I hadn't noticed how time-consuming taking care of a child was ! This is nothing like taking care of Zero's kids... But I don't regret any second of it.

Well, as I've said, I've started experimenting with foods. And I guess the results shouldn't be surprising, but I still managed to be. She will not eat meat, of any kind. She simpely refuses to have anything to do with it after a tiny taste. I guess it might taste pretty bad to her. She also did not seem to feel well afterward, so meat is definitively out. Maybe she does not disgest it ? Anyway, I don't think I will push the issues, ill just have to be creative. She accept eggs well enough as well as nuts, so I can compensate her proteins intake this way.

Also, she isn't fond of most vegetables, beside tomatoes. Small cherry tomatoes are like candy to her - she can't get enough of them. I guess ill buy some tomato plants next spring. Green vegetable are a no-no and carrots barely pass. But im still not worrying because there are...

Fruits. Oh, dear lord, the fruits. My fridge is now full of fruit, Zero couldn't believe it. Peaches, pineapples, cherries, apples, grapes, pears, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, she liked them all ! The only ones she didn't like as much was the blackberries, I guess the sightly bitter taste did it.

So, in dispice her dietetic needs, im about sure ill be able to keep her healthy. (I honestly believe meat wasn't just a toddler caprice. She really did look ill. Vegetables might have be, I will try to keep offering them...)

In other news, Hana's little orb thing bloomed, and dear lord, it is PRETTY. Look at this -

User Image

Even I must admit that is beautiful. The monarch near the flower is the same that I mentionned following my tiny lady, and she has finally named him. On that note, Hana can speak a bit, she can say dada (it was the first word she said !) and Floo. Ence, we named the little butterfly Flow. I must admit it fits.

Now, with halloween approaching, I must find her a costume. Also, I have FINALLY found the address of the Eden Project building ! (Yes, yes, I know.) It was closed when I went last night, but they announced a Halloween party. It will be perfect for her to meet some more of her kind and make friends. (Are they all butterflies, or are they different animals ? I wonder.) Now to find the perfect costume...

It was the worse place to possibly be in with a small child, bar none. Well, Michael had to admit to himself, that wasn't entirely true. He'd rather have Tansi here, then say, in the middle of a firefight. None the less, he tried to keep the bratty young Eden away from toy stores when possible. It was always hell and then some, getting her out again.

Yet she'd spotted it, as they were walking toward the Eden HQ, and that meant there was no help for the detour. It was meant to be a good day, a good day for her. And that meant, perhaps, giving into her demands, at least a little bit. Otherwise, she'd start screaming, and he'd nearly lose it, and, well, that wasn't such a good day for either of them.

This, though, only put off those events. Michael could see them looming over the horizon, ready to hit the moment he tried to get her out again.

"Da'deeee..." The young girl tugged gently at his hand, staring up at him with bright guileless eyes and a sweet smile. "I 'ike you."

And then her eyes fell on the wall of stuffed animals, and if she liked him, well, it looked like she liked those more. Eager hands reached for a giant stuffed frog, almost as big as she was. And from over it's fluffy green head, she laughed up at him. If she wasn't so damn cute, it wouldn't be such a problem, he thought.

Silverah
Nahuel had made a few clumsy attempts at walking back in the apartment, but all that had resulted in was a pair of skinned knees and a few shed tears. Finding herself sorely unprepared to deal with a toddler, and her home even more sorely unready, Eshaa made the decision that a run to the toystore was in order as a distraction.

Nahuel was picking at the band-aids on his knees periodically as he squirmed in her arms, but Eshaa was not putting him down for him to either crawl or try to walk on this kind of pavement.

Finally, they arrived at the little toy store and walked into the air conditioned fluorescent-lit building.

"So, Nahuel, whatcha want to play with?" asked Eshaa.

The boy looked around and another feral grin crossed his face. Eshaa decided to take him towards stuffed animals first. Those were fun, after all. She and her cousins had all had those as kids. Though these hardly looked like the plush bears her grandfather had bought in the hospital gift shop. These were fancy.

Nahuel gave a grab for a brightly-patterned parrot.

"You like that one?" asked his mother.

The jaguar child made an attempt to bite the doll, which Eshaa narrowly deterred.

"No, you can't bite these. They're not ours. They belong to the store."

Nahuel dropped the parrot and fought his way out of Eshaa's arms to crouch on the floor, staring at a large display of plush jungle creatures. His eyes fell on an enormous frog, already occupied by another child. He scooted over and poked the bulbous creature. Was it edible?

Lisirra
"Mama TOYS!" Caprice exclaimed, and, letting go of said mama's hand, she was off like a spark.

"Reesy, no!" Lisi Larkin returned, yelling as though she would at her dogs. The bookworm hadn't quite yet gotten used to this..."parenting" thing, but she had quickly warmed up to the child. That hadn't been hard to do. Caprice was fun and affectionate; plus Lisi was glad to see she had a natural curiosity about the world. The librarian didn't think she could handle raising a child who didn't want to learn...even if it was a child who came from a leaf.

Of course, taking care of a toddler wasn't exactly the same as training dogs. Toddlers rarely obey. Especially this one. "Come back here!" But it was too late. She was fast for a girl with the soul of an animal that had no legs. Lisi just couldn't understand it.

She had decided to take a walk with Caprice, instead of putting her into that silly bicycle sidecar. Caprice needed to be exercised, just like her dogs - perhaps even moreso. She was a bundle of energy, and Lisi was nearly running ragged trying to keep up with her. Though only in her twenties, Lisi was no match for this toddler. Maybe it would be good for me though, Lisi thought to herself. Maybe now I'll get more exercise.

Sighing, Lisi had no choice but to follow her into the toy store. "I suppose this can't be all bad," she told herself. "She does need something to entertain herself..."

Already, Lisirra had realized that though she was young, Caprice was bright. She needed to be enriched, needed something to keep her smart mind busy. Hopefully this store would have a decent selection of educational toys, the librarian thought to herself as she stepped into the air conditioning and attempted to locate her toddler.

Wren Stardrifter
Wren had to eventually come to a solid conclusion.

He had never bothered with halloween. He had never dressed up before. And thus, he had no idea where one could buy costumes.

...

Oops.

There was still the classical "white sheet with holes", but that would be over his dead body. No, his little lady needed something... beautiful ! Something... special.

Well, the toy store seemed as good of an idea to start at than anything else, and the young butterfly could have used more toys after all. She had those dolls he had picked up eons ago and that was pretty much it.

Hana walked wobbingly while latched on her father's hands, and when Wren realised she was getting tired, he scooped her up in his arms to enter the store. She couldn't quite walk without aid yet, but this was a good begining than anything - he wasn't keen on having her faceplant in a toy store.

He looked for costumes, but Hana had other plans - she spotted the plushies first thing and tugged on a tuff of green and blue hair until Wren turned. "Dadaaaa...~"

Wren eyed the plush, then the price. "Can't have that one, pretty lady. It's a bit too expensive for dada." He couldn't help but smile when she pouted. "Pout all you want, we can't take that one. See, there's a frog over there, it's pretty, no ?"

Crisis adverted, and Hana forgot all about the jumbo teddy. "Fwogee ?"

"Yeah, that's right. Froggie. See ?" He started to make his way toward it. There where even other children around ! This would do well.

lithle
Tansi had, up until recently, led a sheltered life under her father's care. Other children were new, a revelation. They were unlike her own sister and cousins, they did not act or react in ways to be predicted. It startled her, still. So, when the boy approached her, when he poked the frog that she was clearly already claiming, her first instinct showed itself as she backed against Michael's leg and held the toy more firmly.

Hers. She had it first. That meant no one else could touch it.

But then the other girl began to approach, with wings, and Tansi hesitated. She hadn't wanted the toy that much. Not so much that it was the most important thing ever. And the girl and the boy both looked kinda neat. Maybe more fun than holding the frog all by herself. A soft little sigh, and the passion flower child held the frog at arms length, so that the boy could touch it better, and the girl too, if she wanted to.

"I foun' i'!" She announced proudly. "I's a f'og."

Oh, she was so clever. They would want to be her friends forever, now that they saw how clever she was.

Michael, daughter now detached from his leg, only watched the girl. She was reacting better than he'd expected. His little princess didn't usually like to share. Mind, among her cousins, that made sense. It was take or be taken. But here, if she could learn to allow others to play as well... Maybe she wasn't as much of a wretched brat as she seemed.

Silverah
Nahuel smiled and gave the frog another poke, giggling when it jiggled as the beans inside it shifted. He glanced over at the other girl who had just sat down with him. He blinked at the girls, then blinked at the frog.

"'Neat," he stated, and grinned toothily. He examined one of the critter's floppy limbs, lifting it up and then dropping it again.

Could they be friends? Maybe they liked climbing on kitchen cabinets as much as he did? Mom got mad when he did that, but maybe if the other kids liked doing that it was okay and mom would let him.

He turned around, grabbed the parrot, and held it up for the girls.

"Bird!" he proclaimed.

See? See? He could name things, too!

Lisirra
Lisi scanned the room as she entered, looking for Caprice with a bit of anxiety. Relieved to find her among other children - Reese was such a social girl - she decided to hang back and instead, look for some nice things to buy her.

As for Caprice, as soon as she saw other children, she headed straight for them. There weren't any other kids to play with at her house, and so this was what she wanted most. She approached the group gingerly, trying to see what they had that everyone seemed to interested in. There was a boy with crazy hair and two girls that looked nice, so she stepped right up to them and announced herself. "Hi hi!" she exclaimed. "Whatsa doin?"

Wren Stardrifter
"'sa pwetty fwogee." Hana nodded. "Pwetty birdie !"

There where so many things in there, so many little treasures, and playmates to boot ! Hana's little wings fluttered back in forth in excitment as she, in turn, burrowed into the sea of plushes to find her own. Eventually she found one shaped like a panda, sat, and hugged it. "Lookie ! A bwear !"

Wren couldn't help but smile.

lithle
Now they all had animals. Was that a good thing, or a bad thing? Tansi wasn't sure. She clearly wasn't at the top anymore though. It was hard to be the coolest when everyone had animals. Well, almost everyone. The newest girl to approach was tragically animal free. The brat princess was shocked to feel a wave of sympathy for the girl. It was okay for her to be the only one with an animal, but not for a single girl to be the only one without.

"We go' amibals. Wan' one?" She wasn't, of course, going to give up her giant frog, but the girl could have a different one. Reaching blindly behind her, she managed to get a grip around the neck of a giraffe, which she held out encouragingly, "'s howse."

And that was clearly the first nice thing that Michael had seen his daughter do in too long. He nodded silently to himself, and almost seemed to smile. It wasn't exactly a friendly expression, at least not on his rough wolfish face, but it was a start. There was real affection there. That much was true.

Horrid brat that she was, at least she wasn't completely socially inept. He just hoped she wouldn't start screaming anytime soon, like she had last time she was around strange children.

Silverah
Nahuel, fairly content with his bird, looked at the new girl and grinned toothily. He scooted over to make room for her in their little circle. Something about the plain and simple fact that he was the only boy here made him happy.

Clapping the palm of his hand against his chest, he proclaimed, "Nahuel!"

Eshaa, who hadn't seen him say this much or be this friendly since his arrival, smiled and looked at the other parents. "Hi," she said as way of introduction, "I'm Eshaa Cooper. Nahuel's my son."

Wow, that was odd to say.

Lisirra
Caprice looked curiously at the girl holding out the toy to her. Understanding, she smiled in thanks and took it. Lisi, watching from a few feet away, reminded her to say thank you. "Tank yuu," Caprice told the girl promptly. "Ambals?" she inquired, testing out the word. Testing out her "ambal" she bent its long neck and giggled uproariously as the giraffafe looked at her upside down. Letting its neck go, she set him upright on the ground and danced him around. She made the sound horsies made - "Neiiigh! Neigh neigh neiiigh!" and walked the giraffe up to her friend's froggie. "Wat's yur name?" she said, in an altered voice that tried to sound girrafe-like.

Caprice returned Nahuel's grin with one of her own. "Hiya," she said cheerily. "You's gots big hair," she stated matter-of-fact. When Nahuel slapped his hand against his chest, Reese looked at him for a moment like he was insane. Then, eyes alight with understanding, she clapped hand to her own chest and said, "M'name ish Cuh..preese." Caprice had only just learned how to say her full name. Lisi was so proud.

Wren Stardrifter
Much like the other two before her, the monarch tapped her chest. "'m Hana." She grinned, then rose the panda. "And tat's... Myaa !"

Wren couldn't help but smile, not having the heart to tell the little one that pandas did not make cat sounds. Instead, he nodded to the woman. "My name is Wren."

lithle
"I's Tan-zi." The passionflower girl announced, rounding out the introductions proudly. She liked her name. She liked most things about herself really. She was beginning to think she liked friends too. As long as they realized how great she was.

"Wibbit. Wibbit." She knelt to the ground, showing a surprising amount of natural grace for such a young girl. The frog was hopped toward the giraffe in awkward flopping movements. "My name is Gween."

That was a good name for a frog, right? From her kneeling position, she looked up expectantly at the other children, waiting for them to get in on the action. "W'as you names?"

Michael was less comfortable with the introductions going on, he'd never been comfortable in the little groups of chattering, proud parents, even though he was as proud a parent as any. Maybe worse than some. But small talk was a game he didn't like playing, so when the introductions reached him, he answered with a shrug. "Michael. I got the flower brat, there." Reaching out with a toe, he nudged the child in question.

Casual. Detached. Funny to think how much he actually loved the girl.

Silverah
Birds flew, right? Nahuel dropped his floppy little parrot in on the action from above, and it landed ungracefully between the bear and the frog. What could he call the bird? He couldn't just call it 'bird', could he? No, he couldn't, because that was sort of boring. So, what could he call it?

It was red, wasn't it?

"Red!" he proclaimed, wiggling the bird. Eshaa cringed.

"I don't suppose yours do this whole monosyllabic thing, do they?" she asked the other parents.

Lisirra
Lisirra was trying very hard to be invisible without being rude; pretending to be very interested in bins of small toys over by a counter. Maybe the other parents wouldn't notice her. She never knew what to say to people. Small talk was torture, simply torture. She never knew what to say and usually ended up just smiling a lot to make up for her silence.

That was completely opposite of her little girl, though - Lisi had yet to reconcile herself to the term "daughter," however, she was beginning to feel more at ease in that role, ever so slowly. Caprice shined around others her age - around anyone, in fact, that would talk to her.

Playing blissfully with the other little girl Tan-zi, Reese was lost in her imaginary interactions with the toys. "M'name is..." The dolphin girl thought long and hard about the appropriate name for her long-necked friend. "Necky!" she pronounced with a giggle and a grin.

Finally, Lisi was beginning to feel bad for avoiding the gaggle of parents, and approached them casually. The meek librarian just heard the tail end of Eshaa's question. "My Caprice has actually been quite vocal," she piped up with a hesitant smile. "She really loves the sound of her own voice, it seems."

Wren Stardrifter
"Hana has a bit on an issue with words, but... I figure it's normal at that age, wouldn't it ?" That was a bit alien to him. He had never been a child, and the only children he had seen where his sisters' adoptees. The metric crapton of them. Now, the cyborg had to wonder just how the hell she did it - Hana about caught all his attention, and that was only one child !

The butterfly girl wriggeled her bear. "Myaa happy, Myaa dances, look !"

lithle
"Tansi talks alright. But it took her awhile. Pretty quiet brat, when she first arrived." See, he wasn't incapable of having a conversation like a normal person, he just usually wasn't much interested. Michael hovered protectively over his daughter, especially now that the other parents had made themselves known. He didn't mind the kids playing around her. But the adults, there was less trust there.

Tansi meanwhile, was losing interest in her plush frog. She shook it halfheartedly, echoing the dancing movements of the butterfly girl. Dancing. Smiling, she reached out toward the butterfly girl, and rose to her feet.

"We dance?" She asked, reaching for the girls hands. "Dance."

She rocked from one foot to the other, to make her point.

Silverah
One of the girl's had stood up. Nahuel blinked in confusion - that was new. "Dance?" he echoed. Was that what that was called? He had, of course, never heard the word since neither Eshaa nor Wystan was the type to dance and so had no reference point. What was 'dance'?

He wiggled his bird weakly, losing interest in it. He wanted to climb - maybe there was a good place for that around here? Mom didn't like him climbing at home. Not on the furniture, not on the cabinets, not on the windowsills. He looked around but only saw the toy shelves. That'd do, he decided, and dropped the bird before rising to his feet.

Eshaa watched him toddle towards the shelves and find handholds and footholds.

"Nahuel, no!" she exclaimed. The jaguar boy looked innocently over at her, tail bobbing.

"Climb?" he asked.

"Not here," sighed Eshaa. "We'll go to the park later."

"Park?" asked Nahuel, unfamiliar with it.

"The green place with the climby thing. Down the street from our building, remember?"

"Park!" said Nahuel happily, and dropped from the shelves into a crouch. He approached the girls again.

"Wha's dance?" he asked.

Lisirra
Caprice looked up eagerly from her play as the other children started dancing. This was something she liked! Playing ambals was nice, but dancing was the bestest thing ever. Any excuse to get up and move around. Reese usually wasn't supposed to run around crazily at her house, but this surely was okay. Grinning from ear to ear, she lept to her feet and grabbed both Nahuel's hands.

"Dance!" she squealed happily. "I show you!" Then the black haired girl began dancing, jumping and skipping in circles, hoping to pull her male partner along.

Lis almost jerked forward to reprimand her daughter, but she stopped herself. She couldn't pull Caprice out of every social situation she encountered. If Nahuel didn't want to dance and told Caprice off, then Caprice would have to learn to be less...enthusiastic about making others join her. Lisi watched, but tried not to say anything.

Wren Stardrifter
The proposition seemed to go well to the butterfly girl, as she took the offered hand and stood on her feet, forgetting all about the plush animals in the process, her own winding up discarded and all but forgotten in the process.

Dancing was so much better than plushies, after all ! "We dance." She said with an happy, beaming smile, visibely more than willing to let Tansi lead them off.

lithle
And so they would dance. Not beautifully perhaps, because now with the butterfly girls hands in her own Tansi proved that she was not yet educated in the art of dance. Yet she moved with reasonable grace, for such a young child as she pulled Hana into a spinning circle, giggling as she did so, her eyes bright with joy.

If she was selfish, if she was self centered, she'd forgotten it now, she was happy to be moving and spinning with the girl across from her, happy to imagine a spotlight, imagine being something bright and adored. Releasing Hana's hands, she lifted her hands above her head, and spun as a ballerina on a music box, smiling all the time.

"We dance! All dance!" She sing-songed joyously.

Silverah
Nahuel uncertainly followed the girl as she pulled him along. What were they doing? But then he realized it felt good to move and went with it. They were spinning in circles, which was rather fun, but Nahuel was getting a bit dizzy now. His hands slipped away from Caprice's and he tumbled over.

Eshaa was a little worried, but he'd taken worse spills at home, so she managed to not freak out. Still, she didn't want to look heartless, so she stepped in to make sure her son was okay.

"Feel sick," stated Nahuel, frowning as he sat up.

"A little too much fun for one day, huh?" Eshaa asked him, picking him up. He clung to her shirt.

"Go home," nodded Nahuel tiredly.

Eshaa smiled apologetically at the other parents.

"We'd better go," she explained.

Lisirra
Caprice peered curiously over the boy as he fell away from her, a hint of worry creasing her brow. Had she done something bad? He said he felt sick...Reese wrung her hands together restlessly, feeling guilty but not knowing what to do. Helplessly, she turned to her mother.

"Oh, honey, it's okay," Lisi said immediately, bending down to be at eye-level with the dolphin child. "Nahuel just isn't feeling good, don't be sad."

Lisi knew there were no limits on her girl's energy level, but understood that the other children were bound to get tired. Wryly she thought to herself that it was time to take Reese home, where she could dance around as long as she wanted and not tire out anyone but Lisi.

"We should probably go too," Lisi said, taking Reese's hand. Oh, she hated talking to other adults; she got so tongue-tied. What was the proper thing to say? "Very nice meeting you all. I hope Nahuel feels better."

Her face red, Lisi hoped she didn't leave anything out or seem impolite. Caprice might be a social butterfly, but her mom had had her fill of socializing for the day.

Wren Stardrifter
Hana was perfectly happy being twirled around like a little ballerina - and when the two girls finally where done dancing, she gave a lovely bow to her partner. So cute, Wren couldn't help but think, but quickly enough Hana came to him and pulled on his pantlegs, yawning. Yep, this was another case of sleepy toddler. The cyborg lifted her in his arms.

"We should probably be going, also. It looks like my little lady is about to fall asleep on the spot."

"'ye" The butterfly girl said, from her perch on her father's shoulder. She would have to see them all again soon.

It had taken Wren and Hana forever to decide on costumes, but in the end, they had setteled on a cute little angel-like costume for her (minus fake wings, that would have been a bit of a hassle with her own pair) and a cowboy theme for himself. Hey, no one said they had to match, right ?

So far, the little butterfly's costume had been a hit, and Wren was already carrying a bagfull of candy in one hand, holding Hana's own in the other, as she seduced her way into getting more candy than usual.

My, she would probably be a little heartbreaker when she would be older, but the cyborg tried not to think of that. Right now, she was still little, and hopefully would stay this way for a goooooodddd long while...

As odd as it felt like to think about it, she had given him direction in his life. He found a job as a mechanic and it seemed like it would finally work out this time... And every time he watched those cute little eyes, he felt like melting. Maybe it was why his sister wound up with so many children...

Maybe it was what had saved her in the end. And maybe, she would be the one to save him.

Each time they stopped at a house and that whoever answered the door commented on how cute she was, he couldn't help but smile a little more. They had gone trick-or-treating in Durem for a reason after all - more old ladies easily seduced by cute than in any other place, and their trick was working oh so very well. Daddy must be the smartest person ever, Hana couldn't help but think, in her little mind.

Overall, the little treck had taken them an hour or so, and Wren made his way home with two bags full of candy hooked to one harm, and holding an asleep butterfly-angel in another.

The time before christmas was definitively a busy one for almost everyone, no matter their chosen professions. This was why Hana often found herself being babysitted by aunt Zero as of late, not that the cheerful butterfly girl really minded.

She sometimes got to play mommy with Alden then, with Sei being the daddy (being all the well completely unaware how it boggeled the older child in the process). With Sei she could watch him play games on the tv, like her daddy did sometimes, only Sei sometimes let her play too ! How delightfully fun was that ?

Or she could nest on Ronen's knees and watch him draw and color with those odd little markers that smelled funny. Sometimes he ever let her draw too., but Ronen wasn't always there to play with her. Aunt Zero said he had his own house and sometimes he had to stay there, but the monarch girl didn't really understand. At any rate, Ronen coming to visit was always an event for her.

Aylen, in the event she was home as well, would attempt to teach her how to fly, since she of course figured Wren wouldn't be able to do it, for many reason. That was also all short of fun for the little toddler. They had gotten the beating of the wings right, but they where simply too small to lift her, the phoenix girl had quickly figured out. But that was good practice, right ? And Hana always seemed to love it. Sometimes Aylen would light up some kind of funny-smelling inscence and try to show the girl how to meditate. That, however, was found to be a less successful endavor. Toddlers where not meant to stay sitting, even if Aylen herself had learnt at such a young age... but the two girls where definitivly different on that aspect. It seemed like Hana only ever stopped long enough to sleep.

With aunt Zero herself, well, she usually made her a fruit plate with lots of lots of her favorites, which was always good. And then they would play dolls, weaving intricate stories with them, or the blue-haired woman would read her a story - stories of princesses and dragons. Sometimes Zero made them up on the spot, but Hana never seemed to mind.

After all this, was it really a wonder that the little monarch was almost always asleep when her father came for her ? So much fun, so little time...

Upon reading the journal, you suddenly come across a page that... isn't quite like the others.

Hana cannot quite write yet, but apparently that hadn't stopped the little butterfly girl. But what could this mean ?

...My. It seems my little butterfly found my journal.

No, not really - her journal. It's a little tradition Zero told me she had done with her kids, and I liked it - when she's old enough, I am going to give her the journal I have been writing in ever since I found her as a leaf. Weither she decides to continue writing in it, or chose another, or simply not write at all - it will be up to her. I've had it recovered by a kind lady in the market with some bit of tapestry I found so she might like it better - well, she sure did notice it at least, didn't she ?

Christmas was so sweet. Everyone got her a little something - Zero wanted to give her the bracelet that had belonged to our creator's wife before she passed away, and then he gave it to her, starting a bit of tradition I guess. Aylen isn't quite considering Zero as her "mother" per-se, given that she still has memories from her own parents, so the phoenix girl had refused it. I told her to wait, since she's a bit too young, both to wear it - she plays a bit rough sometimes - and to understand the meaning behind it. So, instead, she gave them those beads - they're sturdy, fairly safe, and she can wear them right away - Hana definitively loved them :

As for Aylen... well, I am not letting Hana handle this, not just yet, but somehow the little phoenix had sound my little flutterby a quite lovely fan all on her own :

User Image

Apparently it can be used as a part of a dance ritual to aid meditation (...the poor dear just won't give up, I think...) but I think Hana will end up enjoying at least the dance part. But, as I said, im not letting her handle it just yet - it's quite a fragile thing, and Hana... hasn't quite gotten the hang of not breaking fragile things by accident (I would like to use this spot to thank whoever invented the plastic sippy cup. You are a hero among men, sir.)

The last one she's gotten from her cousins where from Sei and Ronen, who pooled together. And it's quite easy to see why, it must have been quite expensive, even for the two eldest :

User Image

It's actually blown glass, so that's another thing she's not allowed to really wear yet, but it is so gorgeous. I am going to have to offer the boys to cover some of the cost, it must have blown quite a hole in Sei's allowance and Ronen's budget...

But I got a photo of Hana standing on her tiptoe to kiss the very top of Ronen's muzzle while he was croutching, in thanks. That had to break the cute scale clean off. I am so amazed with her, she is so incredibly spoiled yet she took the time to thank each and every person that gave her a present.

And what was the present I gave her, you ask ? Well, it isn't going to come into play quite yet, but I am going to get her ballet lessons once she's older. She was so excited, her little wings wouldn't stop shaking !

But of course, you try to explain a toddler her present is not under the tree and she has to wait. Go right ahead, since I was smart enough to avoid the matter alltogether :

User Image

Im so smart, sometimes. Heheh. She's sleeping right now, hugging that very stuffed moogle, it hasn't quite left her side even if christmas has passed. I think it's her favorite now, as Edward's been mostly forgotten on a pillow of her bed (I think Zero is jea~lous~)

Anyway, that's all for tonight, I should probably go sleep as well...

Wren Stardrifter
This was a nice, cool, crisp day - the snow was slightly wet, making it ideal for all kind of winter fun ! This was, of course, an occasion Hana could simply not ignore, and she dragged Wren to play in the park outside.

It was hard to ignore that his little girl was growing oh-so-quicky - her steps where still a bit wobbly, but the blue-and-green haired man no longer felt the urge to trail behind her like an hawk in worry. Her speech was better, and her cousin Aylen had started to show her how to write - only loose letters for now. And she had almost managed to tie her boots on her own !

Hana was quite bundled up, contrasting with her father - she was a bit weak to cold, especially her wings - so under the coat, and those mittens, and that scarf, and those earmuffs, it was almost hard to see that there was a girl underneath all that, but Hana did not look like she minded too much. Her father followed a few steps behind, wearing only a light jacket. The little butterfly girl twirled a few steps before climbing on one bench and pondering the situation.

Should she build a snowman, or make a fort ? Hmm... Though choice.

Kittygriffin
Kiri had travelled to a near by park to take reference pictures for a project she was presently working on. Since both Simon and Mrs Potts were busy Alice had come with her.

Kiri hated cold weather and was decked in coat, gloves, scarf and a warm hat. It was a pity she hadn't been able to find any suitable reference images so had to go and get her own but Alice on the other hand was thrilled. She too was in suitable snow gear but lighter than her mother's and didn't seem to notice the cold at all. Facinated by the snow she was running around trying to see as much as possible.

Kiri still was amazed by her daughter's ability to move around. She barely talked at all and her concentration was the pits but when it came to physical actions she showed amazing development. She would have suggested that Alice build something out of the snow while she took photos but knew from previous experience that her daughter wouldn't have concentrated on it unless someone played with her.

Kiri was looking around for suitable photos of trees and so didn't notice until it was too late to stop Alice from her incurable determination that everyone was a friend that she just hadn't met yet. Alice spotting the other tot charged up to her and would have hugged her if she hadn't been on the bench, instead the tail peaking out from under she coat wagged happily and she smiled up at the girl while hopping happily from one foot to the other.

Kiri charged after her and turned to who she hoped was the father to comment helplessly "I'm so sorry, I'm afraid my daughter tends to be a bit friendly".

Wren Stardrifter
Hana let out a little surprised shiek as the other girl charged her way, managing to hold herself on the top of the bench not to topple over. Once the initial shock was over, however, the orange-haired child regarded the other with interest. "'ello !!" It was all smiles now, as if her previous fear had never happened. She peeked and noticed the tail. NOW her curiosity was picked. "What dat ?" One gloved finger pointed at the wagging thing. She had seen that on auntie Zero's kitties before, but not on a person !

...Well, Ronen had one too. Only it wasn't furry and it didn't ever quite move that fast.

"I wouldn't worry, see ?" Wren said with a smile. "I've got that problem as well, but perhaps on a smaller scale." That is, Hana never really charged anyone.

Kittygriffin
Alice wondered what her new friend was asking about, it appeared to be something behind her. Trying to see what she was pointing at Alice started turning in circles in an effort to see behind her until her balance abandoned her and she fell on her rear. Well that hadn't worked, now how was she to find out what had been pointed to? She thought she had seen her tail out of the corner of her eye but it didn't look any different from normal so that couldn't be what was being pointed at.

Kiri was caught between being hopeful and embarrassed, perhaps dealing with other tots would encourage Alice to talk more, this one seemed talkative enough. "I'm Kiri, the little one is Alice." She introduced them, her own tail was starting to twitch a bit due to the cold and embarrassement.

Wren Stardrifter
And now it was Hana's turn to be confused, as she watched Alice turn in circles. What was this ? Some kind of game ?

Hm.

The little butterfly sat first, then let herself fall from the bench and on her feet, peering again before starting to mimic the movement the other girl had done moments before. Only Hana didn't quite last so long before she also felt flat on her behind. "'sDIZZY ! But fun !"

Her little wings twitched under the coat, and the butterfly seemed a bit annoyed for an half second. Oh, she hated it when her wings where stuck under things, but she knew better. Frozen wings hurt. It was all she knew and all she cared to know about that one matter. Still curious, she poked at the tail. "What dat ?" She asked again.

"Pleased to meet you. I am Wren, and this is my daughter, Hana." Oh, like that was hard to guess. He was radiating fatherly pride from a mile away.

Kittygriffin
Alice looked at her with a bit of amazement, it certainly looked like this girl was talking about her tail but why would she want to know about it? It wasn't anything strange, mommy had one too. Only hers was white and different shaped.

"Tail?" she asked confused and wagged her tail indicate it was her tail she was talking about. Her hat was also bothering her, it was irratating her ears. Mommy also had a hat which was why she had agreed to wear hers but this girl had funny fluffy things instead so she took off her hat, it wasn't like she really minded the cold anyway. The funny fluffy things looked nice, leaning forward to poked one to see if they were as fluffy as they looked.

Kiri smiled, she was fond of Alice but it was clear that this gent doted on his daughter. "It looks like the two of them are getting on well. Its good to see Alice talking." Even if it was just a single word she thought, Alice could go days without saying a single word.

Wren Stardrifter
"Ooo...." So tails could be furry too. How interesting ! "C'sin has tail too. Not furry tho." Ohhh, and the other had furry ears too ! The little butterfly let out a giggle when her earmuffs where poked.

"'searmuffs. Like hat but not quite." This was, in the toddler's mind, the best explanation in the whole world. The orange-haired one pondered this over for a moment. "Wanna make fort ?"

Forts where so much better when you have someone else to play inside with, after all !

"Yep, it looks like." Wren echoed his smile. Hana liked everyone, but the last time she had actually talked that much was in the toystore.

Kittygriffin
Satisfied that the earmuffs were indeed as fluffy as they looked Alice turned her mind to the last question.

Alice decided that she liked the idea of building a fort with her new friend. Tail wagging she nodded her agreement before looking around for a good place to build their fort. She'd made forts out of the stuff in her nursery before but a snow one would be something different.

Spotting what she considered a good spot not far away she pointed it out to Hana. It was at the top of a slight hill and there wasn't much around it to get in the way. She remembered Simon telling her things like that were good for forts while he helped her build her nursery one.

Kiri mentally sighed at Alice reverting to her usual tatics for communication, oh well at least it was looking a little hopeful. "I'm just glad they left my tail out of it." She was fairly sure if the topic of the fort hadn't come up Alice would have used Kiri's tail as proof of furry tails.

Wren Stardrifter
Hana pomdered the pointed spot for a moment, and very seriously - a fort, after all, was important stuff ! "'sgood !" She said, with a nod, before starting to make her way to the hill, waddling along in the snow the best she could, which honestly wasn't very quickly, mentionning her new friend to follow.

They would make the best fort of them all !

"If I had a tail, I think I would have a toddler permanently attached to it by now." Wren answered with a chuckle. After that, he sometimes had that problem... only with legs. "They seem to be getting along pretty well..."

Kittygriffin
Happy that Hana approved of her choice she charged off in that direction, she quickly overtook Hana and was the first to the top of the hill. Once there she waited for Hana to catch up and surveyed the surrounding area trying to decide what the best way of starting would be.

It would need to have walls, and those wall had to be big enough to hold both of them in and everyone else out. It was good that there was so much snow, there would be plenty of building stuff for their walls. All the same this was her first time working with snow, she hoped that Hana would now how to use it.

Kiri made a face at the thought of Alice permanently attached to her tail. "Lucky for me while she does love hugging people she can't stay still long enough to really cling to people for long." Watching her daughter charge off Kiri picked up the forgotten hat. "Alice hasn't really met that many people but she seems to think that everyone she does meet is a friend. I don't get out much so the only other child her age that she's met was a little boy she met through the Eden Project". Kiri just assume that like most people Wren would think Eden Project was some children's group.

Wren Stardrifter
Hana caught up almost a full minute later, shaking some of the snow that had started to gather over her head. Likewise, she seemed to ponder the whole thing for a moment, before croutching down.

"'Seasy, see ? Sticks." She told the puppy girl, demonstrating the fact as she started to pull snow together, forming a tiny wall. Her new friend didn't talk much, but she was reaaalllyyy smart, to find a spot like this, so Hana was sure she would get it. "Pile snow to make fort ! 'sgotta be thick" Again, she demonstrated, adding another helping to make a thick snow block. "'sjust fall down if not thick. Where we put door ?"

Walls where nice, but they needed a door, or else they wouldn't be able to get out ! The thought was a bit frightning, and the thought of overstepping or simply bringing a part of it down to make it out never entered her mind.

But then, something occured to her. "S'name ? 'm Hana. S'mean flower in jana... japa... something."

However, that one fact seems to catch Wren's attention. "Oh, you too, then ? Leafbaby ?" Well, wasn't that a wierd coincidence ?

Kittygriffin
Alice gave serious thought to where the door should be. She couldn't remember Simon mentioning anything about doors but she realised that a door would be important. Finally she decided that the best place would be facing the most open ground and so pointed in that direction before starting to help push snow into place.

To answer the name question she commented "Alice", it had never occured to her that names might have a meaning, wasn't a name supposed to mean the thing it was naming? So the meaning of Alice should be Alice and the meaning of Hana should be Hana. Still making a good fort was more important than strange double meanings.

Kiri blinked in surprise. "Alice did come from a leaf so I guess that does make her a LeafBaby." So Hana was from Eden Project too.

Wren Stardrifter
"S'good spot. Alice pretty." She said with a grin. Weither she meant the name, the girl herself, or both, was a compete mystery.

Knowing the butterfly girl, it probably meant both, and with the effort of the two girls, the fort was starting to take shape. That was so fun !

"Yeah, that's what I used to call her. You know, when she was still a leaf." It was almost wierd to be able to discuss the whole thing and not get stared at. "I guess they are have a bit of animal to them, then ? Hana has butterfly wings, but you can't really see them now." Not uder the coat, no.

Kittygriffin
Pleased with the praise Alice smiled and her tail started wagging wildly. Still despite the happiness she focused on the most important thing. Making a good fort. It was her and Hana's fort so it had to be good.

Seeing that for a good sized fort with suitable walls they would need more snow she starting raiding the area around the fort, figuring that Hana could build the walls while Alice brought more snow for them. They would be able to make a really good Fort this way.

Kiri laughed at seeing Alice push snow towards Hana and the fort. "I should have brought one of those toy beach buckets with us." She would have brought one but she hadn't expected Alice to pay much attention to building things by herself. "When Alice was still just a potted leaf I visited the Eden Project's HQ in Barton to find out more. A nice girl there called Shouko told me that all the Edens have the soul of an animal or plant. Based on observation I would assume Alice is a Labrador Retriever"

Wren Stardrifter
And that plan suited Hana just fine, as she continued to press the snow into tight blocks in front of herself, moving when she deemed it thick enough and tall enough. At all the fort walls went up to both the girl's faces when they where sitting, after all, being able to see out of the fort was a pretty important. After all, how else would they know if someone was spying on them. This was Alice and Hana's fort - no spying allowed !

Plus, Alice tossing snow around meant they had a nice, flat surface to sit on. Alice was so smart, the butterfly girl thought, even she hadn't thought of that !

"I figured that Hana is a monarch from the pattern on her wings. That or that other butterfly that looks like a monarch, I think it was called a viceroy ? At any rate, she's defintively a butterfly, it's all fruits and sugar water in her little world. I think Alice is a retriver too, she really looks the part... and that would explain why she's so friendly. A friend of mine had one and the pup was the cuddliest, friendliest dog I've ever met."

Kittygriffin
Alice was pleased with the progress. Hana was so clever building the walls so well and know exactly how high and thick they should be. Getting all the snow suited Alice really well since it meant that she was nearly consistently moving around.

Alice could stay still and do focused work but it didn't suit her so well, she loved moving around. It also interested her to see what was under all the snow since she liked snow but she also liked dirt. She entertained herself wondering if there might be buried treasure under all this snow, then they could put the treasure in their fort to protect it.

"Alice pretty much eats anything and everything. The challenge isn't getting her to eat its to keep her from eating. I had to put locks on all the cupboards in the kitchen as well as to the pantry so that she couldn't help herself. A butterfly would make sense for your daughter, she already looks like becoming a social butterfly."

Wren Stardrifter
And, likewise, sitting there and building the walls seemed to fit the butterfly child just fine - while she loved to move around and dance, she was also getting very good at sitting still and concentrating on things, perhaps one thing her cousin had taught her. That, and she didn't quite have the endless stamina needed to move and carry snow around as fast and as long as Alice was doing.

Once she reached where they had decided the door would be, Hana stood and again went to the part she had started from, going to complete the wall again to reach in the other direction and make a full circle. "'SAlmost done !"

"I had a bit of challenge since I discovered meat makes her ill. I don't think she's able to disgest any kind, so I have to be careful she doesn't sneak anything out of my plate and get ill. She definitively fits the part, uh ?" Oh, the irony.

Kittygriffin
Alice was impressed with how quickly Hana could build walls, she was a bit disappointed in the lack of treasue to be found in the snow but there was still a bit of the fort left to build and even if they couldn't have treasure to protect the fort would still be an amazing fort.

She was starting to get a bit tired from running around and pushing snow, moving in the snow was harder than normal moving but she was determined to fullfill her half of the fort building, besides once it was built then she could have a bit of a breather in it as they defended their fort and as long as she moved snow there was always the chance of treasure.

Kiri grinned "Definetely." She agreed watching Hana she could definetely see her as the highly social type. "I've had to be fairly strict about Alice's eating too, but that's because she'll continue eating if given the chance. I suppose all Edens have their quirks but I didn't get around to asking Shouko when I saw her. Alice was still a leaf so it hadn't really sunk in what having an animal soul would mean."

Wren Stardrifter
Likewise, Hana was very impressed with her new friend, who could move so fast even in the snow and carry so much of it at once ! That was so amazing, and their fort would be the best fort ever !

And after they where done, they could..

...

hm...

...

...She'll figure something out !

"Yeah, I figure their animals are influencing them in more than just looks." Wren nodded.

Kittygriffin
Alice blinked, she'd found something strange in the snow. It appeared to be a rather dirty, crushed top hat and a similarly poor scarf. What were they doing in all this snow? Still... she'd wanted to find something and now she had. Since she hadn't learned about snowmen yet it didn't occur to her that this might be the left overs from one.

She picked up the hat and scarf and took them over for Hana's opinion. Hana knew more about snow than Alice did so maybe she'd know about the mysterious hat and scarf.

Kiri mean while eyed the newest discoveries of her daughter with caution. They looked harmless enough, and it was too cold for dirt to really stick to anything, whereas if she tried to take them off her Alice might become unhappy, she had the saddest look when unhappy. "Its nice to meet other parents of Edens." Kiri observed, "I wonder if Edens have a natural connection to each other."

Wren Stardrifter
Hana looked up from her little snow pile when something foreign had flashed in the corner of her vision, and she glanced at Alice and her newfound treasure. "'wats that ? Hn." The butterfly girl pondered for a moment. "Mebbe a snowman lost em." ...But there weren't any snowmen in the park !

... Maybe the snowman had left and forgotten his things, but how where they supposed to find him then ? "We keep safe, and give back if Snowman come back !" Yes, that was perfect. In the meanwhile, it could be their treasure.

Likewise, Wren kept a careful eye on the two girls. "They might, now that I think of it... I havn't really thought about it. Maybe they can just... "tell" that they both come from the same place ? Or something like that."

Kittygriffin
Alice nodded and put the hat and scarf in the fort before going back to providing snow for the walls. The fort would protect this man of snow's belonging until he returned for them.

A man of snow sounded odd to Alice but she assumed that Hana would know about such things, besides she recognised that she didn't really know that much maybe it was normal for people to be made of snow or maybe snowman meant that they worked or spent a lot of time in the snow like a fireman wasn't made of fire.

"It's hard to tell since Alice is so friendly whether there is anything linking her to others and she's really too young to ask her directly. Oh well maybe it'll become clearer as she meets more Edens."

Wren Stardrifter
That was the perfect idea, after all. Maybe the snowman would be so happy when he came back, maybe he would play with them a bit ? Playing with snowmen are fun, but they didn't talk much, even less than Alice did.

A few minutes later, and there was only a small space left unwalled, their door. "We done !"

"Same with Hana, actually, I figure this is something we will figure out later, hmm ?"

Kittygriffin
Alice was glad for a chance to sit in the fort and partially rest for a while. She didn't really like the idea of not doing anything but sitting and giving her legs a rest was nice.

The only real question now was who were they going to protect the snowman's treasure from? There was no water around so pirates weren't an option and Alice didn't know much about land locked villians. Despite this confusion she was trying to keep a close eye on everything going on outside the fort to determine if there was any threats. She figured that Hana probably knew who the bad guys were but it was best if she kept an eye out for suspicious people too.

"Probably, I could probably go back to the HQ now that Alice has grown and ask Shouko but I figure I'll leave it for the time being, next time I visit I want to take my time and make a list of questions for her so I don't forget this time."

Wren Stardrifter
Hana, however, did not seem too worried about potential bad guys, not just yet at least - she was humming a little song and drawing in the snow, peeking up every now and then to make sure there was no baddies around.

Alice probably made a more attentive vigil than her, anyway.

"That isn't a bad idea at all, I should probably do the same... but it's hard to find the time. I've had a lot of work lately." The blue-haired man answered.

Kittygriffin
Alice was getting bored of staring out of the fort, besides with that silly hat off her ears would probably pick up anyone coming long before her eyes did and she didn't have to stare out of the fort for her ears to work.

This decided her ears perked up a bit and she turned to look at what Hana was doing and venture to add some of her own drawings to the floor of their fort. Perhaps if they ran out of space they could draw pics into the sides of the fort and so make their fort the prettiest as well as the best.

Kiri at the mention of work looked guiltily down at the camera in her hands. She had come here to get some work done but had gotten distracted by parent talk, Lyre would laugh her head off if she knew.

Wren Stardrifter
Hana smilled as she noticed Alice was helping her draw now. This was much more fun when she was doing it too ! "'Snice !" she said with a smile on her face. Alice could draw really well, better than she did even !

Wren didn't seem to quite catch that, and with the silence, he set to keeping an eye on the two toddlers. This would be the perfect window for Kiri to take her pictures, now that he had a careful eyes on both girls.

Kittygriffin
Due to Kiri's work and the amount of time Alice spent in her studio some basic art techniques had slowly started rubbing off on her, still they had nearly covered all the floor which they weren't using. The walls were hard but it was possible that maybe they could be drawn on too, picking up a stick Alice experimented with lightly scratching a flower into the wall.

Kiri noticing that Wren was watching the kids started looking around for suitable trees. She kept the fort in view but wandered around taking photos of the nice snowy branches. Alice was fairly durable to cold but she still didn't want her to stay out in it for too long, besides Hana probably shouldn't stay out in the snow too long either.

Wren Stardrifter
...Hey, that wasn't a bad idea at all, expecially since they where running out of room. Thus, Hana began to draw what seemed to look like a bird next to Alice's flower. Clearly the butterfly's artistic talent was a bit more limited.

"'Sbirdie."

Wren seemed to be catching on that idea, as he peeked at his watch. Hm, he would need to be going soon.

Kittygriffin
The photos safely taken Kiri walked back over to Wren. "I don't know much about tots but I'm not sure if its good for them to be out in the snow much longer." She commented hesitently. "So why don't I take a photo for us of this happy time and we can try and convince them to leave their treasure here."

Alice had noticed that her mum was moving around outside the fort but was too busy concentrating on not poking a hole in their fort to give her much attention. Drawing on the walls was fun but it wouldn't be good if she poked a hole in their fort.

Wren Stardrifter
"That's not a bad idea, we need to get going soon anyway." Wren gave a nod. "Hana ? Come here, we need to get going soon, sweetheart."

The butterfly girl poked her head over the fort wall. "But... fort !"

"It's a very strong fort, I am quite sure it will keeps the treasure safe even if you two arn't there. Alice's mommy wants to take a picture and then we have to go see aunt Zero, remember ?"

The butterfly girl pondered this turn of events. Aunt Zero meant sweets and cousin Sei and Aylen. But... the fort ! And Alice !

She glanced at her partner in crime, as if seeking advice in her inner dillemia.

Kittygriffin
Alice was also reluctant. They had a responsibility to protect the snowman's treasure but at the same time mummy didn't tell her to do things which would be bad.

Kiri smiled at the two girls. "You know Snowmen can't move if people are around to see them do so. The fort will keep his treasure nice and safe but he won't be able to come and collect them if we're all here. Also if I get Hana's daddy's phone number I can tell him when the pictures are ready and maybe Alice can come around and delivery them." She figured that would probably cover the two main points of dillemia.

Alice looked back at Hana, it didn't look like they had a choice and it sounded like they would need to leave before the snowman came for his treasure. Slowly she got up.

Wren Stardrifter
Oh, so -that- was why she'd never saw one move !

Mystery solved.

Hana got up as the puppy girl did, glancing backward for a moment to make sure the hat and scarf where indeed still there and safe before making her way out of the fort and glancing at the small hill that had build onto.

...

It was a decent slope...

"WHHEEE !" The butterfly girl lauched herself off, sliding the whole way down.

Kittygriffin
Alice carefully left the fort too, it wouldn't do for it to be damaged now after all that work. She watched as Hana slid down the hill. That looked like fun so she tried to follow suit.

Unfortunately her clothes weren't as slipery as Hana's so she kinda half slid half rolled/bumped down the hill, landing rather dazed at the bottom. Getting to her feet she paused to regain the ability to focus on things.

Kiri looked on in amusement, she'd seen both her daughter and sister perform worse feats in the past so wasn't about to worry about Alice's less than graceful descent. If she got up then she was fine. Grabbing her camera she lined the two girls and the fort in the background up and took multiple photos, this way atleast one would probably come out fine.

Photos taking she smiled at Wren, I'll just get your number and then I think I'd better get this little one home for afternoon tea." She took out the small sketchpad she took everywhere and turned to a new page, offering pencil and pad to Wren.

Wren Stardrifter
Wren wrote down his number on the page, then gave the sketchbook back to Kiri, scooping up Hana in his arms and letting her lean against his shoulder.

"Ill do something similar myself, I think this one is starting to get due for her afternoon nap." He said with a grin.

"s'not." Hana pouted in reply, trying to look as dejected as she could, which made Wren laugh. She wasn't very convincing, at least not yet.

"Guess ill see you, then ? Feel free to call whenever, that's my cellphone and it's always on. Now, let's get going, shall we ?"

"'ye Alice !" Hana gave a wave as the blue haired man and his tiny charge went on their way.

Whoever said teaching a child was easy apparently has never been around a toddler. Apparently my little butterfly has entered her inquisive phaze. She wants to know about everything. Anything. Right now.

Why is daddy's hair blue if mine is orange ? Why did I have wings and Alice didn't ? Will I get a furry tail also ? Why is the sky blue, why is the grass green, why does snow falls downward instead of going up ?

All those questions only followed by more questions afterward. Zero thinks it's hillarious. Of course she does, since she's not the one deal with this 24/7.

I just wish she would stop encouraging her, if all.

I've started teaching her how to read - she's picking up relatively quick, I feel. Not that I really know - the concept of teaching someone with something I never had to learn, something I was actually born with, was kind of hard to wrap my brain around. At least she's gonna have a headstart for when she starts with school ? She loves Clifford the big red dog. And then she promptly asked me if we could, please please pretty please get a puppy ?

A red one, of course.

But why do dogs not come in red ? Clifford is red !

But then, this is gaia. I am probably wrong and will probably be proven wrong sometime in the near future. Oh dear.

I am somewhat considering the puppy idea, if only because it would make a great exemple of responsibility. But she might be a tad too young for that yet.

This is driving me nuts and I somehow manage to love every second of it.

It still amaze me to watch Hana and see her pick up things so quickly. I figure her natural curiosity does help her learn a bit faster. I went to see a pre-school teacher and, according to her, Hana could apparently skip the whole deal and go straight to first grade once school inscriptions come around. That does make me very proud of her.

However, I am still thinking about all this. Zero had some very bad experiences about sending Ronen to school, I remember that very well, and had thus mostly homeschooled the rest of her brood. Hana isn't as different as Ronen is, nothing against the poor dear of course, so I figure she would integrate a bit more well, and I really do not wish to deprive her of the interaction and of the window to make friends her own age. I don't really get a whole lot of time to bring her to different places, such is the nature of my work, I figure...

Thank god there is still time to think about it. I am looking at specific school, hopefully closeby, but not the same one Ronen went to - they handled his situation poorly enough that I am not interested at all to send my little butterfly there to begin with. We will see...

She keeps asking me about that puppy. I don't think her interest is gonna go away... I still feel she is too young to really understand taking care of an animal on her own, so I do my best to buy myself some time. I brought a few books on dogs breeds and care and I have been reading it to her when I could. It's a good thing that we have a big place, fitting for a bigger breed - I don't think I could keep up with a tiny, barking anklebiter, not even for my little princess. So I am mainly looking into a bigger breed - a golden retriver or a husky, perhaps. I need a breed that appreciate children.

But, like all things, we'll see. I must admit I've grown to like the idea.

Today, there is something strange in the mail. Tucked between the bills and catalogs is a thin, flower-scented envelope addressed to Hana Cho. Who could be writing to her?

The Letter
Dear Hana,

Being a princess is great, but every good princess has to take some time to think about the people who are less fortunate than her! There's an orphanage here in Barton where the kids aren't quite so lucky as you - they don't even have toys to play with!

So you know what I think? I think that it would be great for you to share a bit of your luck with them. Please pick a gently-loved toy that you have but think they would like even more than you do! Once you've done that, go down to the orphanage and see just how good making other people happy feels!

You won't regret it, I promise!

Love,
Shouko
