Agent SSK
The only problem I see with the PS3 and XBox 360 is that I'm more or less forced to pay for things that I really don't want in a gaming console. And I'm also being forced to pay for external appliances to optimize my gaming experience.

Imagine this:

-How cheap would PSP be if Sony didn't add in the ability to play MP3's?
-Even though the PS2 is the weakest console in the current-gen, why is it still more expensive than the GCN?
-Why enhance visuals via HDTV's when most people don't even have one?
-Why allow the PS3 to hook up to two HDTV's when rarely anybody has enough money to get one, let alone two?
-Why allow 7 controller ports when people don't want to pay as much as $30 for a second PS2 controller?
-Why have Blu-Ray discs when games today don't even fill up all the space in a DVD disc?
-Why should the PS3 play music if I can't play it simultaneously with the game?

Am I right when I ask these questions?
I'm also going to try and answer these questions, and a lot of the answers are against Sony:

- If it couldn't play MP3s, it would be a good deal cheaper. If it also couldn't get movies, then it would also be a lot cheaper, but the main reason it costs so much is because it has such a large LCD screen. The main thing cutting MP3s and movies would do is make it so that people don't have to buy so many memory sticks (I have the default, and its enough to never run out for games, but its nearly full with a few games and 8 songs).

- Its the most expensive because they know it'll sell, since PS3 has the largest 3rd party support. People are willing to buy it at a higher price because there are more games, since third party companies like to focus on games.

- Because Sony is all about power now. They think that the more power it has, then the more money they'll make, even though its because of the quality games they have from third party companies that made the PS2 sell in the first place, not because of graphics or anything of the sort.

- power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power etc.

- because they think multiplayer is a well enjoyed feature which they think they learn from online play doing so well, even though online play isn't about the number of friends playing, but meeting people all over the world and playing with them to truly compare your skills. Its basically Sony's misinterpritation.

- no comment (I don't know what Blu-Ray discs are)

- Because once again, they think that made their PS2 sell, so they think that they can just do it again, waste more money, and it'll still sell as well. If you want to play music while playing the game, just pay the $20 for a CD player instead.

Those are my answers, good answers for the questions, bad answers for the business.

-Probably a lot cheaper. However, this, and movies, are the only things that go for the PSP. For example, in Japan, PSP sales are maybe 1.5 or 2 times the DS sales, but DS software quadruples PSP software sales. That's what I've heard, at least.
Just to let you know to tell that guy who gave you info on the PsP and Ds sales...The Ds wasn't that much behind the PsP's sales for this year. But now I believe that the Ds out sells the PsP in both 2004 and 2005...

ANYWAY!

Saying that the PsP could be cheaper...infact it could be so much more in terms of cost. Sony lowered the cost of the PsP, but knew they would lose alot more money than they wanted. Sony say's they will start getting profit for the PsP in 2 years time!

Ps2 sales hasn't droped. The Ps2 has only had one price drop over here in the Uk...one! It maybe the oldest, but its the most popular. Sony doon't see a need to lower prices to sell more consoles...

What Sony said about its 7 controllers is that its the max they could had. But who and what game is going to have 7 player multi player? Imgaion 7 small screens on your Tv when playing a multi player game...

But...the reason why Sony are offering the chance to play on HD Tv's and having Blue ray discs...is beacuse of 1)There track record and 2)Because these two are suppose to be up and coming products. Remember we are nearly having the same look here with Blue ray with DvD's on the playstation 2. We thought that its going to cost too much cause its new and that DvD's cost much. HD, whoever...is another thing. Is it really up and coming? We just to have wait and see.

I choose the Xbox 360...j/k.
I really choose the revolution:
1) Because of downloading older games
2) Backwords compatible(suck it microsoft!)
3) free Online(i think)
4) Super smash bros online
5) Link, Mario, Samus, etc.

I do want the Xbox 360 and the PS3 though.
Xbox 360: Halo (im curious), Gears of War.....thats it.
PS3: 7 Controller port is nifty, Square (im a loyal fan), to have a Grill in my room, to have a controller as a throwing devise.

I'm sad now... I saw that even though I don't want the PS3, there are 2 games for it I want. 1 is Metal Gear Solid 4 (They said it was a trilogy in an interview, but apparently not) and the rerendered version of FF7... Damn Sony and their overpricing of the system to get 2 games... I'm just going to have to miss out on those.

How's this for s**t then, FF7 isn't even being remade. That was just a trailer to "show off the systems power".
Has it occurred to anyone that any current system could pull off that FF7 scene if it was a CG?
Hell, personally I preffered the FF series when it had disfigured characters anyway. I always thought of them a neat looking. They should have kept it FF7, or 9 style.
Anyway, I'm in the same mindset as you. Some series I truly love, and want to continue loving. Unfourtunatly, that means buying more systems than I want as well.

Either way, in the end, I'll end up doing what I always do. Shell out money for a system that I only want for certain games. So far I've been happy with that decision, as the systems usually end up with some benefits.

Thinking about it now though, Back before I had the systems that are currently out (GC, PS2, and XBOX), I decided on a GC first, solely because I was dying (interesting word choice) for the RE1 remake. That was the final factor in my system decision. Not Link, or Mario, or Samus.

Well, that's good to hear. In that case, the only thing that would turn me towards PS3 is MGS4 (I find it strange they announced this since I saw an interview where they said 3 would be the last one, but whatever). Since I wasn't into the series too much, I don't really care. In that case, its Revolution all the way (that and DS games are what all my money is going towards).

The Revolution and PS3 are the only nextgen systems that I'm attracted too.

The Xbox 360 doesnt have the feel as the other two.
It doesnt seem like Microsoft has done anything new stare
Plus I only see one controler port on it.

Actually, there are no controller ports. What you thought was a port was actually the wireless binding button for wireless controllers. If a controller is within 30 ft of the system, it automatically binds when the button is pressed, meaning no ports. Nifty, eh?

And I believe Square will have much more business with Nintendo than in the last two console generations. A top developer at Square said that he was really impressed with the Revolution's design and was really interested in creating some new material for it. Keep your fingers crossed, RPG fans.

Most likely they will. They said that they were working on a new project for the Rev. already.

My opinion exactly. 360 Just doesn't seem to have any spark to it. Full Auto is really the only game I've seen (at this point in time) that I liked.

The PS3 caught my attention with that one game...um...what was it again... stressed *strains brain to remember game name*. Darn, can't remember what it was called. Plus, Sony gets extra points for their new toy's ability to play seven people in one game...assuming you have two TVs to hook it up too.

**EDIT** Kill Zone II, that's what the game was called. That game looked kinda cool.

But the Rev is my biggest hit so far. With FREE internet, SSB: Online at console release, the small size, the cheap price, the new Legend of Zelda game (which looks awsome, btw), and five consoles worth of games to play on it...it automatically wins the title of "best next gen console" in my book. The Gamecube may have been the "weakest link" in the last race, but the Rev will blow both the PS3 and the 360 out of the water.

I don't know it really depends on what games are coming out for it. So far the Revolution has my attention more then the other two, but it really depends on how I feel about them, and how the console does after a year.

-Wario laugh-

Really...I wouldn't get an Xbox if I had to.

The Rev is going to be something.

Nah, the first title used to be "witch system". Be glad he fixed that.

Update! The PS3 is not something we should try and get. In my magazine, one person from Sony (don't remember his name, but he was a representative of Sony while showing the PS3) and he even said "We are trying to make people realize that the Playstation 3 is not a gaming machine, but an entertainment super computer..."

Sounds like their downfall to me. Plus, the controller looks reeeealy uncomfortable (its in a boomerang shape).

I'd say the Xbox 360 will be better than PS3, because they are still trying to be a game console, they are just trying to make a more advance gaming culture by going online, and put too much focus into the internet rather than their games.

And of course, the Rev is trying to make gamers of all kind happy (note I said "gamers", not the people who want all the multimedia functions).

And the GBM looks kinda pointless.....
