"Liar. You dont look so good. We better get you to... to..." He couldnt think of a healer off the top of his head, and he had a sneaky suspicion that a darklighter's anatomy would be different than a human's, so a doctor's visit would be out of the question. "Damn it. You'd think I'd have my own whitelighter..."

A thought occured to him. "JON!! He has a whitelighter... can you still orb?" He had no idea that the atheme was a power-draining one.

Austin hesitantly looked at the baby in the crib, half thinking she could help. Shrugging off the notion, Austin decided he would have to carry Brook out. He grabbed a baby-backpack and slip Jessica in so he could carry her without using his hands. He turned back and picked up Brook. He was actually thankful, for once, that he had vampire strength. His old teleportation powers would'a been nice, but he'd make do with what he had.

"Just hold on. I'll... I'll... I'll get you to safety." He honestly didnt know where he'd go, but he had to do something.

Mason was flamed in behind them. He quickly patted out flames on his arm as he cursed Matt under his breath. He took the form of a random citizen he saw on the street one day. "Austin! Brook!" He ran over to them. "I'm Chris, one of Jen's charges. She sensed Brook in trouble, and since she was in the middle of something, she sent me with this potion." He decided to send Brook a telepathic message to ensure she played along. Roman sent me. He decided the risk of you dying outweighed the current mission. He looked over at Austin and the baby. "Oh, uh. I think we may have a problem. This potion barely works to carry three as it is, I doubt it'll work for all four of us. You'll have to stay behind, Austin. We need to get Brook and the baby to safety."

((Sorry about running out yesterday. I had to run an errand for my grandpa, then as soon as I got there he guilted me into doing some work for him.))

Mason took the baby and Brook and threw the potion on the floor, teleporting to Matt's lair.

"Bail? Me? Never!" he said in a macho, comical way. "What can I do? Just name it." He was falling for Brook all over again, and had strangely forgotten about Alyssa.

He paused for a moment. He knew a lot of Marks, so he didnt know who she was talking about at first, but by the look on her face he figured it out. "Oh. Mark..." He thought it over, taking into account Mark probably didnt know he was human/undead. Shadow kept things from spreading fast in the underworld. Not many knew of Austin's situation, and from the memories he had from the Seer, he knew that most believed he was still a full blown, fully powered assasin. "I guess so... I mean, he used to be one of our buddies.... back when we were evil."

About an hour later Mark Shimmered in, all beaten up and bloody, with his clothes torn and his hair messed up (which was an even more unusual occurrence). He saw the two sitting on the couch, waiting rather unpatiently.

He tossed Brook the atheme. "There's your powers." He wiped some blood off of his face and sat down to take a breather. "Whew. Those demons did NOT want me to have that atheme. That lady must really want you powerless."

"Oh yeah. Almost forgot about that." He smiled and half laughed. "Hey old buddy. What have ya been up to, I havent been able to find ya lately. You got a cloaking spell on ya or something?"

"Or something." He wasnt sure whether or not to tell Mark her was human...ish.

"Oh well, I guess it's workin for ya." He took a good look at Austin. "You ok man? You look a little dead."

He held back a laugh. "Yeah I feel like it somedays." this time he did laugh.

"Well anyways I have a job for ya. This wealthy ghost broad got on the nerves of--"

Austin cut him off. "I dont do that line of work anymore. I'm...er retired, you could say."

Mark looked a little dumbfounded. "Oh. Well... that throws a kink in the works now doesnt it.
