"Yes. Her owner was selling her stables and couldn't keep any of the horses. Mum and Dad brought Missy home, and she finally grew up enough that we could train her," Kayce said with an affirmative nod. Missy, oddly enough, was the only 'normal' equine on the property. "We have a lot of creatures here: horses, dragons, lions, a winged dog. Do you have pets and creatures at home?"

Creatures? She didn't think so. Unless Darsais counted. "No," answered Nereida, shaking her head. "Maybe I'll ask mom for one."
"Can I see your animals?"

Kayce slid off the edge of her bed, draining her glass in one last gulp. "They are lots of work to take care of, but I don't mind," she added as an afterthought. "And I'll show you. Some of them don't like people and stay out in the woods, though. But Missy is out in the stables; I'll show her to you." With that, the fae made her way towards the door and the stairs, beckoning a hand at Nereida to follow.

Nereida hopped off the bed and followed Kayce, empty glass in hand. She put a little spring into her step, eager to see a live horse instead of just a picture.
"Where are the stables?"

Kayce scurried down the stairs, making a short detour to the kitchen to put her empty glass in the dishwasher. She gave Nereida a curious look. "Are you still thirsty?" she inquired before making a gesture with her hand toward the back door. "The stables are out there, in the back."
'Stable' was perhaps a bit of a misnomer. The place housed everything from dragons to horses to wild creatures of who-knows-what sort. "It's usually empty except for Rajni and Missy, but a lot of the wild creatures on the property hide in it during bad weather," the fae added by way of explanation. "Mum inherited it with the house from her parents, and she kept it."

Nereida was a little thirsty, but she'd rather not be carrying the glass around, so she put it in the dishwasher as well. "No, I'm fine," she stated, following Kayce to the window.
"You've got a big back yard!" Exclaimed Nereida.
Though, she had the entire ocean as a back yard, so she knew a thing or two about big backyards.

Kayce managed a rare half-smile. "Yes," was her sole response before she headed for the back door and held it open for Nereida to run out on the porch. She loved her big backyard. There was so much space to run around, ride Missy, climb trees, escape her family, and just generally have a good time. Oh, and there was her private target area, but maybe she had better not show Nereida that.

Nereida stepped out onto the porch and was amazed by how clean the air smelled. It hadn't been like this on the other side of the house, even.
"Is your backyard magic?" she asked, feeling a little silly as she said it.

"No, but it feels like it," Kayce said, closing the back door behind them and jogging down the porch stairs and onto the grass. She always loved it out here, and the idea of snow coming soon invigorated her further. How she was looking forward to that white stuff that could be made into such pretty sparkling structures. "This way," she said, beckoning with her hand to the wooden building situated a hundred or so feet back from the house. The main door was open, as usual, to allow people and creatures to go in and out. There was one stall door closed, though, and that was the one Kayce headed for.
Right as she reached it, a large, dark head poked up over the top of it, and the Morgan filly snorted a massive breath into her favorite person's hair.
Kayce smiled. "This is Missy."

She was so big! Nereida jumped back a little, surprised by the horse's sudden appearence. Collecting her wit, she stepped back towards Missy and Kayce.
Slowly, she stroked the horse's nose. "She's so soft!"

Missy seemed momentarily surprised by the new face and then gave a happy whinny and snuffed at Nereida's hand, obviously not minding this new person in the least.
"She likes to play too. Her full name is Mistress Mayhem," Kayce added as the horse made good on her name and began nibbling on Kayce's hair.

Nereida giggled, watching the horse nibbling on Kayce's hair, and then wondered if Kayce was aware it was doing to. "Do you mind her doing that?"

Kayce shook her head, and Missy ceased nibbling, instead content to sniff at Kayce's shirt. "No. It tickles, actually," she said, and it was the truth. "Did you want to see her up close?" she inquired, reaching for the halter that hung on the hook beside the stall door. Missy needed to get out anyway.

"You mean we can take her out?" Nereida asked, almost twittering with excitement. Or as close to twittering as someone who sounded like rushing water could manage, at least. "That would be awesome!

Kayce nodded and quietly slipped the halter over the filly's head, carefully tightening the buckle that rested on the horse's cheek. She slipped her fingers beneath it to check the fit and then gathered the leadrope in one hand, reaching over to unlatch the stall door. "You might want to step back," she added cautiously before swinging the door open.
Missy, having been antsy ever since she saw the halter, trotted eagerly out of the stall and into the open hall. She gave a happy whinny, tail swishing about and hindquarters dancing back and forth.
