Taking exactly 2 steps towards her standing in almost the exact same position that he began in he draws his blade shifting his weight into the attack. It was a sweeping motion from the left to the right. The more weight thrown into the attack the quicker and faster the blade attacked.
"This is the basics of Battou Ryuu..."
In normal situations the user of this technique, when going head on, is decided by the weight of the user as well as upper body strength, however, because of the fact that the sword Rui is using is a reverse bladed sword the speed at which it exits of the sheath is slowed by a half a second and will never slash an opponet making it impossible to kill him.
Rui swung but his true strength wasn't demonstrated in the attack. His heart wasn't placed into it. The speed, still great, was not his strongest nor fastest quick draw.

Mahiro eyes followed the man's movements from the beginning to the end. Battu also known as iai or fast draw technique. She was used to that kind of attack since her brother always used them during training. However this was the very first time she saw someone doing this attack with a reverse blade. The guy was really amusing, more than she had expected. However as a master of close combat iai was not going to work so well on her. Leaping off the ground Mahiro rises her legs just to kick him on his shin with a reverse scorpion tail kick. On the same movement she tumbles so she can land safety on the ground.

Trying to use his sheath to defend against the kick Rui takes a step back and attemps to create a barrier with his steel sheath. However the sheath did not stand a chance and she was able to avoid the sheath and kick him anyway.
Rui took a few steps back and nodded. He sheathed his sword and then tied his sheath to his left hand using the decortive rope the was ornimantly tied to it.
He drew his blade once again instead this time holding the sheath out infront and his actual sword behind to the side. If imagining a clock the sheath would have been held at 12 as the sword was being held at 5. He pointed the sheath directly at her.
"Konomo ryuu..."
Throwing the sheath at her right shoulder the sheath sung threw the air as he immediately followed up with the attack with a slash from his sword.

Mahiro scans the movements of his sword as her hand slowly rises. Following the moves she rises her hand a little and catches the sheeth firmly. Looking at the sword comming down at her she smirks and says: "Not yet !" Her arms moves forward with the sheeth on her hand and forcefuly sheeths his sword. Holding the sheeth still she stops his blade and smiles and so she pushes the blade to hit him with the ending of the sword handle.
{Sorry if my explanation of the move is not very good, I am really sleepy but still wanted to post tonight. I hate when people have to wait for me.}

Rui smiled as he opened his left hand and yanked on the rope tied to the sheath. The sword and the sheath came flying back into his hand as he once again drew his sword. He placed the blunt end of the blade on the sheath and began to rub up and down on the sheath creating sparks to fly. Friction casued by the two metals rubbing up against each other drew with intensity as Rui used the rope around the sheath and began to swing it around above his head. He let the sheath fly again aiming for her's sword arm as he came in with his sword again trying to disarm her.

(I will assume you are using a leather wire to hold it right ?)
Mahiro was almost hit by his attack however in the last instant she managed to dodge the attack. The blunt part of his sheath moves the cloth of her sleeve as it passes by really close to her armed arm. Taking the opportunity Mahiro cuts the wire making his sheath fly away from where they are and so she tried to hit him in the face with a high round kick filled with energy. "This guy is good" She thought as she tested his skills, of course he never landed a single blow yet but he was slowly getting closer to do so.
