Progress Update (Sept 19th)

Yesterday I did most of the pencil work for wish_of_wings' comission. We agreed on an art exchange so I'm doing a full-body of her avatar. Just a few things to fix up on it and it'll be ready for the ink treatment. I might do that tonight now that I have a good reference for drawing a gun. I am *slightly* worried that photobucket will not let me upload such a large drawing but if that ends up being a problem I'll E-mail out the comission instead. I considered scanning up the pencil job and sticking it up here... but somehow I doubt many would be curious to see in-progress work at this point. Besides, there are some things in the penciling that are bothering me at this point and nobody needs to see my crappy mistakes... sweatdrop

Oh, I might at some point more offer larger-scale drawings... but at this time I'm seeing how well I can juggle this. Larger drawings will likely require a charge; either that or I'll only draw avatars I like or have some good inspiration for. Anyway, that's it for the progress update for now. I might just decide to finish off wish_of_wings' comission today. But I also have an urge to play several rounds of Unreal Championship 2 on my XBOX, induldge in episodes of Star Trek: TNG, or play with this sweet posing program I obtained a few weeks ago (I'll never be without a pose reference for a drawing again! AIEEEE!!!)...

Progress Update and Notes:

Wish_of_wings' comission is nearly completed; just have to finish some of the 3-tone shading. I almost did it yesterday but didn't quite feel like it. After that, I am going to attack the recent set of comsisions in BATCHES, roughly in the order I received them in. I've divided up confirmed comissions into paragraphs in the first page; that should give you an idea of the aproximate order I'm going to handle them in.

As it does seem I'm getting more swamped, I do not think I can hold to my "I'll try to get it done within a week." While the heads take me less than an hour to do (depending a bit on complexity), that adds up when you have TEN of them comissioned in a week. xd

Progress Update: Sept 22nd

So... wish_of_wings' comission is officially completed. Granted there are some things I'd change about it, but only if I went back and did full tone shading as opposed to 2-tone and 3-tone shading. I did end up using some full-tone shading on the scarf. It just looked really terrible using 2-tone so I broke down and decided to smack a gradient onto it. The gradient is subtle enough that it doesn't disrupt the continuity of the piece, as the rest of it is all 2-3-toned I was a bit worried about that at first. I like it enough though, to print it out (sadly, only in black and white) and stick it up in my cubicle at work, though. Heh.

Now that I've got a full-body sample posted up here, I bet I'm going to get some people requesting that. Well, I'm not going to stick up any rules in the first posts YET, but bottom line on me taking full-body work is this:

#1) I have to like your avatar, want to draw your avatar, and be inspired by it in some way.

Really, if I don't like it and if I don't feel the essence of the character as I'm drawing it, the final product is going to suck anyway. confused

Expansion of offerings has been crossing my mind, but with 10+ comissions in the mill, it's been in the back of my mind. Anyway, 'nuff of the ramblings...
