Wicca, as a word, may have been used in the thirteenth century, but as a religion, it would not have been. The concept of paganism is very well older than the 13th century, but Wicca itself (I'm fairly certain), has been around for less than a century. It descends from Pagan religions, so yes, it is possible that there are witch bloodlines, but please, keep in mind that they are witch bloodlines. rather than wiccan bloodlines.

If you are going to read only some of the posts... please try to at least read the more recent few. And also, using an opinionated statement like a fact is offensive to other people's beleifs. If someone told you that what you believed in was full of crap and that was the end of it, you wouldn't be happy either. It's one thing to state an opinion, but another to stop people from forming their own. Also - That doesn't really have much to do with the argument at all... Unless you're saying that the past few generations are the only ones that have ever included witches, which is something entirely different different. I have reason to believe Witches have been around for a long time.
I didn't say it was crap, I just restated what you said yourself. I could say the Creation story in Genesis was a myth... I'm not saying it's crap, I'm saying it's myth, which is what it is. It's not literal, it's a story. I could say the same for the Greek myths... the Norse myths... the Celtic myths... it's no different.

point taken but my point remains valid that somewhere there has to be a farely extensive line of witches or wiccans.

Well it wouldn't be that long if it was Wiccans... maybe two or three generations... four at the most and that's stretching it. Witch practices in families are usually only handed down as necessity sees fit... they aren't structured religious practices like most are today, they were just superstitions, traditions (in the sense of "we do this every year") and such. Things like spells would only be handed down if the person needed it, so a lot of the original practices would be lost with previous ancestors who didn't pass them on because they didn't need to, or the son/daughter didn't want to (not all kids wanna do what their parents do, right?). And even then, not all of them called themselves witches... a lot of them just said it was their family's way, and some would even be offended at being called a witch. A lot of them worked within a Christian framework too.
Also, people like to add things as they find them and take interest in them. That's what happened with Wicca: Gardner was initiated as a Witch, he then added a lot of stuff from Ceremonial Magic to it, and made Wicca.

In short, even if such practices were being handed down for generations, they're fragmented at best, and probably very different from how they were originally. Ronald Hutton talks a lot about this in Triumph of the Moon

Everything differs over time... Theres no stopping or changing that... And I think you speak too generally in your previous post. I know that many people choose to try and teach their children as much and best as they can... Theres more to learn than someone could possibly get through in a lifetime, so whatever headstart they can give seems like a good idea. Also, saying 'Because it is' goes directly against what I have just said... You may state your opinion all you like, but failing to take helpful advice while rubbing things in is just being arrogant. Please stop. Do no pretend to regard a post and agree with it if you are not going to do anything about what I mentioned.

I think she has a point. Some parents may deffinitely enjoy teaching their children everything they know, but my mom, per instance, doesn't. She's a well of knowledge when it comes to everything connected to the occult/spirituality/crowley and such... but she never tells me anything and even if I ask I get very short and "I'm not in the mood, go away" anwsers.

A lot family knowledge would have deffinitely gotten lost.

I didn't state any opinion in my last post, I merely provided logical reasoning as to why an "ancient religion passed down, etc" is unlikely, there's no need to get so huffy about it.
Where did I say "because it is"? What advice was I given? To shut up, stop putting out an alternative view and conform? Why should I? Because you say so? Please. I can comment on whatever the ******** I want, whatever post I want. Someone posts a comment, I post a comment in reply.... No? Advice to read the other posts? What makes you think I didn't? Because I didn't reply to them? Who the ******** cares about previous unrelated posts? They had nothing to do with the comment in question, I had nothing to say on them.
If noone ever challeneged people's thoughts then a lot would still wrongly believe things like Wicca being hundreds of years old. There's nothing wrong with challenging people or disagreeing with them. Beliefs are one thing, but history is another. I'm not gonna shut up and ignore real history just because "it's their belief". That's bullshit.
If you can't cope with the fact that some people have alternative stances and look at things more logically, then leave me alone.

They're talking about the 7 original Witch clans (bloodlines) here. What kind of clan is Mac Mohon? Indian or something?

It is Irish. I hear it is very old.

It is. I thought the name sounded familiar and I found where I know it from. I have a few books on celtic and Irish history. It mentions MacMahon though, not MacMohon, around the 14th century. I went to search online and found a few things you might be interested in.

If you like those sorts of things, that is.
