Aiko_589 che_hyun Aiko_589 japan is democratic stare Yeah, but the US boasts about it more (not good -.-) and we sort of use it as a reason to be lazy about things like schools. Japan actually gets things done. That's the difference. well, in our minds, you are uncivilized and rude (sorry sweatdrop ) weather unconciously or conciously (of course we are still very friendly) another thing about you is that you get much to close to our personal space. (teavher that taught me english at north america disgust me at how close they get there students) Yes a lot of people in California are rude, but there are a lot of nice people. In Cali, I actually had to argue with adults (ME?!) because they kicked my brother off a videogame and the dad told me to piss off. stare Jerk. The thing is the mom was afraid of OUR mom. Like I just said. Jerks. stare You're right about that though. If you ever come to America, (which I hpe you don't because they've gotten out of hand with a lot of things) Don't go to Cali. Lots of crazys.

(teavher that taught me english at north america disgust me at how close they get there students) Hahahahah. Yeah. Sometimes its nice to look up to them as like a sort of mother/father figure, and its fun to joke sometimes. But that depends on what your definition of 'close' is. There have been issues of teachers having relationships with students in the past. Probably will in the future too. Sometimes it's nice to just sort of be free, and it's not really 'rude' in America because we're all used to it. There ARE a lot of authority problems though. Like kids who do the stupidest things when asked a simple request from adults. i mean sticking there faces in front of them to scold them instead of stepping back some what. What's even worse than that is if they don't have very good self-awareness, and they go to explain something to the kid in front of you and bend over to their desk and stick their backside in your face. That's really, really awkward. And there are some times when they should stop scolding and take out the paddle. Oh how I wish they did.

Aiko_589 put also quite a few children wil end up in tears if they try upposing the teacher. Which is good because at my school, there are a lot of kids who like to follow the gangster style, and it's time there was some discipline that they didn't just be like 'Whatever' to. scream Gak, those kids make me so angry. They refuse to do schoolwork...just stare at their papers. And they pass the class because their parents come in and tell the school that their kid had better pass or they're going to sue. And then they go and shove kids around in the hall, cuss, call names, pick fights, and the teachers don't notice. But what the teachers DO notice are the little bitty things like if you're a second late for class because the P.E. teacher let you out really late. There's something wrong with America...definitely.

Yeah, I'm going into grade 9 now. But come to think of it, there's a good chance that most of the kids who are bullies like that aren't going to stay for highschool. At least not the entire year, definitely. Another problem: High-school dropouts

(1% of japan is poor) In America, it depends where you live... a lot more inner city kids drop out than in the suburbs or the country, where I live. Generally speaking, of course. If you drop out, you do not have many opportunities either. You can be a truck driver, maybe. But a lot of people who drop out of high school end up finishing their GED later in life, because they realize they simply can't make it through life without a high school diploma. Both my parents made it through high school, but my mom had to drop out of art school because her dad got sick, and my dad never went to college because his family didn't have the money. College is more important than high school in America. Neither of my parents were ever able to get the jobs they really wanted even though they had the skills to do them, just because they didn't have a degree.

We do have several jobs that don't require much education: like working at the very many fast food places we have everywhere. But they won't get paid much. For every thousand or so dropouts, there's a single dropout who got a good-paying job. Yet there are kids who truly think that they can be one of the thousand who will make it big in life working at the Sawmill we have in my town. It's pathetic.
And there are a lot of homeless people in big cities. Oh, this just makes me so mad. We have a homeless guy in my town (he's pretty much famous because he's the only one) and he sits by the side of the road all day with a cardboard sign begging for handouts. Onee-chan told me that someone offered him a job once, but he declined, saying that begging was much more profitable.
scream
I live in the country....very, but I was looking at onee-chan's yearbooks and I look at her Class picture from 2000 and then I look at it from when she graduated. There's about half as many people in the graduating picture.
