SharinganPhoenix vahn staffear II I Kei I SharinganPhoenix Sage the Black I dunno if someone already said this, but i hate the games where you're supposed to fufill some great prophecy and everyone knows what the Hell's going on except you. Zelda, anyone? stare Seriously. Fillers, please? Here's one: Someone's always got some big important secret, something about your past, or something that'll save/cause the destruction of the entire world. ANd what do they do? They only tell you under one of two conditions: 1.) They're dying or 2.) They're (conviniently) about to die Either way, guess what happens as soon they're about to devulge their oh-so-special-and-very-important-secret? BANG! / SLASH! / STAB! /GAACK!! / etc. They're dead. And you're S.O.L. Damn, I hate that one...! stressed And it doesn't just apply to RPGs, either. That's happened in MGS1, a couple Final Fantasies...hell, it even happened, to an extent, in an episode of Power Rangers: Dino Thunder. xd power rangers*twitch* Hey, don't diss 'em. The origional trilogy was the best, and a few later series are actually decent to watch. I agree the very first power rangers and I mean the go,go power rangers were the best

iamsouledg3 Ooh! Ooh! I got one! Androgynous RPG heroes! That one is never going to stop, though, thanks to Square-Enix popularizing them way back when they were SquareSoft. That's an anime cliche, too, though. Haku, anyone? ninja

(apparently, "Makoto" is Japanese for "offensive gay stereotype"...) xd

Hell, my nephew still calls Haku a she to this day. He knows that Haku's a guy, but he doesn't accept it, apparently.

I can relate to your nephew. xd There is no way in hell Haku didn't have a gender change.

Actually, to this day, my brothers and I simply refer to all androgynous characters as "it". Makes things SO much easier.

Another one that bugs the ******** out of me, but I know that, unfortunately, it won't change anytime in this lifetime: Mary Sues and Gary Stus.
In other words, those near-perfect men and/or women in anything from RPGs to Adventure games, to some Action games that have pretty much the whole planet kissing their asses just because they so happen to be the somebody that a legendary prophecy has foretold the coming/birth of.
They always end up getting captured (and worse in some cases), seeming completely helpless until the very end of whatever conflict they were trying to prevent, where they pull some sort of awesome power out of their backsides to save the planet.

"The negro who punches you".
There has only been one punching-negro of any value, and that was Dudley.
Why must all punching negros be so low-tier in fighting games?

Blame Mike Tyson. razz The Japanese apparently saw him as the base model for the boxer character, much like they thought of Terry Bogard as the typical American.

Here's one that I have actually seen in Dragon Warrior...
"You hit the monster..." "It was an excellent hit..." (Meaning you found a weak spot or you did incredible damage like 3x to 5x the normal damage) "You missed..." (Yes, it's true, you just did 5,000 points of damage to a monster, but somehow you managed to MISSED...)

This is especially true in the cases of games where the enemies DON'T ACTUALLY MOVE, whether you hit them or not.

Sounds like Pokemon, where you pull a move that sounds like it should unavoidable... like Waterfall or something. You be like "WTF?! How could you miss with a waterfall?! scream " xd
