I haven't made any real changes to mine; but I actually got it from a friend. She said she was walking home one day and she heard my name being called out. The stick was just sitting out in front of her when she started walking after that. She brought it home and then gave it to me first chance she got. It's a nice looking wand, too. A bit shorter than most, and curved instead of straight. But it represents me well. I'm unique, have my own style, so it fits. I plan to get a few stones for it, a quartz crystal point is one of my ideas. I plan to wrap ribbon around it, too, and get other stones. But I actually found a site that talked about a possible way to make your want, or make it yours or whatever, that might help some people out. http://collegewicca.com/BOSfiles/wand.htmlFor anyone that's interested.

Wiccan_Boy _1990 i want to make a wand with a quarts crystal point at the top. i know how to make one i just dont know what to put at the other end of it :/ Another crystal? The Farrars' Witches' Bible uses amber at one end of a wand and jet at the other, signifying masculine and feminine etc. etc. Perhaps obsidian?

My friend is making me a wand out of lemon wood. She's using sun oil, shell dust (my element is water), Libra oil, and some other oil she made for me. She's also hanging a sun bead on it off a little growth. I like it already. ^^;

I read somewhere that wands are something that was originally taken from Ceremonial Magick, and that they're not even necessary, because the athame will do the same thing. Personally though, I don't think it matters. If you feel uncomfortable with metal and more comfortable with a wand, go for it. Personally, I want an athame, even though I'm an earth element. But aren't wands supposed to be associated with air? How odd....O_o

It depends on your view. Some people say that the wand if for fire and the athame is for air, some say the opposite. They both are used for the same things in ritual, yes.
I have really lost the point of my post... sorry redface

I think the wand is air and the athame is fire. But that's just me. I've heard a few people claim the reverse.

The whole air/fire thing is a matter of personal opinion. Wand for air and athame for fire fits in my mind much better. Also, I've heard of the athame being a "commanding" tool, and the wand as "inviting" and more passive. If I had to chose one to live with, I'd go for a wand. It's something I can make myself and not taken far from nature.

I very much agree with both statements. =D

I personally have always went with wand for Fire - because of trees being symbolic of energy and growth, as is fire - and athames for air. That's just my personal opinion though, it really doesn't matter one way or the other. Also, I'm currently working on a Guide to Wand Making in the Academy, suggestions would be most appreciated! 3nodding
