Lakeside Ruins ->

Fourteen would cross thr makeshift bridge, passing the checkpoints the SMC had set up to secure the location. By the general retreat, what remained of the unit would be following, though with the situation they were in, it was unlikely.

20 goons and 5 guards strolled in from the Depot.

Combined with the 5 goons and 2 guards, this gave them:

TROOPS:
- 7 Guards
- 25 Goons

DEFENSES:
- Moat
- Wall
- Trenches
- Machines

[From: Dank Caverns.
Yes, I mean it.]

"Oh, MotherFU--"

With that, a man came into almost universal view, surrounded by cold water rushing at the speed of rapids. He was being washed rather quickly away, the sunrise river having its way with him. He'd seen several terrifying things so far: the damned truck that had been wrecked yesterday sat in the same place, and that told him he'd blown through the woods. The ruins of the dam had told him similarly his orientation...
And, now, he was coming towards what he knew was up ahead: the twisted and tortured "bridge" made of the dam's wreckage. And he was coming up on it while soaked, and fast.

He impacted with enough force to knock the air out of him, but by the same virtue was washed atop the logjam.

Fuel Depot ->

Four of the UGH soldiers began to cross the bridge to the other side, one taking point ahead of all the others.

Rafts, a number of them piled up from when the dam had broken and sent all the lumber down stream, only for it to pile up here. Quin walked upon it but wasn't so sure of it.

When he was nearly a third a way across he took a seat and took out a pipe. It took a while to use his lighter, but he eventually got it going. His shoulders sagged as he inhalled and exhalled slowly. Experiance keeping him from coughing.

Jacob slowly, unsteadily moved to his feet, and again did his now-usual manuever.

That was smiling and waving like a maniac, while hailing his fellows like a buffoon. "Hey! You guys! SCM, right? Jacob Bails, Mercenary fighting for Skinner."

He moved across the bridge at this point as soon as weapons were lowered. He was partially reinvigorated by the fortifications which met his eyes, and the destinct recognition that he'd heard mortars.

He'd seen the shade's big guns, and they had arms. And he figured the villagers probably would think artillery meant a blunderbuss loaded with nails.

That was skinner engineering. He virtually growled his next comment to the assembled faceless miners. "Where's a radio? If we're on the attack, I want a piece of that cake. They ran from me before-- time to take it into their houses."
He actually stopped walking momentarily after speaking that. It wasn't Jacob at all...
But, on the other hand, seeming big and terrifying would probably be good at the moment.

Athan was back at the 'bridge', his arms coming up to cross in front of his chest as he looked across the lake to the ruins that he had fled from hours earlier.

His brow furrowed, jaw setting as he stared at the structures. They were an obstacle, nothing more. Whatever was in there wasn't enough to make him turn back twice. Not while there was so much at stake.

Not while he still had a life to live.

His right hand drew the large sword from his back, while his left moved across his body to grasp the shortsword at his side. He drew the smaller weapon from its sheathe, giving it a quick spin before he nodded his head, and gave himself several cuts along his right arm.

Either the blood reacted with the sword, or just the pain itself, but the shortsword was growing. After a few minutes the blood had already begun to coagulate, and the sword had nearly doubled in length. It was about a half foot shorter than the one in his right hand, with room to grow.

Jacob was, soon enough, lead into the fort and to one of the full-sized radios. There wasn't much as far as leaders went among the miners: the mercenaries were running the show.

Jacob settled for getting yet another portable radio, and some warm food in the mean time. He kept his eyes peeled on the other mercenaries that were about, though-- the tall man with the two (now quite sizeable) swords, the pretty-boy-type he'd caught glances of before-- he was ready to move when they were.

The NPC forces would hold position here, defending against anyone who tried to cross the bridge.

They would await the signal from the other side before advancing.

The four UGH soldiers crossed the bridge. They would not be the ones attacking, however, they'd provide cover fire for the mercenaries.

Well that seemed a good a sign as any, emptying the ashes into the waters Quin put the pipe away before standing up. Forcing energy into his leg so as to move foward he began his part of the charge. His left hand going for his second flintlock.

Moving as swiftly as one could across the unstable brigde Quin was heading for the ruins.

Athan looked towards the mercenaries that had gathered, then to the soldiers that had advanced across the bridge. A deep breath, his head lowered, eyes ********, stop thinking so hard, just do what you always do.

He nodded his head, opened his eyes, and spoke without turning back to the others.

"Let's go."

He was already jogging across the bridge. Despite his anticipation, he was still not a huge fan of the water, so he was going to make sure he didn't fall in.

That sign came quite quickly and simply.

Men started to cross the bridge.

Jacob looked for if anyone had a plan in particular, even asking the miners.
"We're just going to hold the fort. You can take 'em..."

With that answered, he started across the bridge, once again partially wreathing himself in shadows, a slight darkening, making it nearly impossible to see him through the night.

It was go time.

Finally able to jog, Mooo came across the floating chunks of the dam--this would be a feat. Rolling his shoulders out, then leaning over to stretch out his legs, then leaning back to pop out his spine, Mooo took a few steps back, then hopped for the first platform, windmilling his arms to maintain his balance upon landing, holding for just a minute so the large concrete piece didn't tip over too much.

When it stabilized, Mooo skipped to the next, then the one after, pausing every few pieces so he didn't overdo it, wanting to keep his balance and his energy in case there was fighting off over by the ruins--his destination.
