Phaedra Lycoris Sweetie, I went through a string of relationships like that... meet this guy, he's really great, seems to like me for ME (all of me biggrin )... things are going really well, couldn't be better... oh, he has a new friend, how nice... she's tall, slim, society's standards of perfect... also a perfect b****, but who cares right? Cuz she's "hot".... oh, what's this? You hate her but you're leaving me for her? Gee, thanks!.... Self esteem (what little I have anyway) plummets to somewhere in the subterranean depths... Cry cry cry... Pick up pieces of shattered heart, whip out the Superglue and stick them back together... Oh, hey, I made a new friend.... repeat cycle ad nauseam.
I know how it is and I know how much it sucks! But trust me, there ARE guys out there who are not only mature enough to see a person for who they really are and go by that... but also who are smart enough to like us voluptuous, zaftig women. biggrin You'll find one who deserves you... this one obviously did not. *hugs*
Just be ready... he'll probably come crawling back once he realizes the huge mistake he made by giving up a great woman to run off with Lil Miss Thang. God I hate guys like that. Then they expect us to take them back when they get dumped by the little twig.

Okay folks, we all know this guy is an a**...but, let's look at this objectively shall we?
Lesson number one, shallow men need their ego stroked to survive. I really don't think there is a better case of that then this. "Oh wow I hate you so much but...you're hot and if you like me it makes me look good...yay"
Lesson number two, I don't think this has anything to do with you, there is nothing wrong with you. You're strong and lovely and you did nothing to bring on what he did to you. I think it was more a factor of him having a thing for her from the get-go. Just by the way he talked about her all the time...even if it was bad she was on his mind none the less. Have you ever heard the expression "Thou protest too much?" Meaning simply that if you complain about someone all the time you may be hiding underlying feelings that you don't want to admit to. You try to convince yourself that you don't like them by talking about how horrible they are. But all the while you are, in fact, making them stick in your mind all the more. I think he tried to convince himself verbally and hoped that it would take more meaning if it was to his GF. But when she said she liked him back that may have been all he needed to stop going against his feelings.
Regardless of what happened he should have had more respect for how you felt and should have been more honest. But it probably wasn't your looks that made him stop dating you, after all he must have liked you to have been with you in the first place. You may think that it was the way you look because, as a fact, we overanalyze and find the one thing about us we dislike the most, amplify it, and blame it. More than likely you dislike your looks more then he does. You shouldn't feel that way, though. I'm sure you're far better then you think.
