Kyala smiled warmly to her scouts after greeting Toreth and Chandra, nodding her head to excuse their tardyness. She also held up one halting finger to Rosette. "Wait just one moment please, I need to speak wtih my scouts first, though Chrono is certaintly a matter to be discussed." Raising one eyebrow and grinning knowingly she motioned for the two Dragons and their Rider's to step forward as she stepped of the dias, so that they could be face to face. She noted their proud but nervous stances and smiled reassuringly.
Focusing on the four just before her then she said, "As you know, you four have been trained extensively in aerial manuvers and flight patterns due to you and your partners talents. Veraldimir and Cain, you will be flying fast and low as the primary scouts and will also play your part as a decoys once the mission is under way. Curizon and Fieryn stay above. You two will use your talents to hone in on the enemy force and pinpoint their locations. You will also need to dispose of any scouts who venture too far from the main body, quickly and quietly." From within one of her pockets Kyala produced two armbands, each was identical with silver and black stripes and the image of an eye with dragon wings in white. Stepping off the dais she clasped the armbands on the two Rider's arms. In one of her most formal voices she declared, "Scout Rider's you are given the task of flying fast before reinforcements and gathering cruical information on the enemy." She also removed two patches from her poacket and handed them to the riders but adressed herself to the Dragon's. "These are to be sewn onto your harness. You should carry them proudly. Fly fast and far."
Then she stepped back and examined her new Far Scout Riders. "At the entrances to your apartments you will discover your new scouting equipment, all lightweight and for your disposal and use personally. If you require anything else notify me and you shall have it. Also a new sort of mailbox has been installed. Within you will find written orders and info on your mission. I suggest you get together and preview these before you leave. I trust that you get along well enough to work together?" She winked slightly before continuing. "If you have no questions you are dismissed, but feel free to ask anything on your mind."

Toreth sat down on the edge of the perch like area and watched as Kyala addressed the new scout riders and their dragons. Veraldimir, Cain's dragon was unique in color if you as Toreth. A pink male dragon just dosen't seem right. Curizon, Fieryn's dragon on the other hand was beautiful and he bore a strong resemblence to Kaytora, his oldest brother's dragon. Tyrkennen, Kyala dragon was something else, maybe it was the closeness in color to his Chandra, but for what ever the reason, he was quit fond ot the older dragon. Chandra herself took a bigger liking to Tyrkennen over the other dragons. He continued to watch the three in the middle as he wondered what his role would be on the team.

Drake sat alone. It's not that nobody would sit with him, he just prefered to be alone. Drake shifted his weight uncomfortably in the hard stone seat. Drake's black armor didn't reflect light, making Drake appear unnaturaly dark and evil.
"I hope they get this over with soon, and I also hope I don't have to fight with very many. They'll probably just get in my way." Drake thought over his mental link, holding a silent conversation with his dragon.
"Be patient, little one. Our time will come to fight. And at least not all of the riders are incompetent."
Drake sat silently once more, his feet resting on the back of the vacant seat in front of him. He listened carefuly to Kyala's conversation and made a comment every few minutes to Shade.

[ Cain luffs the box! x3 *Hops up and down like an idiot* ]
Fieryn could feel her heartbeat quicken as she stood so close to Cain, almost tempted to drape herself over him to take in his alluring scent. But the pride and honor of her mission took precedence at the moment, standing diligently at attention and then became more excited as Kyala snapped the armband on her limb. Not only was she now officially a noble Scout Rider, and Curizon a Scout Dragon as she was handed his patch, but in a way she and Cain were bonded! They matched! They were practically on their way to her expressing her feelings to him and then he to her and then they would fall in love and get married and have many children and then *Gasp* Curizon and Veraldimir could fall in love and have hatchlings...
Wait, Veraldimir was male. Oh well, then they could just be good friends...
At hearing the further perks she was to receive she grew even more anxious, and a shy blush befell her cheeks to Kyala's winking statement. There was actually something she wanted to address to her BattleLance, but seeing as a wave of strong emotion had taken hold of her her fickle power burst in a fit. Before she could open her mouth her eyes shrunk at noticing the tip of her lance catch flame and slowly grow... No! Tapping the point nervously to the ground to quell the spark, Curizon with his infinite patience simply stretched his neck forward and snorted a blast of air on the tip to extinguish the fire. Automatically Fieryn raised her hand up and scratched under his chin, pretty and smart Dragon that he was. Taking that as her cue to calm down, and trying to regain herself after such an embarassing spectacle (and in front of Cain!) she looked gregariously to Kyala.
"In honor of your new position, I'd like to give you one of my works. You have a great love for animals, right? I've built a rather large and ornate birdcage and I think it would be perfect for you...after our battles today, please come to my apartment so I can give it to you!"
Her smile masked her true intention, though while it would be nice to give Kyala the gift, she really just wanted conference with her alone at some point. There was an important matter from her past she wanted to convey, and not in front of her beloved.

Scout Riders! Too awesome! Cain thought, his head swimming with what he had just been told to do. If he wasn't excited before, he sure was now. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he was being chatised for being so happy. Afterall, he was pretty useless for fighting, and he and Veraldimir did fly with near-unmatchable speed... scouting work was inevitable. It still didn't keep a smile from Cain's lips, and a edged fire in his eyes. On top of the promotion of sorts, he and Veraldimir were getting new gear! To his knowledge, Cain couldn't think of any time a Rider would get new equipment unless theirs was lying in pieces. And even then, they were given mere replacements, not items crafted for their own personal needs. This day just seemed to keep getting better.
Feeling the patch in his hand and the band on his arm, a surge of pride swept through Cain, and he looked over to Veraldimir. The dragon was without snide comments, and Cain could almost swear he looked... pleased. Veraldimir never once expressed jubiliance, so Cain wasn't expecting a smile or teary face of joy. Come to think of it, Veraldimir never looked anything other than haughty and bored. If the dragon looked even vaguely amused, it was considered a miracle and a half. It wasn't that Veraldimir wasn't ever happy.... he just didn't like showing it. Afterall, being a pink dragon was tough enough without the smiles and cheering and elation.
Turning back to Kyala and Tyrkennen, Cain bowed formally. "Thank you..." he said quietly, trying his best to keep his voice level. By the time he stood straight again, his mask of composure vanished into a face of full-blown pride. "It's an honor to scout for the Riders."

Kyala gave her new scouts a half bow and a smile. "You were chosen because you are worthy." To Fieryn and Curizon she also said, "Of course, and actually I just found a youg rock rook who needs a comfortable place to stay so your gift is most appreciated. I shall visit you as soon as I am able. Now you four, go off and inspect your new things and look over your mission. Any plans are your own. Be creative. Report back to me within the hour."
Having finished her orders for the Scouts she next turned towards the rest of the group awaiting her. She saught out Rosette, still clinging to that mysterious boy Chrono and loosed a little sigh. Tyrkennen nudged her shoulder gently, his softly scaled nose making a dull clink against her armour, and a slight sparkle in his gorgeous eyes. "Veraldimir looked almost happy and your Scouts are quick to love real leadership. You are taken well by the Riders." Kyala lovingly pushed his nose away and scolded, "You are playing the kitten again. Thank goodnesst Curizon got that fire out right quick. Besides those two are smitten and have the perfect requirements. Now lets tackle that Rosette before we hand out the rest of the orders."
Motioning the girl forward she had to smile at Ryukko's rather comical position, what with a lance hanging out of his mouth. "Ryukko, are you naught but a baggage animal these days?" Tyrkennen asked jokingly. Kyala hid her mouth behind her hand for a moment, but was quick to place one comforting hand on the girls shoulders. "Now Rosette. No.""

Following Cain's lead, she presented a slight bow herself and at the words of her dismissal she eagerly scrambled upon Curizon's back to take off. She loved new things! Unquenchable curiousity abounded about what awaited her and Curizon, and she could not wait to see. Scratching the edges of her Dragon's scales, as if it would make him go faster, he snickered as he got the hint and lifted off to bring them back to their home. A million thoughts raced through Fieryn's mind as they glided through the air, like how to prepare and what to do, as well as tinkering ideas in case her new equipment needed any 'improvement'. She had not even seen it yet, but that didn't mean her busy hands couldn't embellish on it! Landing upon their balcony, the force of Curizon's wings caused the many windchimes lining the area to sound and Fieryn raced off amongst the cacophany toward her door. There was no time to waste!

"Better than being called a kitten."Ryuuko chided in response. "Besides, what kind of baggage mule can set things on fire at will?"
"What? Hey! Kyala, I haven't even asked you a question yet!" Rosette replied indignantly.
"Rosette, maybe this isn't a good idea..."Chrono replied timidly.
"Chrono, you above anyone understands the gravity of this!"Rosette shot back. "Kyala, you have to give me a chance. I've been hiding this for a while... and since you've already poured so much trust into me, it's on right that I do the same..."
Rosette gnawed on her lip, thinking of a way to explain this delicately. He finally decided then and now was not the best solution.
"When is the soonest we may speak in private?"

Toreth hide a smile with his hand when Fieryn caught her lance on fire. "I'm sure going to enjoy the company of her, aswell as the other's that are hear. I just can't wait to find out what my job is."
"You will my dear, in do time. For now just be patient and watch the Battlelance, there is much you need to learn from her and learn of her. If she is in charge of everything she is going to be the one person you need to know everything about. For it will be are job to know what she wants along with knowing what she needs even if she does not know she needs it."
Toreth turned and looked at Chandra, never had he heard such wisdom and truth in what she said. Infact, in all the four years of their lives together she had not spoken as much as she had today in a month. "Chandra, I do believe this day has changed you. Or at least it has only made you better."
"My dear Toreth, it has changed you to as you will soon find out."
Toreth scratched her shoulder where he sat and pondered her words. Ths was a new side of her and one he knew he was going to welcome greatly in the coming days.

"I'd rather be a kitten who could bite through steel than a pyroistic old a**," Tyrkennen retorted, his jaws split in a draconic smile. Privately to Kyala he sent, "I enjoy Ryukko's wit. Is he in the Sweep crew with us?" To which Kyala replied, "All in good time dear friend. Lets take it one thing at a time."
Kyala grimaced slightly but nodded her head after a moment. "Alright Rosette, plead your case after all the assignments are given out. Untill then off with you and not another peep on this! And get that lance out of his mouth." That acting as a final dismissive command she then returned to the dias. When the light caught her silver armor she looked like she was wrethed in silver flames and her bright auburn hair only aded to the efect. Once again she raised her lance.
"Riders Ryan, Calidar, Toreth," she called, (her bright voice carrying easily throughout the bowl though she was aware all three partnerships were already present) and Tyrkennen bellowed, "Dragons Torokal, Tanneth and Chandra." Together they said, "Present yourselves to recieve your orders and stations within the Riders."
She lowered her lance and placed it for safe keeping behind Tyrkennens saddle. While she waited for the three pairs to assemble before the dias she rummaged in her pockets for another set of bands and patches. It was good to give them symbols to rely on, it kept them strong and united, and the patches and bands performed the task admirably. These also were stripped black and silver, but the symbol in white was of a clenched fist with dragon wings on either side.

As soon as Kyala and Tyrkennen had left, Cain let out a short sigh of relief and moved out of the area of the dias, collapsing into a chair. It was hard to be formal. Veraldimir had already lost his look of appreciation, and from the way that he was eyeing Cain, Cain knew he was about to suffer another blow to his pride.
"An honor, huh?" the dragon snickered pleasantly."I don't know what's funnier, you using the word while being serious for once in your life, or the fact that your vocabulary includes the word in the first place!"
Cain shrugged his shoulder, shaking his head in defeat. "I'm suprised too... though not as suprised as when I found you actually enjoying yourself."
Veraldimir pawed at the ground huffily. "I was merely showing respect for our leaders.... I was definitely not enjoying myself, thanks."
Cain bit his lip, holding back a laugh."Uh-huh. Believe me, I'd chalk it up to that if I could... I mean, the possibility that your polar ice cap of a heart actually melted for once seems near impossible.... but still...."
"Cain Lylesdale, if you even think about mention me smiling, I swear to the heavens above that I'll drop you from a very, very very high location when next we're out... in front of your lady friend...."
Frowning, Cain ran the scenario over his head, brow furrowed in concentration. After a moment, he relaxed, nodding slighly. "You know.... I'm not to keen on that implication.... so I'll save my opinions for later. But since you mentioned it.... where is Fieryn and Curizon?"
Veraldimir rolled his eyes. "Oh, they left while you were busy trying to convince me that you aren't a kiss-arse."
"What?!? I am no such thing!" Cain shot his partner a look of death, before getting up from his chair, grumbling inwardly about how badly Veraldimir treated him. abuse from a dragon he thought wryly that's a new one.
"I guess she went to her room for the new stuff," Cain thought aloud. Looking to Veraldimir, he continued. "So... we should be going to then, right? We only have an hour."
"I'm not getting any younger by standing here, you know."
"Right." Climbing onto Veraldimir carefully, Cain had little time to get situated before the dragon shot into the air and out of the bowl, streaking towards the room. Within a minute, they were on the balcony to their quarters. Cain hopped off and wobbled momentarily, his head still spinning from being unprepared for the flight speed. As soon as he had his footing, he dashed to the door. New stuff was always good.

Peering her head out the doorway, squeals seeming unnatural to emit from such a tiny thing as her resounded from her gaping mouth. Her eyes shimmered and drooled to the sights before her as well. Neatly folded and stacked next to Fieryn's new mailbox was her gift of scouting armor and equipment, beyond the expectations of what she could have hoped for. And to top the elation, her armor was of her and her partner's riding colors! Kneeling down before the bounty Fieryn looked over each item, throughly appreciating the effort put into it. This maroon leather breatplate definately put her old chainmail vest to shame, removing and tossing it inside her quarters as the thought crossed her mind. Shoulder plates, waist flaps, even new boots met her eager face- all stunning, and of course lightweight.
"Curizon! This riding equipment is marvelous! I cannot wait to put it on, though perhaps I should rinse off and eat more first. We must be perfect for our first battle day! You ate, didn't you?"
"Yes. I snatched a deer as you we were konked out this morning, my dear Fie. I am ready asides...the lovely patch for my harness. You will not forget to sew it on?"
A faux whimpering tone snatched his last thought, and resting his head by the partitioning curtain his eye looked as if it might pout.
Looking through her doorway back to him a moment, she then rolled her eyes back to the new toys.
"Don't worry, silly. It shall be done."
Her hand felt across a belt of pouches, small and individual for any utilities she required. Seeing one of the pockets half-opened, at releasing the contents she discovered a compass. Excellent! That way, heheh, they wouldn't have to just say 'Go over there' as directions sounded much better in combat. The other pouches held a small dose of medical supplies, and some pockets were empty. But in one she found the thing that made her eyes shine and heart warm the most. In a slow and sentimental manner, she unraveled a new light blue headband to join her for battle. Touching at the olden one already upon her brow, she smiled softly at the kind gesture and almost grew tearful. The tan band held great meaning to her, but with this gift a new age would start- it feeling to be the most symbolic item of her attire even above her arm and wristband. She, Fieryn Tukoberson, was now a Rider. Removing the current band from her head, she placed it upon her pile of treasures as she collected them in her arms. Rising from her kneel, she almost scurried right back into her home to change before she remembered the mailbox. Blinking, she decided to rush to Curizon and set the new things before him for him to see.
"Isn't it great! I have to check our written orders, too, though."
Excitedly giving him a kiss on the snout, Fieryn skipped back to her door as Curizon chuckled and marveled over what she had gotten. Eyeing the mailbox closer this time, she was now able to appreciate the exquisite craftsmanship used for its assembly. The work matched her own, and as she opened it she smiled to see the waiting formal papers inside. She had just begun to read over them as she heard a noise at Cain's door, probably indicating that he would be coming out soon. Gulping a bit, she masked her face with nonchalance as in actuality she could not wait to see him and his new equipment stuffs.

"Touche', Tyrkennen..." Ryuuko replied, a smile forming around the edges of his jaws not clamped around Rosette's lance. Speaking of Rosette, she was nearly lvid with Kyala, only calmed when Chrono patted her lightly on the shoulder.
"You sure you still want to do this?"
"Hell yes!" She snapped, jumping up a few steps to get to Ryuuko faster.
"You heard the lady, spit it out." She told him.
"Awww, do I have to? I like the taste of it!"Ryuuko joked.
"You'll taste a lot more when I shove a handful of spells up that grat snout of yours."

"Well Chandra do you hear that, it's our turn. And it looks like we are being paired with a man with a male dragon and a girl with a female dragon. It looks like we are the odd pair in this group for we are a man and a female dragon." Toreth said as he climbed into Chandra's saddle. "I don't think it will be a problem though do you."
"I don't think it will be a problem at all dear"
She spread her wings at his command and they lifted smoothly of the edge of the bowl like chamber with one wing beat. Then they glided down at an easy pass coming to land right in front of Kyala and Tyrkennen. Toreth got out of the saddle and stood just off to the side of Chandra’s Left shoulder in the position of attention. "Toreth and Chandra reporting for duty, Mama!" Chandra also stood straight with her head high and wings folded. They made and impressive pair.

Calidar relaxed her grip on her lance and vaulted to Tanneth's back. She settled in the seat of her saddle and braced herself for Tanneth's jump. Though she was barely jostled when Tanneth made the leap, the pressure pushed her deep in the saddle. Tanneth stretched her wings out wide and glided down to the bottom of the bowl where Kyala and Tyrkennen were. Tanneth backwinged and landed, and Calidar slid off her back. She turned to face Kyala.
"Kyala," she said, "what are your orders? Tanneth and I are ready."
