She nodded, a smug smile across her features. She had a feeling this was a hyena for she had met plenty of canines in her life and this one didn't look like any of the others. It had quite a bit more hair than a wild dog.... or even a maned wolf in Kia's opinion. Kari's confirmation of Kia's suspicion made her feel all the more confident.
Upon studying the creature she noticed that it was indeed not dead. It's chest rise and fell so she, like Kari, deduced that this creature must be living.
Kia's green eyes scanned lightly over the creature, a quizzical expression written on her features as she continued to stare--no mater how impolite it was.
"Maybe he's very sick" she suggested, pacing in a wide circle around the hyena's body as if sights alone could lead her to whatever was ailing him.... if anything was wrong with him to begin with that is.

The hyena still remained silent, but faked a yawn, keeping his fur from bristling in annoyance at how they didn't seem to recognize a hyena, and not seem one bit suprized at it accept curious. He shifted, as if drowly like a normal sleeping movement, before finding that they probably woulden't come any closer, and with a short huff, he got to his paws.
"I am a hyena, " He confirmed, eyes oppening to look at the pink cheetah, who he supposed was a lion. "Even though you are clearly guessing. " He growled, tail swishing behind him, showing his teeth.
Perhaps it would be wiser to deal with the big one, but then again, if the big one ran, he'd catch the little one, and the big one might return, and then he'd have a better chance.
His ears swished back and forth, as if undecided whether they should be prepared to listen or to get cover and not be injured. Slowly, he began to show his pearly white teeth, drawing his lips back, gums beginning to show only to make his teeth look even larger than they actually were.
He snarled, regretting he didn't have any help with him, but one seemed scrawny, he could handle her, finish hurting her enough for her to be terrified fast, and still be in time to face the larger one, who posed a larger threat. Though, their paws must be claimed first, their weapons, and what they needed to run, he knew well enough not to blindly rush in and bite just anything.

"Maybe," Kari agreed with Kia, personally thinking that he might just be asleep but not willing to correct the lioness. Afterall, for all she knew the hyena was sick. He didn't really react to them coming up, if he was just asleep he might have! Unless she was right about them being stupid. She watched the hyena carefully and jumped back when his eyes suddenly opened and he spoke to her.
"I- I-" she stammered, obviously he was right but she didn't want to admit it infront of Kia, but would it make him feel bad to be told she wasn't guessing? Fortunately, before she could decide on anything to say, he showed his teeth. Instead of reacting she only turned and looked at Kia to see what the lioness did.

Kia's fur bristled, the voice of the hyena sending jitters down her spine and a queasy feeling in her stomach. Her gaze rested momentarily on Kari, but only seeing a smaller pair of eyes peering back at her she turned back to the hyena, feeling very much alone in the situation.
Taking a nervous step backwards she offered the hyena a cheesy grin "Well it's very nice to meet you Mr hyena.." she stammered after a long pause and an audible gulp "I am a lion" she nodded curtly, figuring that since he introduced his species then she should be polite and introduce hers
Never-the-less, the sight of her worst fear before her--even with her previous burst of confidence--made her feel very vunerable and with each passing moment she found herself slowly creating more and more distance between herself and the hyena before her.

The hyena's snarl dosen't fade, he takes a few quick paces foreward and snaps his jaws in the direction of the lioness' leg, as if expecting her to lift a paw and whack him in the head any second. Now he was closer to Kari, and if she didn't run, he could pounce her rather easly.
His ears p***k foreward at the two, waiting for any reaction before slipping back against his skull again, making him look even more ferocious. Yet, he let his lips fall over most of his teeth again, grinning with amusement.
"Now is when you run. "
He said calmly, but witout waiting for a reply, or a reaction, he leaps towards the cheetah, teeth bared, aiming to bite its closest leg.

Kari's eyes widened when she spotted Kia's fur bristling, feeling her stomach twist anxiously. She hadn't expected such a reaction out of the lioness, and didn't know what to do now. She stumbled back a step and looked back at the hyena as well.
"And I'm a cheetah!" she announced, her usual high voice a tad higher. When Kia introduced herself as a lion, she was just trying to mimic her. She yelped when Kia was snapped at, jumping to the side even though it wasn't aimed at her. She was fixed on the spot when Tibuka advised that she run, glancing at Kia for any indication of what to do at the wrong time and looking back at the hyena just in time to see him lunging for her.
"Ah!" Kari jumped, just too late to escape his teeth. The result was an odd jerk, pulling the small cheetah off her feet, one still suspended only by the hyena's mouth. Panicking, she tried to get back to her feet while pulling free at the same time.
(( Floof, we need to know if it's ok for Kia to get hurt X33 ))

((yup it's fine x) ))
Kia stared anxiously as the hyena started for Kari, she could feel her stomach twisting into more complicated knots as the moments passed. The queasiness didn't halt, but only got worse and as she watched her new friend get snatched up by that vicious beast a worried look crossed her features
It seemed now that Kia only had two choices. The first would be to run far away and leave her friend for dead...or worse. The second, no matter how much she hated the idea of it, was much more noble and she knew instantly that it must be done.
Trying her best to wipe off any traces of fear from her features Kia glared straight into the eyes of the hyena, and though there was no apprehension on her features a trained eye could easily spot the glazed look of fear in hear eyes. This is the last place she ever wanted to be.
"You let go of her!" Kia commanded, her fur standing on end and a deep growl rumbling in the back of her throat. Her brows knitted in the most dangerous looking fashion that the young lioness could muster as she slowly walked again towards the hyena, her claws gripping into the soil as she stepped.

The muddy hyena shook his head vigorously when he had something in his jaws, this clearly to do even more damage to the paw, tightening his grip and pulling back slightly, more like a reflex than a will.
Even though his ears were against his fur, he could make out the sound of the lioness telling him to let go, and he grinned and how his idea worked, she woulden't leave with out the pink thing, that claimed to be a cheetah. Ah well, it was with a lion, just as bad.
Only, instead of letting go of the pink cheetah, he tightened his grip even more, dragging around Chuakari so that now, with the paw still in grip, the pink cheetah was between him and Kia.
He'd probably had given a clever reply, had his maw not been full of paw. He seemed to look upset that he'd need to let go of his little 'hostage', before comforting himself with the idea that with her paw like this, she probably woulden't get too far.
Shaking his head to deal more damage again, he let go, seeming to try and throw the cheetah in the attempt. That failed, though, throwing something away when you only held the paw never seemed a good idea.
Before he looked at the larger loness, he licked his maw first, bringing in the blood with a grin, cleaning his teeth. He moved to the side, as if to close an escape route the lioness might try and turn to now that the pink cheetah was free, even though blankly aware she probably woulden't run when he friend coulden't.
He drew in air, pondering for moments. These weren't the kind that invaded the graveyard, so there was no need to hurt them much, more like now, it was because he would look stupid if he simply backed out, and he knew Mafa would be pleased to hear he got at more lions.
He didn't look over to Chuakari again, even though one ear slipped out of cover every now and then in the cheetah's direction. Snarling, he stepped foraward, body lower to protect his belly and throat, Kia being taller than him, he had to look up. He took one more step foreward, weight on his hind paws ready to jump back if the lioness moved foreward, but not before snapping in her direction again, more of a warning not to get close.
His snarl faded into a triumphant grin as he realised fearin the lioness eyes, and took a more confident few steps toward her, moving slightly to the side as if to find a better point to attack, and so the cheetah would be in sight as well.

Chuakari failed in her attempts to escape, really requiring little effort to keep her on the spot. Her body swayed painfully as he shook his head and tightened his grip and she whined as she felt the skin on her paw tear. Instinct kept her trying to pull it away, only making the shaking worse. Her eyes flew to Kia when she commanded her release, hoping that the hyena would listen but only getting a sharper bite, an uncomfortable new position between the two larger creatures and another shake.
"Kia!" she yelped, not wanting her friend to have to put herself in danger. Kari is well aware she wasn't even close in her lies about hyenas and that she'd gotten them into this mess. She wasn't given much time to think as she was 'tossed' aside, the failed tossed flopping her over to the side. Her injured paw immediately drawn into her body, she stared with wide eyes as he threatened Kia.
With a terrified look on her face, Kari attempted to inch backwards without actually standing up. She just wanted to get away, but between her paw and Kia she was not going anywhere.

Kia bit her bottom lip nervously as the hyena shook her friend about mercilessly, her claws instinctively digging deeper into the ground each time that she saw the male before her shift his jaws for an even more clenching grip. She felt her own body flinch in a sort of sympathetic agony as Chuakari was tossed aside, but didn't allow her gaze to leave the hyena. Not even for one second. As far as Kia could tell, all that the hyena had injured on Kari was her paw, so she would be alright as long as the hyena stayed away from her. Any worried glances toward her friend may provoke the hyena to continue to harm her friend further and in turn injure Kia's spirits.
So she stood stalk still, her claws continuing to anchor her to the ground as her watery green eyes continued to stare down the hyena. She bared her teeth, the deep growl remaining constant, quiet. The hyena stepped closer, Kia's heart raced faster than her feet had ever run before, but she dared not try to run away, she dared not step forward to challenge him. So there she was in limbo, turning her body always to face him in case he leaped for her. Kia was sure to be ready to fend off any attacks at her neck, she knew this was an important thing to remember when defending oneself, but that was nearly the length of her knowledge. She had never fought with anything larger than a squirrel in past days and this thought alone made her fear for her future.
Kia snarled, her vision still locked in the light brown eyes of her nightmare as she spoke to Kari through her clenched teeth "Run Kari...." Kia's own body acted as a block between the hyena and her friend "Get away from here as fast as you possibly can"

Cyan eyes met Kia's, a great contrast against the dark muddy fur of the hyena. He locked her in view, without flinching as she showed her teeth or growled instead, his tail twiched with amusement.
His gaze flicked for a second to the aw he'd damaged, his snarl curling to a half grin in approval to his work, it'd be a while before the cheetah could walk normally again. He could say he'd done enough to hurt the cheetah for now, and now the lion was left to deal damage too, and perhaps he could toy with the cheetah again if he desired to.
He backed away a few steps, and for a second, it might look like he was giving up the fight, untill he darted foreward; he had been gaining space to gain speed.
Only, instead of lauching at the lion like would be normally expected, instead he squid to a quick halt a few inches infront of the lioness, more as if to get her out of guard than anything, and if she backed away now, she might end up stepping on the cheetah.

Kari watched with her purple eyes wide and fearful as Kia put herself between her and the hyena. It was while they had a staring contest that the cheetah made her first attempt at standing up, biting as hard as she could to ignore the pain. Her injured paw wouldn't hold any weight when she tried to stand, though adrenaline could do amazing things if she did try to make a break for it.
She didn't move when Kia told her to leave, caught between wanting to help Kia and wanting to listen to her. Would the lioness be mad if she didn't go? But would she be mad for not helping? Her fearful gaze shifted from Kia to Tibuka as he started to back away, daring to hope that he would back down and then she wouldn't have to make a choice. As soon as the hyena lunged forward, she yelped and stumbled back even though the 'attack' was aimed for Kia. With her eyes squeezed shut she limped back farther.

A slight smirk cast over the female's muzzle as the hyena seemed to back away, the thoughts that perhaps hyenas weren't so bad after all had nearly no time to cross Kia's mind before the male changed directions and headed towards her. Kia's every thread of instinct told her to turn on her heels and run. If she was alone perhaps she would have, but since Kari seemed to be younger than Kia, Kia felt the need to try to protect her... against her greatest fear. It was not proving to be easy.
Kia's green eyes flashed with shock as a blur of brown started towards her own body. She couldn't leave Kari now though, it would haunt her for eons if she did. Instead she fought against herself, clutching the ground and squinting her eyes shut, her fur bristling in waves as she hunkered to the ground defensively. She flinched as her swiveling auds caught the sound of his thundering footsteps coming closer and closer until the sound stopped. Kia dared not open her eyes for fear of seeing him there... staring.... waiting. Instead she stood there hunkered down and shivering in silent fear and anticipation of whatever was to happen next. She couldn't stand the games this hyena was playing with her fragile mind. It was only a matter of time until she broke and the fear in her feet took over the courage in her heart. She dreaded that moment almost more so than the hyena itself.

The hyena grins, walking foreward calmly as if this were a game, but his eyes kept a close look on the lioness, huddling, looking so much like a tiny little cub away from its mother. He seemed to contemplate stalking past towards the cheetah, a hint of realisation as he noticed the lioness seemed to only remain becase of the pink cats presence, and if it got away, the lioness would be too. But thne the thought crossed that she woulden't be able to get away quickly if she was hurt, either.
Then he simply jumped at the lioness back, now much more to hislevel sense she was again the ground, growling and aiming his jaws at one of her shoulders, paws ready to scratch against her side. Hyena claws were dull, yet they could be painfull enough if you hit the same place repeatedly.

Kari's eyes cracked open enough to watch what was going on, her limping steps halted for the time being. She was several feet back now, but it was easy enough to see the hyena pounce at Kia. She flinched and almost made to step forward, only to put unexpected weight on her injured paw, which caused her to draw back once more. With a whine she continued to wish there was some way to just get the hyena to stop, or to go back and rethink this hunt for hyenas.
(( XD Not much she can do right now, haha. Sorry for the short post. ))
