Whispering Lyrics

PostPosted: Sat Sep 18, 2004 9:43 am

I grew up in Kentucky, and there I was physically assualted more than once over my sexuality. My father, who is gay, still lives there, constantly has problems with things like vandalism on his property and threats to his life.

Right now I live in upper Michigan, and it's somewhat better here. Not perfect by a long shot, but better. There are a few people here that I would not directly tell I am bisexual just to keep from starting a fight, but neither do I put a lot of effort into hiding it. I am sometimes involved in local gay community events, and there are quite a few people who know I am bisexual here.

In my home here in Maryland, lesbians, like myself, are treated as if they were ailens. I would like to know if it is the same everywhere. Please include your sexuality, and where you live. I love nice long answers if possable 3nodding . They make me smile! Have fun and I will try to answer everyone if I can.

I live in Arizona and all people I know, older people, seem to dislike gays here and call them, "sickening." xp BTW, I am lesbian. But at my school, it all depends on how popular you are whether or not they'll be mean to you or not. All the gays I know are treated badly except for this one lesbian couple. Everyone loves them cuz they're really popular. O.o It really is odd.

Hi

I live in Finland. If I would tell my friends that I was Bi, they wound't propably talk me never again. The same are my parents. I have dated once this really nice girl but we had to end it baucause we just didn't have the courage to tell our parents... This does really suck, I mean really...

I live in New York and I dont think people have a problem with me being lesbian. I wear my gay flag on my bookbag everyday and I never get any stares on the street. Even people at school dont say or do anything. There's a lot of bi girls at school and one girl even wants me to draw a picture of two girls kissing for her. ^^; I dont think I'll run into anyone I'd want to date, but for now, I feel safe being out. Even my mother knows I'm gay and she's alright with it. Though she probably prefers me to be straight. =o

sweatdrop Well now that sounds a bit more liek harassment, and you should propably tell him you'll go to the principal about it if he doesn't stop and than if he continues you should propably actually go to the principal
I agree with Tier. If it were me I'd ask him why he keeps bothering me, and then as Tier said, tell him if he doesn't stop you'll go to the principal.

I did, he said he was "madly in love with you". He might just be a little on the slow side... But I like that idea... If it doesn't work, I'll go with RevanStar's idea, Kick his a**! *ebil grin*

lecanis: eek wow... Your the first to actually be assalted. Didn't anyone try to help?

RevanStar: I like that idea. That's probably his intentons. Before I knew I kinda liked him but he never lked me till now...

Dizzy82: I feel for you... heart Spread the love! heart

Taiki: Popularity can help but here, once people find out about you... your popularity goes right down the drain...

~Miyoku~: Finland, cool! But that must have sucked... Parents can be a pain sometimes... sad

Shurinka: Yah! Gay power! biggrin Spread the love. I say charge to draw pictures. Make a fast buck wink . It's good to have self pride especually whenyou can tell other people.

Well in South Louisiana gays/lesbians are treated like garbage. I get spit on occasionally. Lesbians are more tolerated than gay men because the guys down here are jerks and think lesbians are hot. Typical stuff I suppose. Parents/teachers are always trying to intervene and turn the gays/lesbians straight. Bisexuals are the most tolerated because the parents/teachers/community think that they can be set straight. That they can influence them to be straight.

When I was dating a girl from my school guys used to make bets on whether we would kiss every lunch period it really was degrading. People have been suspended for hugging or giving someone a peck on the lips. It's rather ridiculous. A couple of straight girls got suspended for it once.

:gasps: Im in Maryland too....Im not treated like everyone else, but I have only told few people and Im sure my parents would just b***h at me more if I told them I was bisexual..my friends only know and they wouldnt talk to me for a long long long time but then they got over it I guess....some people got grossed out and just told me I was sick, and others just looked at me funny and then started to walk away as if there was something the matter with me that nobody could know or fix. And other learned from letters and forgot it, I dont think I want to tell everyone.... some were okay with it too...

GLBTQ teens are treated fairly well here, and in fact only about an hour away from here we have a 'Drop-in safe zone' for teens like us every Tuesday and Sunday. I haven't the courage to go sweatdrop but I know it's there. There is also a Voices of Diversity committee in the school, so GLBTQ are recognized. I have also not heard any slander against gays/lesbians so far. whee

um, i live in florida and i'm not sure about everywhere but my particular school has great tolerence for gays/bis/lesbians. there are plenty of them and they let it show! but maybe one reason why might be because it's an art school.... and, yanno, artists are weird, lol xp

oh, and by the way, pyroharuko... um, where did u get that girl dancing? i've seen her around and i love her, but i can't find where to get her! she's so pretty.... i just wish i could get her on my desktop, heehee

thanks 3nodding

bis, gays, and lesbians are all frowned upon here.... i think it is stupid to judge people by their sexuality, race or gender... its the inner person that counts

If only the rest of the world agreed with that viewpoint (which I believe most of us share).
