Opting to remain silent, Flame followed the brightly hued mare towards the water source at a more sedate pace.
Sedate, at least, until he heard a thunderous crack and a yelp of pain.
Without thinking he sprang forward, hurtling past the mare towards the sound.

Shocked into unconciousness, the last thing the young hunter saw was a mound of black hair stretching up towards two gently pricked red ears. Blinking once in a futile attempt to stay the cloudy darkness, Pathen mumbled something unintelligible before falling into that deep void of nothinngess.
(( IC Blais ))
Traveling swiftly on silent hooves, a giant brute of a colt surged through the undergrowth not far from the fallen hunter. Though he was new-come to this area, the colt had learned the pathways towards the various water sources, and where he would most likely come upon a herd. And it was a herd that he sought, based on the assumption that his quarry had completely moved on from his previous life and had started anew in these parts. Forgetting all that had come before...
Snarling savagely, Blais half reared midstride, his brilliantly colored coat flashing menacingly through the trees, but it was his eyes that were the most unsettling...
They were a rich amber, and glowed with the fierce intensity of a killer on the prowl.
They were his fathers eyes, though he had yet to see his father.
But if he did see him, these eyes would be the last the stallion of fire would see. The painted colt his herd had named Blais would make sure of that.
Yesssss, vengence is as vengence does, and I am but the arrow of justice sped from the bow of my family. My true family. And before he dies, that miserable creature will see the error of his ways.

Shocked by the sound of ripping and breaking followed by a yelp of surprise and fear, she leapt to her feet in time to see a human form collide with Eloran's back. With her own cry of shock she darted over, just in time to catch him as he slid off of Eloran's back in an unconcious slump. Highly concerned, she eased the boy to the ground gently. When he didn't immediately open his eyes, she began checking him all over for injuries. She felt swiftly along his arms and legs but found no obvious indications of a broken bone, nor did she find any truly srious gashes, though a few scratches and cuts met her brief inspection.
Much more carefully she explored his skull beneath that mop of dark hair. When again her fingertips found no evidence of major trauma, she sat back with a relieved sigh. Well... now what? She glanced up at Eloran, who had pivoted to peer down at them and watch her minstrations. "I guess we just wait for him to wake up," she told him conversationally before looking back down at the boy.
