Magical Mrs. Mistoffelees
I haven't been playing all that long. Only three years. I play jaz music, but my real love is the guiter. On both the guitar and the bas I would like to find some old sheet music. Like 1920's- 1960 music. Like Fred Astair, Frank SInatra, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Judy Garland, Danny Kaye, Ella FitzGerald...

I've been playing about that long too smile

I play in the jazz band and jazz combo at school, as well as the concert band in which a lot of classical and contemporary stuff gets played. I have a book ("The REAL Book - Bass Clef") that has a lot of lead sheets for a whole ton of jazz songs. Basically in jazz combo I play walking basslines based on the chords written on the lead sheet. It's tough sometimes, but I'm getting pretty good at it. I also play a lot of heavy metal.

I'm a female bass player. ^^

Some males who play bass don't think my Bass is "Suitable for a woman to handle" Which really annoies me, but I think they just say it to annoy me.

I have a B.C Rich Platmun series beast.

I have played upright bass in school 5 years and I love it...I have recently begun schooling in a preforming arts school and it is awsome!

As soon as people hear the way I play they beg me to play electric bass in their band. So over the next few months I plan to learn electric bass in one of my friends bands!

Ill update you gals later so you can see If I made my goal!

There is this band entitled "Slunt", and here is their bassgirl ( same thing as bassman xp )

Are you aware of fact that number of female guitar players compared with number of female bass players like 1 to 10 ? Same thingie with female drummers (1 guitarist per 7 drummers, let's say) Of course, I'm not talking about girls that play chords-like campfire s**t, what I ment was real a**-kickin' guitar performence with fast and deep solos and good technique.

Shame, girls always make great band buddies... unless someone in the band fall in love with them, that usually means BIG trouble, beacouse their inside-relationship problems will suddenly become bands problems too... Been through this so far and feel expirienced somehow razz What I want to say is that, girls in the band have both pros and cons:

Pros:
- great, cheerful band buddies
- usually tend to be perfectionists in their sections
- an "other sex" point of view in discussions about band and music
- if pretty, they mean big stage succes wink

Cons:
- highly depresive sometimes, you know...
- they mean love/sex/attraction problems in band if the band members cannot separate feelings from working on music

Hope you won't eat me alive girls but I must say that, starting a band with a female bandmember is a think-twice decision that might lead to a great balanced atmosphere in the band, and great performences as well as to many problems and band breakouts.

Cheers.

Hey! I play both electric and stand up, but I like stand up better. No band, yet. I mostly play Jazz on electric and classical/orchestra music for school on stand up.

I thought these were great, cool as hell to see a chick that could knock my d**k in the dirt. Layin' the funk on heavy, and she's not bad lookin' either.

I play electric bass, for about a year now. I love it, girls make cool Bass players.
I would have to say my main influence would be D'Arcy from Smashing Pumpkins, not in a bass playing way, more as a person.

She cool cool
