Saa smiled at his reaction to her pup. It gave her a moment to swiftly collect Kibu. She was happy that the pup wriggled and batted at her. Kibu was getting stronger by the day and Saa was happy that the runt was getting much larger. It seemed that things were looking up for the little pup in her jaws. She set her pup down beside her sister and watched them huddle together for warmth. Her small, broken family seemed to be getting closer even with their father gone.
Usu's suggestion took her off guard. She looked down at the pups that were nestled beside them.
"I'm not sure. What if Zingy came back and smelled you here after we were gone..." She didn't think that she would actually care but she didn't want Usu hurt. "He may try to...hurt you to get us back if what you say about him is true."

Usu paused, would Zing jump to such conclusions of Usu actually mating with Saa or taking his pups from her? When he thought about, switching himself with Zing and vice versia, he too would draw the same conclusions. "I guess you are right, Saa. I wouldn't want Zing chasing after us." he said with a smile. Usu looked down at the two sisters. Kibu was awake sort of and was sort of active. Potevu was nestled close to her sister and himself. He drapped his tail over the two for warmth. "And I don't want any trouble caused for these two either."
But what was he going to do? Stay here with Saa until Zing reliezes his mistake and comes back? What is the Acacia Tree doing without him there to talk to? Thoughts and question was running through his head.

Saa slipped gracefully to her stomach and nipped at Usu's tail. Why did she care so much about Zingy when she had a perfectly capable male with her. Usu had been there long enough that her pups had gotten so used to his scent. Beluwa was nearly forgotten in her mind. What ever Zingy had done with her son, it certainly meant that he wasn't coming home. All she cared about at that moment were her two daughters.
"Usu...do you plan on leaving us soon?"
She didn't mean to spring such a question on the young male but it was worse for her to not know when he would set out for good.

"Can't say, Saa." he replied honestly. He didn't know when he was going to leave. He did want to meet this one maned wolf again, but she is always running so who knows when she will return. "But not for a long time, I assure you." he said with a smile.
"And I did promise that I wouldn't break Potevu's heart either, and I make the same promise to you and Kibu." Usu promised, licking her softly. He would love to stay but being contained wasn't something he was used to. He was always free to wander about knowing that he could do what he wish. But here he had three females to look after, and something told him he had to.

Saa sighed heavily and placed her muzzle against her pups. She realized that there would be a time when she would have to raise her two daughters by herself and the thought scared her. She had never raised anything before. She, herself, had always been raised. As the daughter of a priest, Saa was given whatever she wished until her brother destroyed everything. It had been the day that she had been forced to grow up. If their union had created pups then what would she have done. Saa hadn't had much time to be a pup and even her instincts could tell her everything.
"Usu, you are god touched. You have the ability to do whatever you wish." Her voice broke as she lifted her muzzle from her pups.
"I however am doomed to serve the gods. I don't have the freedom of free will like you. My life revolves around what they wish me to do and I must follow whatever their guidance shows me. I know that you can leave at any time and go back to your home and your tree but..." Her muzzle fell against her paws as she looked pleadingly up to him.
"I can't do this by myself or without you. It would hurt too much." After all this built inside had settled she continued. "My pups need a father and you're the only thing I have now...."

Usu frowned, "You must follow whatever their guidance shows you?" he asked, "What if I am that guidance? The one born to help others and guide you as their follower?" he questioned.
"But, like I said, I won't leave you, not for a very long time. And by then we would have taught these two to hunt already. And I am always around." he said smiling. "If you don't want me to leave, Saa. Just ask..." he trailed off afraid that she would....

Saa's eyes brightened as he spoke. "You? My guidance?" She hadn't thought of that before. His outward appearance had thrown her off but maybe he was her guidance. It was hard for her to think straight for a moment. Everything was moving too fast for the old wolf.
"It could be...I've never had a clear picture of you before now."
His answer made her tremble lightly. She could never force Usu to be with her no matter how much she needed him. The female plastered her muzzle shut to keep her thoughts right. When she was able to speak, Saa's response even took her by suprise.
"No Usu...that's too much to ask of you. Leave when you will."

Usu smiled, "Then I will leave when I am willing." he licked her with a soft murr from his body. "Trust me, I won't guide you wrong, Saa." he said, "The path my be strange, but it's destinate is that of good fortune."
Usu laid next to Saa, the pups nicely tucked between the two. "Saa I wish I could stay with you but it would not be proper for such as someone as yourself. You still have Zingy, he will come back. I can't take his place and if we did love each other than it would be a false one." he said, "But I still love you nevertheless as a friend." he added licking her and nuzzled her softly.

Saa wanted to return his affections but decided not to. The relationship they had was much too fragile for temptations. She nuzzled close to Usu and her pups.
"That is all I wished to hear Usu. Just knowing that you'll be here when we wake is enough."
A soft sigh accomanied the wolf as she closed her eyes and feel deeply into slumber.
