Ophelia followed behind her sister, her eyes coldly reflecting upon the retreating landscape as they moved. They would not go to that den again. The one not far from the river, where they had taken Echo after Kalia had wounded her. She could not say there were fond memories there. But it was what she knew, and what she had tried to secure down for them. What would this new place bring? And if it didn’t work out- where would they go?
Logan was talking to both of them, but she took it to be more of a private conversation. Phib. What the hell kind of name was that? It sounded foreign and short on her tongue, and she could only imagine the kind of wolf who was behind it. Would he be like their father? Old, and somewhat crotchety hiding behind a bad temper? And what about the alpha female? She expected the most problems out of that one. Females tended to treat other females a bit harsher then males did. Kalia certainly had.
But, most of her bitterness was a defense against being fooled. She was honestly pleased when Echo recognized one of the names Logan had spoken. An old friend of hers? “That’s good to hear.” She spoke to Echo, her eyes watching the strange change in the foliage. It was getting more sparse, and there was a faint noise in the distance. “I’m glad you’ll know someone.”
Elsewhere, a particularly crotchety and moderately angry fellow trotted along the beach some ways away, hoping to stretch his bad leg. It shouldn’t have been bothering him quite like it was- but, with that said, it wasn’t exactly painful. But it was stiff. And he was a wolf used to being ready at any time to get himself into some sort of scuffle. There was no problem now, but there was a weakness in that leg he felt could give rise to a bad injury if he was not careful with how he landed on it. Phib liked to be prepared for such things. For now, it was just stiff, and Amélie would have noted that he seemed to spend more time willing an ailment upon himself rather then accepting the fact it was just stiff, and not falling off. It still bothered him that anything was wrong with it at all. Faintly in the distance, he faintly noted the shadows of a trio of wolves coming on from the west shore. With a blink he rose his head and perked his ears, the center of his brow furrowing somewhat.

Logan continued along, quite happy with himself. But he knew that it would be getting late in the day, possibly too dark to find an area to help Echo and Ophelia make a den...where would Malik be at this hour? Perhaps Malik could take Cael and Rage on a practice hunt in the night, and Echo and Ophelia could rest there for the night...that den was quite large afterall.
In the distance Logan could see the vague appearance of a rather large shadow, even for the distance it was away. It had ot be Phib. He was usually the only one on the beach at this time, unless Amelie accompanied him. However today Phib seemed to be on his walk alone.
Logan's tail swayed as he continued forward, Echo and Ophelia seeming a bit happy knowing that Echo knew someone in the pack. Malik had gotten bigger, Echo coming here would be a nice surprise for him as well.
As they approached Phib more closely Logan made sure that Echo and Ophelia were close behind before they got closer. As they were a few feet away from the alpha now Logan stopped with a smile on his face and did a slight bow, just like he was accustomed to do more often then not, "Evening Phib," he said, hoping to break the stailness in the air.
"I'd like you to meet Echo," Logan said gesturing to Echo with his paw, "And her sister Ophelia," he said again, gesturing to Opphelia the same way he did with Echo.
Hopefully Phib would be in a good mood today, that would certainly help ease the feeling of the twins more likely then not. Perhaps even Phib would get the idea that Logan had brought them to his territory to stay, and that Logan would help them get settled in and such.

Echo was quite cheerful for most of the walk. Sure, she was a bit nervous about the move, going into a pack. The reason she and her sister were out on their own was because of a pack. She thought that they could adjust, but she wasn't sure how long it would take for them, especially Ophelia. The older twin seemed a bit less trusting.
Yet when the large figure of Phib began to appear on the shoreline and still Logan didn't slow, she became very edgy. When they approached him, she couldn't help but tuck her tail, fold back her ears, and cower. Phib was the largest wolf she had ever seen, and it didn't help that he was littered a little with scars. Her own burned just looking at them and she whined.
Sinking to her belly, and still whining, Echo turned her attention to the large scar on her right paw. It hurt the most, and she licked it to try and bring it down, though her nervousness only seemed to fuel the pain.
"Sister... his scars..."
How had he gotten them? Had his parents done that to him too, like her?

Phib shifted his weight, considering the approaching parties carefully. From distance alone he could pick Logan out of the trio, his flaming coat bright against the green foliage. The other two seemed so identical he almost thought his eyes were addled. But no- after a few steps, he concluded that there were two other females, both approaching with some hesitation behind Logan. Briefly, Phib wondered exactly who had perpetuated the ‘big bad wolf’ slant to his name. ‘Probably myself.’ He noted with a slight squint of his right eye, before swallowing down any vexed tone to his voice and trotted forward. Apparently his pack hosted quite the male studs. Compared to Rio, Cellen and Flit- it looked like Logan made the score with twins. “Good evening Logan.” Phib spoke as he approached, the end of his tail kept at back height, and slowly pulsing behind him. It wasn’t quite a wag- but it was a friendly gesture. Logan didn’t waste anytime for introductions, and the old king regarded them both considerately. “So I see.” He ambled. “Two lovely ladies.” He had no idea exactly what the introduction posed for, but he had a hunch.
Ophelia approached from behind the pair, until they got closer to a black blob on the beach. It was then that Echo suddenly fell back, falling into shivers as the black male came closer. And Ophelia had to admit- she quickly felt herself getting edgy as well. This had to be the alpha, or in any case, a beta. He was older then she had expected, but only because she had been anticipating someone young. He was about the same age as their father, which almost immediately had her tail fur prickling. The introductions seemed smooth enough, but she couldn’t help thinking the male was somewhat smug about it. Although she’d be damned if she knew why.
Phib peered over the two ladies and Logan, making careful judgements in the back of his mind. The smaller one seemed sheepish and was rather pitifully covered with scars. It brought a slight frown to his face as he ambled his posture, before regarding the other female. She was a bit taller then the other, and was looking rather sour. A good strong looking lady in any case- although he noted a bruise on her nose and knee. The other was eyeing him as if she was about to have a heart attack, and politely, he docked his ears. “No need for such trembling.” He spoke towards the cowering one. Her eyes seemed focused to his face– the scars? Ah- what a loathsome brute he’d become! It was enough to pull a smile across his face. If only people knew where they’d really come from. The things he put up with for his love of women- “Ophelia and Echo; Twins?” He questioned when no other word was offered.
Ophelia snorted imperiously, and glanced away. “We are.”
To Echo, she quickly noted- "Don't worry about them." Echo was licking her bad scar now, and she shivered against the motion. What would happen if they were attacked?
Phib craned his neck to the side now that Ophelia was blocking his view, and noted the female licking her scar. Somewhat haphazardly, he stepped across the side of Ophelia (something which instantly had her bristle and take a few surprised steps backwards), and towards Echo. Her head was still down, and he drooped his own to hang somewhat adjacent to her frantic motions.
"Not good to lick so hard." He spoke reflectivly. "If it still hurts, then it hasn't healed yet."

Logan watched as Echo seemed to be intimidated by Phib, and went to go lick one of her unhealed wounds. But Phib seemed in a good mood today, which was good. Perhaps he would be...different? At ease around the two? Especially Echo...Logan wanted Echo to feel comfortable.
Phib seemed to enjoy their company at the moment, posing himself in a manner as to...be more friendly looking perhaps? Either way, when Phib stepped closer to Echo and by Ophelia, it lessened the ease Logan was hoping for.
His tail still wagged though.
"Phib," he began, hoping he wouldn't sound stupid, "I had met Echo a little while ago...then was introduced to her sister...they were living alone, a bit south from here...would it be alright if they stayed?" Logan prayed. Logan hadn't asked Phib before well...to be honest, he was scared.
Logan hoped Phib would say yes, "I can even help them find a den site, show them around...I've learned a lot since my time here already...and Echo, she knows Malik." He said with a smile, hopefully the knowing of Malik having a friend coming, might push Phib in the "yes they can stay" catagory.
Logan hoped Phib understood why he brought them here...for one, Logan was falling in love with Echo, though Logan didn't know this positively yet, and two, LOgan wanted both of them to be safe.

Phib continued to intimidate the little female even after the friendly quiver in his tail and the way he had told her not to tremble so much. She simply couldn't help it. To her, large wolves were dangerous wolves until they proved themselves otherwise. And sure, he hadn't done anything threatening so far, but that didn't mean it'd stay that way.
"T-twins," she muttered, nodding in agreement with her sister. It was obvious that they were twins, though they were perhaps only in the way they looked. At the moment, they seemed to be two totally different females.
When Phib came closer to her, she stopped mid-lick to glance up at him uncertainly. "Not good?" she repeated, glancing down at her largest scar. "Not good," she said again, pulling her tongue back into the confinement of her jaws.
"Hasn't healed yet?" she asked, glancing at Phib then back down to her scars. They seemed fine to her, it was just this burning! Sighing, she glanced at Logan as he began to talk again.
"Knows Malik!" she yipped, letting her tail wag once before it stopped dead again. She wanted to run, far away. This male, being so close to her and so large... it scared her. Reminded her too much of her father at this point, both in size a little and in age. Or at least she figured they were the same age about. Though, the omega seemed more calm on the outside than she really was.
In her head, she trembled wildly. "Sister... why does he have to be so close?"

“He doesn’t.” Ophelia said flatly, and stepped abrasively between Echo and Phib. To her surprise however, he didn’t move in response to her gesture like any normal creature. Awkwardly their noses bumped, and he snorted thickly. Agitatedly she pulled back and scoffed, pulling beside Echo.
“My sister doesn’t like you so close.” She muttered coarsely. Phib arched his brow and swayed the end of his tail, a somewhat smug smile curled across his face. Well, this was certainly the kind of woman that liked to put scars on his face. But, he didn’t take too much offense. Living alone were they? It was unfortunate that the two ladies had been subjected to that, but it seemed to be more common as the woods grew populated.
“They may stay. Situated them were they will, and tell me about it later. But I suggest you tell Cellen what you will be doing.” He spoke with a sway, and slowly turned away from Echo and the ridged female.
“So young to be so bitter.” he remarked as he started to walk away. “Take care then my dears. Should you feel like speaking to me later on, you can find me about. Or think hard enough about it, and I am sure Amélie shall be around.” He ambled, and strolled somewhat off. He sensed that they were a bit cautious- perhaps it would be best if they settled before speaking to him much further. The last thing he wanted was to scare the poor girl to death.

Logan watched as Echo and Ophelia reacted with Phib. Making notes of what might aggitate of nerve either one of them. Logan wanted to be careful. He would situate them well, find a good place they liked, he would have to find Cellen afterwards though, to tell Cellen what was happening and such.
But first thing was first...
After Phib had left Logan turned to Echo and Ophy, smiled and wagged his tail, "Would you two rather eat something first, or find a den site?"
He wondered where they would want to den. By the shore maybe? Or perhaps more secluded in the forest by the shore, but by a stream of something with fresh water. It all depended on them though. He wanted them to be comfortable and happy...and his mind all the while traveled back to Echo...what he felt towards her.
Maybe he should tell Echo sometime. Sometime soon? Maybe...

Echo trembled as her sister bumped into the large male. She was afraid that he would attack her. What then? She wouldn't be able to defend even herself, she knew, and she hoped that this wasn't a trap of some sort. But, she felt, Logan wasn't really the wolf to do that sort of thing. So when Phib walked away and out of sight, she let out a great sigh of relief, flopping over onto her side and letting her ears go back to standing on her skull.
"That wolf scares me, sister. You were brave standing up to him." Yes, brave. That wolf looked like he could have easily torn apart any of them, even Logan, and yet Ophelia had protected her sister with so much courage. Echo only wished she could have so much courage one day.
Then, when the curly-tailed male asked if they'd like to eat or find a den, she came to an immediate decision.
"Find a den site," she repeated quickly, rolling onto her paws to stand again. Turning to her sister, she smiled then licked her bruised nose. "Somewhere densely forested, yes? I think that'd be nice. It'd give us lots of cover."
Stepping back a foot or so, she glanced at the forest. Yes, a den site would be nice. The omega liked to have a home, no matter how make-shift. It was also nice to have some place to run to whenever things got bad or if one needed to hide. Following that train of thought, she wondered again where Logan would stay in regards to them. Close or farther away? She knew she'd den with her sister, but she was curious to find out where Logan would place himself.
"Ready to go, sister?" she asked, taking her mind off of all the nonsense going through her brain.

Ophelia nosed her sister’s face, and swayed the end of her tail nervously. “You are brave.” She echoed simply, and slid the corner of a yellow eye towards the retreating form of the alpha. Gruffly, she snorted and looked away. She didn’t understand why he had chosen to walk away when she had blatantly stood up to him. And yet when he hadn’t moved, she felt about the same as if he had slapped her across the face. She didn’t like that silence he used. She was used to yelling and shouting.
Echo was still nerve racked, and Ophelia tried her hardest to keep herself calm. Logan was speaking, and she tried to clear her thoughts to focus on them. Eat? She had almost forgotten the fish she had found. But while she was hungry, she agreed with Echo. “Best to find a place to go.” she spoke steadily, her eyes viewing the area considerately.

Logan wagged his tail and tilted his head in consideration of where would be best to bring them. Somewhere close to fresh water, that would have fish and adequate prey that lived there. Probably more forested too.
It hit him...
"I think I know a good place, follow me," he said with a smile as he turned and craned his neck around to make sure they would follow easily. He padded forward off from the beach into teh underbrush. Between the trees he weaved until he could hear rushing water not too far off.
Then he turned right...
His paws set foot on the small clearing that was surrounded by heavily densed underbrush and trees. Making sure they were behind him he stepped out into it and padded forward a few steps and looked up and down the rather large tree there.
It was quite old, roots springing up from all sides above the earth and entwining with other things, over rocks. It seemed like an abandoned den of a small fox had been made under the tree. Good reason for it being there, teh tree was strong, and could shelter all who stayed here quite well. Maybe they would like it here.
"I found this place by accident, this might be good, its close to a small river that has fish. And sometimes there are small rabbits, even a few stray deer that wander by here...unless you two would be more comfortable elsewhere." he finished, they would have final decision for sure.
And if they stayed here, he wouldn't be too far from them. His den...well...his area where he slept was several meters from here, but he could easily be found if they pointed there noses to teh wind to find his scent. It would be nice to stay close to them, especially Echo.

Echo whisked her tail before glancing back at her sister. She sure hoped that everything would work out in the end, and that her sister would eventually warm up to everything and not be so bitter. Though, perhaps her bitterness was a bit helpful. If her sister wasn't careful, then who would be? Though she had been nearly killed by her own mother, she seemed to trust more easily than most others, and she considered wolves her friends probably more readily than she should.
Putting all of that behind, though, she turned and quickly followed Logan, knowing that her sister would soon follow suit. When they eventually reached the place that Logan had thought would be nice for them, she stopped next to him and looked around.
From first glance, it seemed perfect. There was enough foliage cover to make her feel comfortable and safe. He had said there was a river nearby, so that would provide them with at least as much food as they were getting before, if not more when added to the rabbits and deer he mentioned. Even the small burrow seemed perfect enough, they would just need to work on it a little to make it fit them.
Smiling with delight, she glanced towards her sister and whisked her tail again. "What do you think, sister?"
The runt rather liked it, but she wanted to know what her sister thought about it. If it wasn't okay, then they could always go searching. She was sure Logan had to know the area at least a little and so could help them along. Either way, they'd find the perfect den eventually.

Ophelia followed the pair down the beach, her feet feeling heavy with each step. This strange place. Different then their home by so many stretches. The trees, the earth- it was all different. Too much was different. Would it ever settle? Or was this just another dead end they’d soon by walking backwards out of to the tune of sorrow? Ophelia lowered her head and took a slow inhalation of the salty air, so distracted by her thoughts that she missed Logan’s grand description of the home he was to bring them to.
Her head raised, and before them was a somewhat shambled den besides the river. Foliage covered the area and most of the den on the sides, giving it the look of being hidden. It was close enough to the river that she could see the water peeking through thick patches of trees, but not so close that it overwhelmed. It was quite a step up from the near shameful den they had both dug for themselves. It was wonderful looking- but did it come with a price? Silently, she hoped not.
“It is lovely.” She said tiredly, peering at it. Logan was right- it was a fine place.

Logan smiled, both of them seemed happy with it. Though the den...more like crawl space beneath the tree would have to be dug out more, to remove any rocks or leaves that gad fallen in since it was abandoned. Logan was going to make this spot his den, it was a perfect spot. But since they seemed to like it, he'd go back to the spot under the shade of the limbs he had rested under.
It was better that they had it anyway.
"I'm glad you both approve...its the best thing I can think of off hand..." he figured they'd probably want to start fixing it up right away, or get some food or something. Fish would be a better choice, three wolves around might have made the rabbits skittish.
"My d- I mean where I sleep and rest sometimes is about 10 or so meters that way," he said pointing with his nose. His curly tail swaying behind him, "Its far enough away for both of your provacies and such, but close enough if you two ever need a question andswered, or help finding something or someone.
"Malik might be by the river, he likes fishing more then anything else. He usually wanders this way too, but not quite close to this spot." he wondered if he should go, let them get used to their surroundings and such.
"If you need me for anything, I'm just a howl away, I might be on the beach later if thats any help. I'm glad both of you decided to come." He said finalyl before he turned and started to pad way slowly, as if giving them the chance to ask for anything before hwe went on his way. He'd surely be back later to make sure they settled in quite alright.
He was glad they came...glad Echo came...

Echo smiled at the male, her tail wagging slowly behind her. "It's the best thing," she repeated, smiling warmly at Logan. This was the best thing; the best thing that possibly had ever happened to them and also the best place where they could stay at the moment. Sure, she hadn't checked the surrounding area and stuff, but that didn't matter. Both her and her sister liked this spot.
Glancing at her sister, she blinked once. "Should we work on it a little or do you want to rest?"
When Logan began to speak again, her attention shifted from her sister to the male. Her ears docked to the side a little bit as she caught his words and cricked her tail curiously. "Glad decided to come," she said, nodding her head a little to show that she agreed with him. She was glad that they had come also. It was a nice change to their life. Hopefully, they'd settle in quickly and without problems.
"Sister," she murmured afterwards, glancing back towards Ophelia. "Tell him I might go to the beach later, also. I want to talk a little with him."
Just what she wanted to talk about, she wasn't exactly sure. But, she knew, she at least had to thank him in some way.
