Wild Cards "Uh... yes sir." Rayce started walking behind him, then climbed into the AT-AT. wondering what was going on. Still, he had a good feeling about this. The captain led him to the holding bay and took a seat. "How much do you know about transferable technology on Imperial technology?"

"Not very much. However, I've realized that the Imperial Army hasn't had any innovation in over a hundred years. Perhaps that's why the Republic is so far ahead. Why?"

"With what? This design? If so, I could try, sir."

Wild Cards "With what? This design? If so, I could try, sir." "No, you weren't paying attention. I want you to convert our existing TIE Maulers into mobile drill tanks that we can use to tunnel. Make your own design."

"Yes sir." Rayce took out the datapad and started sketching quickly. He designed a drilling tank with two turrets resting on the body of the Mauler, medium turrets able to take down some vehicles. The drills remained. He also fitted two smaller infantry turrets on the underside of the tank. The young man shrugged and handed over his design.

When we get down, I want you to start work immediately." The walker came to a stop about a third of a mile from the mountain.

Rayce climbed down a ladder from the AT-AT and headed over to one of the drilling vehicles. First he waved three privates over to him and had them aid him in lifting a pair of medium cannons and resting them on the narrow platform between the treads and the body of the Mauler. He welded the turrets in place by himself. Next he ran wires down through the platform and connected them to the control panel, which he added two switches to, one for each cannon. They would take a bit of time to reload, but they would be relatively effective.
Rayce then fitted a pair of anti-infantry turrets on the very bottom of the tank and welded them in with a few technicians. He then ran the same wires, but only added one switch this time, so the blaster turrets would fire in an alternating pattern. Rayce called over a stormtrooper to run the prototype. It worked perfectly. Rayce breathed a sigh of relief at the end of the three and a half hours. The process wasn't extremely difficult, and though there were a few things he would need to work out, it was still relatively effective. Rayce grinned to himself as he admired his work.

Elladan was impressed, once the eight renovated maulers were set to work hollowing out the mountain. At the rate they were going, several dozen times faster than the fusion cutters, they'd have it hollowed in a day.
Excellant work, Sargeant. I want you to get to work designing small loading and transport equiptment we can use to ferry the rocks.

Rayce looked up at the mountain, then started sketching. He envisioned a long body with a small TIE cockpit and a very long bed. The bed would be about thirty feet long, ten feet wide, and ten feet high. It would have ten short legs so that it could handle the rough terrain. The droids would be able to load the stone easily. Rayce grinned, then handed his drawing over after about half an hour.

Rayce sighed and headed to the small bunk room where he slept. He wondered why he was helping these Imperials when the Rebellion had fought so hard against them. And yet he wondered if it was just Palpatine they didn't want in power so many years ago. Perhaps now, a unified galaxy wouldn't be such a bad thing. Rayce drifted to sleep with that thought.

By morning, most of the mountain was hallowwed out to Kenet's designs. The digging equiptment was pulled out, and the crews weresend in to begin construction of the base itself, starting with main entrance and all the security doors and ventilation.
Elladan then called Rayce to his office when he was awake.

He walked over, showing him the latest report. Digging's all done, we're just working on getting the infrastucture up inside. Can you handle overseeing all the wiring that needs doing?
