V the Maniac Any one know a good Teenagered Romance novel... what A guy can like romance book? I would suggest "Looking for Alaska" by John Green, but just to warn you, it does take a darker twist at the end. It isn't about being in love as much as falling in love. Beyond that, I can't really help you. sweatdrop

I like reading Tamora Pierce, and am looking for some good read-alikes. (Yes, I've read all the Harry Potters.) Sometimes I listen to audiobooks around my kids, so please, no strong language.

Does anyone know of any books similar to the "Pendragon" series? I really like the fantasy/reality theme of it.

Saintdaniel Does anyone know of any books similar to the "Pendragon" series? I really like the fantasy/reality theme of it. I haven't read "Pendragon", but if you're looking for fantasy/reality try Garth Nix's "Keys to the Kingdom" series, Mercedes Lackey's "SERRAted Edge" series (and related titles), or a variety of books by Charles de Lint.

I would like to find a good page turning novel.
Please do not suggest Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter. For I refuse to read them. Thank you smile

:: Gasp! :: You refuse to read LoTR or Harry Potter?
I found The Master Puppeteer by Katerine Patterson to be a page turner.

Anyone know a good pirate themed novel? (like of there has been novelizations of the PotC movies) or some humourous slice-of-life/supernatuaral (yes, I know that's kind of a contradiction, I mean mabie something with mabie vampires or faries intervening on an otherwise normal existence)
just for kicks as well any one know of of a Mystory novel based in the Civil War? xd

Rogue Specter just for kicks as well any one know of of a Mystory novel based in the Civil War? xd Actually, yes: The Seneca Fall mystery series by Miriam Grace Monfredo takes place just before, and during, the Civil War. (I started reading it because the original protagonist was a librarian smile ) They aren't fluffy reads, being well-researched historial pieces, with an eye toward the situations of minorities (women, Native Americans, slaves).

I'm looking for a non-fiction, somewhat inspirational book for my friend, who is ill and sometimes bedridden. I had a book picked out for her birthday (You Can Do It: The Badge Book For Girls), but it has a few too many things in it that she can't physically do anymore, so it wouldn't make a very good gift.
Or, if I can't find something like that, I'd like to send her a really good, diverse poetry anthology.
Can anyone pass along a few suggested titles?

LeslieMarie Hey guys, I'm looking to get some more fantasy books, but not sure what ones I will like or not. Some series to compare to that I like are Robert Jordans Wheel of time series, and terry goodkinds sword of truth series.. Any suggestions? I recently read the first two books of the trilogy The Dreaming Dark by Keith Baker. They were both very good and I am eagerly waiting for the bookstore to get the third one. The premise of the books is a world that has gone through a catastrophic war that killed many and changed the lives of all involved. The author, Keith Baker, is the creator of the world of Eberron, a world setting for Dungeons and Dragons fanfiction, and there are many other books by different authors set in the same world. (I've never played D&D, so don't let that part scare you off) I would say that you could compare these books to The Wheel of Time (not sure about the other series as I haven't read it). The first two books are The City of Towers and The Shattered Land. The last one is The Gates of Night.
