He nodded, then looked up at Machus. "Do you want to go somewhere?" he asked slowly. "I don't want to be keeping you if you have somewhere else to be." He looked into Machus' eyes almost defiantly. "I'll be fine here on my own. You don't need to watch over me."

Looking back to Mer, an amused smile rested on the fox's lips. "There isn't anywhere in particular I'd like to go, no." Shifting and pouncing lightly off the chair, he moved to sit in a rectangle of light shining from an open window. Settling on the warm carpet, he yawned. "If there were somewhere I wanted to go, I would. I do believe you could take care of yourself. Would hope so."

Mer flushed. "I can," he said firmly. "I've done it for 8 years." Pushing out a little from the corner, he flopped down on his back, looking up at the ceiling. "Yes, I can certainly take care of myself."

Stretching to lay in the sunlight on his stomach, he rested one cheek against the carpet as he watched Mer. "Well then, that only tells me that my suspicions were correct."

He nodded, his eyes still on the ceiling. He turned his bright blue gaze on Machus and smiled slightly, a milder version of his usual sarcastic smirk. "What would you like to do then, Machus, my friend?" He felt a bit odd calling someone his friend, but he liked to think of Machus as being so.

Gaze moving to fix upon the fox with a light smile, his tail flicked as he stretched before sitting up. "I have nowhere I wish to go in particular. Is there anywhere that you would like to go?"

"Mmm.. I see..." Tail swaying side to side idly, he cocked his head slightly to the side. "Well, that does provide a dilemma, doesn't it?"

He rolled over onto his stomach, while retaining his gaze on the other. "Yes, it very well could be, couldn't it?"
