"Thank you," he said with a smile, placing the sandwich in his lap to take the drink from her. Opening the bottle, he gladly look a sip. Peaches weren't his favorite fruit, but he loved the taste of them; it made it even better that tea happened to be his favorite kind of drink.
Noticing that Mayu had finished the first part of her sandwich, the halfling tried to finish off the part he was working on. He was happy to see her eat, after what Kimiko had told him; however, it didn't quite make sense to him why she wasn't eatting in the first place. When someone close to someone dies, did that mean they couldn't eat anymore? He knew she was hungry, having heard her stomach growling in her room. Was she forcing herself to starve...?
"Seems like... you haven't eaten in a while..." Demare said a bit idly, taking the last bite of his sandwich half. He wrapped the second half back up, intending to eat it later.

"You're welcome," Mayu said, gulping down her bottle of iced tea and finishing her sandwich quickly. She had not drunk anything since the funeral either, except for little sips from a glass of water that Kimiko had brought her after she had refused to leave her bedroom.
"No, not since the funeral.." she said, a bit sadly. Sitting back in the seat, she rocked back and forth slowly and watched the rain drip down from the sides of the overhang.

Demare drew his feet just up enough to not touch the ground as Mayu began to rock the bench. He leaned down to set the bottle and his sandwich on the porch off to the side so it wouldn't get knocked over, resting his hands in his lap after he sat back upright.
"Why is that?" he asked curiously, staring down toward his feet. Concern and worry was written all over his face, but for some reason, he couldn't look at her right then. "You have a lot of people worried about you..."

"Sadness drives people to do strange things," Mayu said, with a small sigh. She placed the wrapper and the empty bottle aside, she would throw them away later.

"Does sadness keep you from staying healthy?" he asked, hunching down a little bit. "I know that you're upset, but... If you don't eat..."
He didn't even want to think about that. Demare knew that the body could only go so long without food before one began to starve to death. Was that what Mayu had wanted? Or would she have started to eat again before that time?
"You asked me why I came earlier. Kimiko called me and said she was worried about you... but I didn't come for her. I came here because I was scared."

"Sometimes it does."
Mayu was now feeling guilty. She hadn't known that people would be so worried about her...
"I'm sorry for scaring you," she said at last, and nodded. "I won't starve myself again." She smiled, wondering if that would be assuring enough.

Demare frowned slightly, then gently took the girl's hand into his own.
"You know, sometimes... sharing the pain makes it easier," he told her, his wings fidgetting a little bit. "It will still hurt, but it helps to have someone there to get through the pain."
He turned his bi-colored eye to Mayu, managing a weak smile. "If you'll let me, I'll do everything within my power to help."

"I will keep that in mind," she said, and smiled.
She looked downward and blushed as if she was hesitant about something, letting out a small sigh. Looking toward Demare, she suddenly grabbed him by the scarf and yanked him over, planting a kiss on his lips quickly.
"Well, I got that over with.." she said, and smiled.
The crowd had dissipated, assuming that nothing interesting was going to happen any time soon. All except Miyu, who had her face pressed to the window, watching intently. She let out a small shriek and fell back cackling as she saw the kiss, glad that she had stayed behind to watch the two children for just a little longer.

Demare blinked at the sight of Mayu blushing, wondering what it was about. Right before he was able to ask, however, his eyes widened slightly as the girl grabbed his scarf and yanked him closer to her, placing his free hand on her shoulder so he wouldn't just ram right into her. As he felt her lips against his, those couple of seconds just seemed to last forever, his face turning a bright red with blush.
Did she just... Did she just KISS him?
His mind just seemed to break as he found himself to be frozen, unable to think or move, much less say anything to the girl.
Did she just... KISS him???

Mayu giggled, though frowned slightly as she realized that he was in.. in shock? Had she done something wrong?
"Are you okay?" she asked, placing her hands on Demare's shoulders and shaking him lightly.
"What's so funny?" Kimiko asked, looking up from her sprawled position on the couch.
"Wait.. wait a second." Miyu sniffled, throwing her head back once again to guffaw in laughter. "She just kissed him!"
Kimiko strolled over to the window, shoving the elf over, and pressing her face to the window. The silver-haired one grumbled a bit, but made room for the teenager to see.

Demare's head shook with his shoulders a little bit before he got a grasp of reality again, then shook his head in a panic.
"N-no no! Y-you didn't do anything wrong!" he stammered, trying to calm himself down. "I was j-just surprised!"

Mayu sighed in relief, smiling at Demare. "That's good."
She really thought that she had done something bad to make the boy freeze up like that, and was relieved to see him okay.

"T-that was... very nice, actually," he said, still blushing like mad. Demare hesitated for a moment, then moved the hand he was holding hers with a little bit in order to hold it better. "Could we... try that again?"

Mayu blushed at the request, then smiled and nodded.
"What are they doing now?" Kimiko said, to which she got a sharp nudge. Scooting over, she allowed room for the elf to see.
"Uh... Nothing, for now. Wait, wait, something's happening!" she squealed. There was nothing like a good round of spying to get one's blood pumping.

The halfling had to think about this for a moment. How did one just go about... kissing somebody? Was there anything special that had to be done, or did one just... do it? Clare idly thought back to a memory that had come to him a couple of weeks ago, and he couldn't help but smirk a bit. Yeah... just like that.
Still blushing, his eyes fell closed as he slowly leaned forward and cupped her lips with his. He let the kiss linger for a moment, feeling a bit relucant to pull away when he did, but he didn't want to be like that for too long. A part of him was too afraid of someone opening the door and catching them like that, the boy not wanting to upset anyone in Mayu's family.
