His far too clear-seeing words were greeted with silence for long moments and Galatea closed her eyes. Finally, in a quiet voice, she asked, "Did I do something wrong, Nack? Did I just upset him?"

He laughed. A surprised laugh that broke from his lips before he could quell it. "No, Gala. He's fine. I swear." He said. "Silva's just not good at this sort of thing for long periods. And his idea of teaching is just like we described it. He drops you into the water and tells you not to drown." His grin reached his blue eyes, and they crinkled at the edges.

She risked opening her eyes in time to glance over and see his warm grin and the light in his eyes. Her lean little body relaxed a bit, the tension ebbing just the slightest. Nack had no reason to lie to her, after all. Shyly, she smiled back at him. "Oh. I see." She paused and then turned her eyes skywards again. Her arms absently moved and soon she was lazily skulling in the direction of shallower waters. "I never quite know," she explained and there was something almost heart-breaking in how matter-of-fact her tone was. "If I upset people or not and, if I do, how I do it. I don't know if that means I have no feelings or if they're broken."

He hesitated for a moment, looking thoughtful. "It's never really a problem in this household." He said after a moment. "Except maybe with Aleric. Usually if someone does something stupid they get yelled at for it."
He followed her, but let his arms drop. He didn't need to support her so vividly just then. She seemed to be getting the hold of it. "Then after they get yelled at it gets forgotten. Like when Silva almost killed Nick. I figure if we can forgive something like that, then we can forgive about anything..." He finished with a shrug.

The revelation that Silva had nearly killed Nick did not even raise a blink from the girl. There was a ripple in the water as she managed to nod vaguely. "That is not broken, though," she replied softly. "That is... Healing, I believe Dr. Beckham would call it. There was a lesson in there, too, I'm sure." She looked at him out the corner of her eye and smiled weakly. "And you felt things during that event, correct? And you knew why you were upset and why things were wrong."

He stopped. This "Broken" thing seemed to be pressing in her mind. So he considered his words for a long moment before he spoke. "Some people... focus on their emotions. Like Nick. If he's feeling something he goes with it, doesn't care about what happens when he's done. Then there's other people that think things through with their minds."
He fell silent for a moment. "Sometimes you have to learn stuff like emotions, I guess. Like watching people interact with others. Even on TV. And if you really don't know what the problem is, then maybe you should just ask."

"Sometimes I do... But that seems to upset people as well." Abruptly, Galatea slammed her wings shut against her back and kicked her feet down until she was able to stand on tip-toes, arms lazily moving to aid her balance. A crease appeared between her dark eyebrows. "Nobody else has to learn, though. Even the Captain knows. Though she never tells me what they are."

"Sometimes emotions are a bad thing." He admitted. "Like sometimes you love the wrong person. Or sometimes you get angry over stupid things. And your angry words can hurt people a lot worse than watching them or saying something that might be a little wrong."

She nodded slowly. "I know anger." There was almost an echo of shame in her words as she admitted to that. "I get angry a lot... How should love feel? Because I know I love the Captain. She is brave and clever and strong." She half-closed her eyes, considering. "And I think I love Dr. Beckham because he is smart and warm. And," now she blushed a bit, "Silva and Soho and you and Nick and Hadrian. I think."

"Well... you like to be around them, for one. And you like to do things for them." He started out slowly, blushing ever so slightly as he thought about it. "And when they compliment you, you feel like you've been given the biggest candybar you've ever seen and it's all for you." He said.

"Oh." Galatea processed this for a moment. "I understand. I know those feelings." She smiled, tiny and hopeful, cheeks pinking more. "What about... That is, what if you feel too warm around them? As if you were a bit ill. If you feel unbalanced?"

"And when they're around you want to be close?" He asked slowly. He was almost certain he knew what she was talking about, but-- "Does Silva make you feel that way?"

"Silva?" she repeated. Galatea frowned a bit and appeared to be considering his question. Then, finally, she shook her head. "Not... -Exactly-. He makes me warm and I feel like I've been given a candy bar but I don't always want to be near him." Taking another few paddles backwards, she managed to stabilize herself more so she could stop using her arms as much. This allowed her to use a dripping hand to push her thick bangs out of her face. "Besides, I am just a child to him."
How she felt about this statement could only be guessed; her quiet tone gave nothing away.

He nodded. "Well usually a feeling like that means you're in love love. Romantic love." He said with a shrug. "Sometimes it lasts, sometimes it doesn't, I'm afraid."
"But it's an emotion, I would think. One of the strongest emotions."
