Theif smiled and followed Adrian. "Thank you, both of you."
He glanced back at Soco, with his smile looking a little sad and said, "Kiki's been so lonely."

"Not a problem," Adrian said, waving his hand in the air. "Anytime."
"Poor girl," Soco murmured. He followed after the two adults, and then quickly moved to open the door. "Hopefully we'll be able to remedy that, soon," he said with a nod.

Theif smiled brightly, trying to change his suddenly saddened frame of mind. "So, there's the door!"

"Of course!" Theif bowed again, to both Adrian and Soco, then scuttled off and away.

~*~ Soco and Kilayla made their way across the fields to the mansion, and went around through the garden to the backdoor. It wasn't used very often, as most of the Kanthians and Karletians stayed inside out of the summer heat.
The weather wasn't too oppressive today, which helped make the walk enjoyable. Soco cast a glance at the outdoor pool and the glass enclosure that housed the indoor pool, and he wondered if the girl beside him would enjoy swimming.
He unlocked the door and led Kiki inside. The backdoor led to the kitchen, where Hana was busy chopping away at vegetables.
"Hello, we're home," Soco said in greeting.

As they had made their way near the house, Kiki'd been looking around. It was big. She found herself wondering vaguely why Soco had such a big bathtub in his house, then decided that it was because he wasn't poor, like Theif.
Kiki smiled up at Soco as they came through the door, and was about to comment on this, but he was saying hello to someone. Kiki looked back ahead of her, and saw a giant kitty, chopping vegetables. Not a kitty like Theif was a kitty. This kitty was all over in fur, and stripey, like a tiger. Maybe she was just a really big tiger.
Kiki stared, and wondered if she should be worried.
"Are you a tiger!?" she blurted after a second.

Hana hadn't looked up when Soco announced his presence. She did slowly turn around, however, when Kiki asked her question. The tiger narrowed her eyes as she stared down at the little girl.
Soco, looking both a little embarassed and a little amused, mouthed the words, Be nice.
"Yes," Hana finally answered. "Don't bother me, or I'll eat you for supper." She turned around and went back to her chopping, the knife blade flashing as she worked.

Kiki's eyes went wide. Simultaniously, her mouth popped open. She clutched Soco's shirt again, and moved so that she was standing behind him. She peeked out warily from behind him. "Let's ...go," Kilayla said in a hushed voice.

Soco chuckled very, very softly as he led Kiki out of the kitchen and into the entrance hall. "Don't mind her," he said, giving the girl a pat on the shoulder. "She's a little odd, but she won't eat you. Karlet and I wouldn't let her, anyway."
The library was down the hall from the main entrance and the kitchen, so Soco started walking in that direction.

Kiki made a face, a sort of scared face. She looked over her shoulder as she walked down the hall, then back up at Soco. "She would try?!"

"I highly doubt it," Soco said with a smile. "She doesn't eat humans -- especially cute little girls, like you." He gave Kiki's hand a reassuring squeeze.
The door to the library, as well as the great windows inside the room, had been left open, providing a nice breeze through the hallway. The room was still as neat as Soco had left it, that morning, which was to be expected since most of the other residents didn't spent a lot of time in there.
The room itself was small in area, but quite tall. The bookcases touched the ceiling -- so tall that they needed those special ladders to reach the highest shelves. Of course, the best books for children and teenagers were left at appropriate heights, and all the "boring" books were at the top.
The windows had seats, and there was a plush couch and matching chair. But also by the windows was the baby grand piano that someone had bought on a whim.
"Well, here it is," Soco said, letting go of Kiki's hand so that she could poke around. "It's not much, but it's good enough for what the family needs."

Light filled Kilayla's face at the 'cute little girl' comment. She was smiling contentedly as they entered the library.
Her eyes roamed around the room, a dreamy look in them. "It's so...pretty," she said quietly.
She felt like maybe running into the library, and flopping down onto one of the pretty couches. Kiki figured that it would probably be better just to walk quietly so she didn't break anything and get kicked out...or eaten!!! {{ gonk }}
Her eyes fell on the piano near the window, and a hopeful look filled her face. She began a careful, quiet walk toward the piano, then hesitated, glancing back over her shoulder at Soco.

There wasn't anything too breakable -- within reason -- in the library, but Soco still appreciated Kiki controlling her excitement. It was clear that she was trying her hardest, just by the expression on her face and the way she moved across the room.
When she turned to look at him, he was still smiling and gave her a nod. "Go ahead and give it a try," he offered. "No one will mind."

"Really!?" Kiki asked. Without waiting for a reply, she made her way over to the piano, and sat down before it.
Her mind flashed breifly to that movie she'd seen with Theif. The pale and pretty blonde girl had sat with her piano teacher, and he hit her fingers when she didn't do it right.
After a second of staring at the black and white keys, Kilayla looked over to Soco. She wondered if he'd hit her fingers. "Please don't hit me," she said to the pink-haired boymaid.
