Takeko chuckled, smiling warmly as she took a seat at the table as well. "Please, help yourself, Blake. I baked plenty and there are more in the kitchen." She pushed the platter closer to him invitingly after taking one for herself. "Saffron, you know better than that. Feet off the table, please."
Saffron harumphed softly, though he obediently moved his feet to the floor with a small thump. His parents were certainly treating this guy well, considering he was technically the reason Mei Lien had run off. Why couldn't he get away with the sort of things that she did? Just because she was a LITTLE older than him. He took a cookie, practically inhaling it then leaning back and crossing his arms over his chest. Maybe if he hadn't spent so much time around here while growing up. Maybe he should have snuck away from his mother's overprotective watch and met some other Paes too.

"Oh, thank you." He smiled. There was cookies! If there was one thing Blake loved stuff down his throat it was cookies. He crabbed a particularly crunchy looking one and munched. "Mmmm. These are very good." He chewed happily on another one.

((Man, I missed alot camping...*tries to reincert Aspen*))
Aspen lingered at the door while Blake was getting to know Saffron and Takeko. He had hoped his daughter was with him, but that wasn't the case. Where was Mei Lien?
Aspen wandered back to where everyone was with a smile, "Now what's going pn in here?"

Blake swallowed his second cookie and turned to Aspen. "Just....eating cookies, sir. They're very delicious." He smiled to Takeko before taking a sip of water.

He'd caused enough damage at the moment. Saffron sipped his water, remaining silent for the time being. He could always stir things up again later if it got too boring.
Takeko patted the chair next to her, inviting Aspen to come sit beside her while they talked. Hoping that the boy had had a chance to relax, she turned back to Blake, smiling reassuringly. "So...not to put you on the spot or anything, Blake, but perhaps you could tell us a little about yourself. I understand you've met my husband, Aspen, but I'd like to get to know you as well."

"Yes, Takeko does make wonderful cookies." Aspen siad with a smile. He saw Takeko's pat and joined her at the table. He listened intently to this conversation.

Blake relaxed a little. They didn't seem angry and they were being very polite. Well aside from Saffron. But he felt safe enough to let his guard down a bit. Even though he was a little afraid of what they'd think of him. "Well...I like swimming. I can't fly very well so it's something to do. I also like collecting things. just random stuff I find interesting. Sea shells, different leaves...teddy bears." He whispered the last part quickly and continued on. "Things like that. I'd like to learn how to cook as well."

Takeko chuckled softly, her sharp ears picking up the teddy bear remark and kindly choosing not to say anything about it. "I see...you're a very insteresting young man, Blake." She smiled warmly. He certainly seemed nice enough. Afterall, he couldn't be completely at blame for a decision that their daughter had made on her own. She couldn't judge him based on something like that.
She reached out to take another cookie, nodding slightly. "Those are wonderful interests to have. I can attest that cooking can certainly be a rewarding experience in itself. Have you tried cooking anything yet? Perhaps for any friends or family?" She wasn't trying to be sneaky; just steering the conversation onto a side path. She wondered what sort of family he had. He had to have had someone to raise him, right?

Aspen sat and listened, he did remember Blake being a sweet guy. He was just a bit too amarous toward thier daughter who was still a child at the time. "My mother loved to cook too, it's very soothing."

"Thank you, ma'am. And I tried making noodles once. They turned out pretty good so I'm happy about that." He also reached for another cookie and smiled. "My sister, Bo helps me cook. My family isn't known for being any good at it so we mostly go out to eat. That's why I'd like to make my own food. Restaurants are expensive." Happily he munched the cookie and looked to Aspen. "That's neat. Did she ever teach you anything, Sir?"

Takeko laughed, turning and looking at Aspen with a raised eyebrow. "That's a good question, dear. One I'd like to know the answer to as well, seeing as I seem to do all the cooking around here." She winked, playfully poking her husband's arm.
In truth, she loved cooking and certainly didn't mind cooking for her family. That didn't mean she couldn't have a little fun picking on Aspen, however.

Aspen chuckled, "Well...I do know a thing or two about salads if anyone is interested." He laughed that was all his Mom really liked to cook. She baked a bit and ate greens.
Mei Lien slowly opened the door to the house. She was full after eating at her Grandparents house. She heard voices and walked into the kitchen. her eyes widneded as she saw Blake with her parents and Saffron.

Blake smiled and looked over to Aspen. Takeko had him there. He had the strongest urge to point at him and scream 'BURN!' but he didn't feel it was appropriate. Instead he bit into another cookie and squeaked "I like salads." His ears twitched slightly as he heard someone enter the house. And he nearly choked when he saw it was Mei Lien. An ADULT Mei Lien. She was even prettier than before if that was at all possible. Which it was. again he was prepared to say something completely different but all that came out was "H-hi, Mei Lien."

Aspen chuckled at Blake and then turned his gaze. He saw his daughter and jumped up. "Mei Lien! Where have you been!?"
Mei Lien looked down. "I was at Grandpa and Grandma's. I'm sorry I didn't tell you." She looked up a little and smiled shyly to Blake, "Hi, Blake."

Blake smiled back and his tail twisted lightly. "So....umm...we both grew. Heh....heheh...Yeah." He smoothed back his hair badly and sighed heavily. "Smooooth." He said under his breath, feeling very stupid.
