Yea..my dad thinks the same thing- My mom personally thinks hide is hot..lol. But hey, if you can't convince her that hide is a man, then just don't argue with her.

Nice pic Arpegius. Very funny. My mom and everyone I know who doesn't like jrock thinks hide looks like a teenage girl. O_o Either way, I don't care. I know he's a guy.
...and even if he wasn't, I still wouldn't care. XD

The word you guys are looking for that relates to hide's feminine side is called Bishonen. Basically The Japanese ideal is the Bishonen- That is: the pretty, feminine boys. They're suppose to look cute/pretty/beautiful and NOT manly. They're suppose to have a really thin body, like a young girls almost... You might have seen this ideal in the animes and mangas (lol, I know I have! xd ) where there is at least one of these bishonens (meaning "beautiful boy" simply). They are often mysterious and by our non-Japanese standards a little gay- but they're NOT meant to be gay, Only attractively beautiful. hide was a dude. I mean if he was a women eek all the more power to him or her. I mean whoa if he was I mean...Think about it! xd

In fact, a lot of Japanese guys act like hide did (unless they think they're too cool for their pointy toed boots xD). You'd be suprised at how many Japanese guys are so cuddly and immature O_o;.

I'm confused what looking feminine has to do with immaturity. confused Just was throwing in my two cents. I thought about that after I posted it but I was too lazy to change it, I get off in tangents sometimes. I really don't think hide looks like bishonen, that word is hardly ever used anymore :/. (Except in the weeaboo circles. Goddamn anime. ANYWAY)...Sometimes maturity has something to do with how you dress and how you look. For example, you don't want to see a grandma in a leather mini skirt, corset and thigh high boots, AMIRITE. Some guys LIKE looking feminine, or that's part of their look (sometimes visual kei, ex. old Shinya or Dir en grey)...I guess what my point is, if you have to try and look feminine and have that gimmick, including fanservice, then are you really a serious, mature, artist? Now, I don't think hide always looked naturally feminine, take a look at his teen pics or his early X Japan pics. However, hide has never looked feminine to me, and I'll tell you why: strong jawbone (Yes, there are some females with heavy and strong jawbones, but the majority of females have a softer jawbone), adams apple (need I explain this one? Maybe because I find the neck of a man one of the best parts, thats always one of the things I notice first, and it's kind of hard for me to find someone feminie when I'm looking at their adam's apple), I could go on but I think my rant about nothing has gone on long enough O_O.

Oh, you just mean looks wise. I don't really even know what Bishonen is.... still figuring out all this stuff. Now, visual kei, I know.... Shinya.... OMG... so beautiuful back then, and now so handsome... wow... He doesn't look feminine to me either.

I've been watching different vids of him quite a bit lately. During the last live concert, his movements are rather feminine at times, like the way he runs, and just the way he will carry himself on occasion. In photos there are aspects of him that do look feminine like on his Misery poster, he doesn't look 100% feminine, but partially. Also, I don't think maturity has anything to do with these feminine characteristics, he was a performer, he had his own style, and he marched to the beat of his own drum.

XD I've found this whole thread funny to read. But anyways, I'm most likely just going to end up repeating what other people have said. XP But I feel the need to comment anyways. When you've been into Jrock for so long, especially the Visual Kei style, telling which ones are trying to be girly vs. which ones aren't is just really obvious, and it comes as second nature, in my opinion at least. One look at hide, and you could easily consider him to be on the 'manlier' side. Even more so when compared to, as Kaoru Valentine said, Shinya when Dir en Grey was a Visual Kei band, or look a Bou, from AN CAFE, that was feminine. hide's clothing style doesn't even come close to being womanly either, I have yet to see him in a dress with thigh-high PVC boots. XP Now, to someone who's never been interested in Japan, let alone the music scene, it wouldn't be so obvious. I've had so many people say, "Hey! He's in a dress, is he gay? He's gay isn't he? No real man would wear a dress!" And no matter how many times you try to explain how things work over there, it's almost impossible to hammer it into their heads that it's a style, and does not define their sexuality. Even when the guys aren't wearing dresses, and when, to us they wouldn't even be considered feminine, they think they're gay. Most, but not all, Japanese guys are naturally thin, and sort of 'pretty'. I've never thought of hide as the feminine type. I mean, he may have a few feminine mannerisms, but really, don't most of the Jrockers out there? XP Point being, hide could hardly be classified as 'feminine'. Let alone be a woman. The only time I have ever even seen hide looking sort of feminine, was in Seth et Holth. XD But that's about it. <__< But I guess, people can think whatever they want. =/ It won't change the fact that he's a man. XP
