Jamie turned to see a little Calli head popping out from behind the car. She smiled.
"'Kay Calli! Is it just you, or is your mother coming along too?"

"Calli!" Aiden, beaming, dashed forwards, holding his chin up high in the air. "It's good to see you," the green and brown Skull Monkey said, blushing a bit. "I haven't seen you in a little while. . ." The young adult Skull Monkey grinned sheepishly, lowering his eyes and looking at the ground.

After a few awkward moments, Aiden headed over to Jamie, smiling politely at her. "Hello, Miss Jamie. Nice to see you again." She grinned. "Mum and I are here to go on the trip!"

It was then that Roxy stepped out of her black GMC, grinning all the while. She too wore a swimsuit in black, though it was a tankini instead of a bikini. A red, drooping rose was positioned in the middle of her top. She grinned. "Black seems to be the color today," she commented.

Jamie giggled excitedly. "Hello Aiden, glad you and your mother could make it!" she said, petting his skull playfully.
The girl turned to Roxy, waving stupidly.
"Great swimsuit! Very stylish" she shouted, admiring the car behind her.

"Thanks, Jamie," Roxy laughed, padding over to Jamie in her flip flops. "So. . . Ready to have a day of fun in the sun? I know I am! I even brought stuff for the Sandcastle Competition!" Roxy proudly held up a bucket and a few shovels. "Aiden and I are gonna try to win!"

Aiden, meanwhile, was glancing at Calli out of the corner of his eye. Why couldn't he take his eyes off her? She was. . . she was. . . enchanting. That was a suitable word for her. Aiden sighed, eventually pulling his gaze away. "She'd never like me anyway," he muttered to himself, trying to mend the heart that his sad thoughts threatened to break.

Jamie hugged Roxy playfully, giggling still at the whole situation. "Can't wait! Sadly, I'm not entering the contest as I am judging, and Tou might help me. I think we'll be leaving soon, might wait for a few more people though."

Tou sat in the car, hanging out the window. She noticed Aiden staring at Calli, and caught on at once.
"'Lo Aiden, take a photo, lasts longer!" she squeaked, a mischevious grin on her face for the second time.

[Sorry about that. School keeps me away. >.>]

Laughing at everyone around her, Claia sighs. "Well...I've got to go, you all. I wish I could stay, but I've got to get home and do some major work. Have fun, Chiyo!!" she smiles at she speaks, then turns and runs off.

Chiyo watches her mother go, staring at her back. She'd never been alone before, and nervously she laid on the ground and watched her feet with great intrest. She just knew they'd make fun...they could all talk. She couldn't. That was a perfect recipe for name-calling, and she braced herself.

Jamie waved goodbye to Claia, and approached Chiyo carefully in a kind way.
"H'lo there Chiyo. M'names Jamie, and I'll be paying special attention to you today because your mothers gone. It'll be ok, the others won't say a thing. I'll make sure of it." she said, trying to reassure the child.

She was about to pick Chiyo up, but thought twice. Maybe she wouldn't like it?
"You mind being picked up? Or are you all fidgety like Tou was?"
Jamie hadn't forgotten about Chiyo not being able to speak, and thought that she would hopefully just nod or shake her head.

Chiyo looked up in surprise. Actually, she was quite the clingy one. But...she hadn't met this person before. Then again...if mom knew her..

She nodded, very slightly, then quickly turned her head.

Jamie nodded back, quite relieved. She wrapped her arms gently around the child's back, lifting her up slowly and then holding her to her chest in a cuddly fashion. The girl petted the newly-fitted skull, and occasionally tickling under Chiyo's chin.
"See, it's ok. You'll be fine. You think you'll want to have a little splash in the sea when we get there? We'll be leaving extremely soon!"

Chiyo sat in Jamie's arms, smiling despite herself. She voiced a little sound, her best try to say thank you. She looked around at all the other Skull Monkeys. They seemed nice enough...but you could never tell. She'd go for staying with Jamie for a little while longer.

When Jamie mentioned the ocean, Chiyo turned her gaze back to her face. Her orb-like eyes filled with longing. She'd heard about the ocean before. Aspyn had been there, once. She'd told her all about how the water was salty and heavy, and about the sand and the fish and the shells. She'd even made a castle with Claia! Chiyo was captivated.

Rocking the child back and forward in her arms, she saw Chiyo's little face light up. She guessed it was about the sea.

"When we get there, you can look in the rock pools at all the little crabs and starfish, and all the little fishies that live in it. Then we can go find some pretty shells, you could even take them home to show your mum! I'm sure she'd like that. And I think you have an older sibling, Aspyn? You can show her too."

She waddled over to the car to lean on it, and continued, "Also, we can build a sandcastle. Although, I don't think I'll be able to help you as I'm judgine, but I'm sure you could go with another team."

She grinned as Jamie told her about these things. But, when she reached the team part, she faltered. Other teams? She...she had to meet new people? Her jitters retured, and she looked down in distress.

Jamie noticed the saddening in the child's face. She thought for a moment.

"If you don't want to be in a big group, you could always go with Toulouze, my monkey. She loves looking after the younger monkeys, and it'd just be you and her. No one else."
PostPosted: Thu Sep 02, 2004 1:58 pm

Chiyo had never heard of Toulouze. But...if she was Jamie's...maybe she wouldn't make fun. Maybe.

Then, Chiyo had another question, but a pained expression crossed her face as she realized she couldn't express it. After thingking a moment, she lifted her paws. Wiggling them around to express what (she hoped) looked like little creatures, she asked the mental question: What about the little animals? Do I have to be in a team to see the little animals?

Jamie stared at the child's little fingers, moving around in a 'creepy crawly' type way.
"Um, insects? Animals? Fishies?" she asked, rather stuck for ideas.
