"Ohmygoodness," wooshed out from Ubel's lips in a single, quiet breath, and he stared up at Kortus with wide eyes for several moments - it felt like minutes! - before he could speak up. "I... I was looking for you, s-sir, though Antigone and I... as she said, both need to make up your class..." He offered a weak, wobbly smile, shifting just enough to make sure that the bolder, more outgoing Antigone was in front of him.

"Ah, ya missed the first class?" Kortus asked, a slight dismay flickering over his features for a moment before being replaced with a jovial smile. "I always make an effort to make the first class a real blast! This year I gave out some really nifty items."
He nodded his shaggy head enthusiastically up and down. "But well, it happens a lot. We gotta take Husks as we can find 'em, y'know? So there's no realy time for a enrollment deadline." Kortus looked briefly around the room. After taking in all he apparently needed to see, he turned his milky gaze back on Antigone and Ubel and grinned. "So, did you want to start on a little catch up? Crafting is a very interesting and fun subject you know! It seems simple enough at first, but it's the beautiful hybrid of art and science!" He was hodding again, and his upper two arms had unlinked themselves to allow his hands to rub together in mirth.

Ubel marveled at the large Empyrean for several moments more, before shaking his head to snap himself out of his daze, coughing lightly and grinning sheepishly up at Kortus. "I do wish I hadn't missed the first class... but I suppose it can't be helped. I would really like to catch up, yes, if it's no trouble, sir."

Antigone grinned sheepishly up at the huge professor. "Wish I could have been there." She fell silent then, as he began to talk about the subject he taught. Smiling to herself, she nodded. This man really loved what he did, which would make him a good teacher. "We'd like to learn, sir," the Sanguine said with a vigerous nod that sent her curls bouncing, a bright smile upon her lips.

"That's what I like to hear!!" Kortus exclaimed happily. He turned on his heel, his two lower hands waving the Zeroes to follow him and heded towards his massive chair. "Alright, I'm just going to cover what we went over in class. Make yourselves comfortable, and if you wanna take notes you may, but you don't have to."
Kortus pointed to one of the technorings on his bracer and grinned. "First things first! To activate a technoring, you tap on it once, soundly and surely. Don't hesitate." He tapped decisively on the technoring and a glove appeared on his hand, tight to his digits and laced with little electrode nodes. "This is a Magnegrip. Different items have different lengths of usage. Never attempt to use an item for longer than it's limit. It will short-circuit or warp the item, and can melt or destroy the ring it was stored in as well. Notice the ring is still a visible part of the item. To unequip it," He tapped twice solidly on the surface of the ring, carefuly to bridge the indentation with his fingers. "You tap twice quickly in a row. Now, some items, like Aeroboots, when active are dangerous to touch, so obviously you can't reach in and tap the ring. In cases like that, you can make two distinct tapping motions above the ring at a maximum of 2 feet away. The air currents and the traces of essence they carry from your hand tot he ring will have the same effect. You have to concentrate if deactivating this way, though, in order to make sure the current of intention reaches the ring. Also, it is slower to react than to a direct tap, because of the distance and the strength of the Empyrean attempting it." Kortus grinned. "Does all that make sense so far? Any questions?" The look on his face clearly showed that he loved getting questions from his students.

Ubel glanced at Antigone, before smiling brightly and taking her hand as they walked to Kortus's chair. He took a seat on the floor, digging into his knapsack to quickly withdraw his quill, ink and notebook. As soon as the professor began to speak, he began to write, glancing between the paper and Kortus, listening intently. These were good things to know... certainly not what he had expected with a class titled 'crafting.' He had things to put within technorings. Then he tilted his head, wiggling his fingers lightly over the paper. "How would one tell what the limit of an item is? And what might one do if one was unable to get to the technoring within that two foot distance?"

Antigone chirped happily when Ubel took her hand, twining her warm fingers around his cool hand. It must have been the differences in their essences. Digging around in her own bag, she pulled out a decorative notebook with a sun emblazened upon the cover. Digging out a quill, she borrowed some of Ubel's ink with a soft laugh, and began to scribble down everything she could as the large professor spoke to them. Looking over at her friend, she beamed when he asked the exact questions she had been wondering about.

Kortus nodded enthusiastically when Ubel asked his questions. "Well," the big Choleric responded with an equally big grin, "The limits for all techno items are listed on the form that is sent to your room when you receive them. You'll have the information there for easy access. However, if you wanna check up on the stats of an item, you can find complete lists in my classroom tacked on the wall... or in Metro's shop once you get out of the White District." He paused to let them chicken scratch their notes and then continued. "As for being further than 2 feet away...well, I'm afraid you can't de-activate a technoring that way. It has to be by Essence, which means personal contact. Since everything in the world has traces of essence in it, if you get too far away, the essence that pours off you from your intention to deactivate a technoring, becomes tangled up and lost in all the essence floating in the air - of your opponent, any creatures or monsters in the area, even the little residual bit given off by technorings themselves in action!" Kortus paused then, a little longer, one hand coming up to scratch his ear thoughtfully. "But, if I can ask...in what situation would a technoring be out of your reach? They're all fastened on your clothing."

Ubel blinked a few times in rather mild surprise when he was asked a question in turn, before a sheepish smile appeared on his lips. "I was thinking of the given possibility of being stuck. Say you have Aeroboots, and they are activated, but, somehow, someway, you've managed to get yourself stuck. Take me for example." He stretched out his legs a bit and pointed. "My technorings are directly on my shoes, as most peoples' are. If Aeroboots are activated, and I am stuck in such a way that I cannot lean over, twist, or bring up a leg close enough for me to turn them off, I'm rather in trouble."

Then he paused, flushing rather suddenly and squirming a bit. "That all sounded rather silly and paranoid, didn't it?" he asked quietly, looking mildly upset with himself.

Antigone laughed softly at Ubel, leaning over to kiss his cheek lightly. "You're too cute. Besides, it's better to know, just in case, than to not know and really need the knowledge, right, professor?" The Sanguine turned her golden gaze to large teacher, a winning smile on her lips.

Kortus gave a soft chuckle before gently shaking his head. "I thought you were going to try to deactivate someone else's technoring. But, if you had your Aeroboots activated, you'd hardly be stuck, you'd be flying!" He shook one hand then, to signal he had more to say. "But, I understand your concern. Say, you're flying into a dangerous situation, and someone puts an immobilizing spell on you, or hits you with one of the petrifying Castor Shots. Well, in that case, you'll need to use your other skills, mudras, chakras, spell work, or even potions in order to free yourself." Kortus placed his two lower hands upon his knees and leaned over to peer at them closely. His chair creaked in protest. "And never, never, underestimate the impotance of friends. There is a reason we don't let Empyreans out of the city alone. A companion of equal or higher transcendance or a gatekeeper must accompany you." Kortus smiled kindly, and sat back in his chair.

Ubel smiled softly at what Kortus said, nodding slightly, only to pause. "Oh... oh, heaven's," he breathed, mewling a little bit and looking sheepish. "I'm sorry... but I have to go. Professor, do you think I could come back soon? I just remembered that I promised Mathiaz I would hang out with him somewhere, just so we could spend time together," he murmured, squirming a bit.

Antigone blinked in surprise at Ubel's words, before she laughed softly, an punched him playfully- lightly, as she still remembered that she had hit him in the chest durring the paintball wars- in the upper arm. "I'll go with you if we ever leave the city," she said with a grin. "Or you could take Mathiaz. I'll talk to you later, Ube, right?" She turned back to the professor, and smiled sheepishly, feeling bad for interupting his 'class', such as it was.

Ubel got to his feet and bowed shyly at the professor, making a tiny sound of embarrassment. "Thank you for your time. I'll return to you soon," he said quietly, before tucking away his notebook into his knapsack and hurrying off to find Mathiaz.

Kortus waved Ubel on with three of his four hands. The fourth one stroked his goat-like goatee. "Do you have any other questions, Antigone?" Kortus asked kindly, peering at her with milky eyes.
