Arrival It was a clear, cold night outside Daistorm School and the light from millions of stars shon on the ground, brighter than all the light from the moon. The waves from the nearby lake were heard through the forest surrounding the school on this strangely silent night. The interior of Daistorm magic school was silent too, as all of the resedents had promptly gone to sleep. All except one eager old professor who was currently squinting through the lense of a giant telescope in his personal observatory, while leaning on his cane and smoking his pipe.
Behind the professor was a fireplace that currently contained a smokeless fire he'd prepared, a desk filled with star charts, spare lenses, quill pen and ink, and the professor's open star log.
Mordecai had been charting the nature of a particular star that he had recently discovered wasn't listed in any star chart. The star, he had named Davin.
For the past month he'd been observing it's nature and found that, unlike many of the stars in the sky, it didn't move. Besides this feature, Mordecai had found that the star seemed to glow brighter and brighter with every passing day. However, the professor found that this light had nothing to do with its movement, but rather the exchange of gasses, and what for some reasoned seemed to be mana energy.
The professor's eye was now completely glued to the star now, because for some reason, the professor could tell that the mana energy surrounding the star had reached its peak. And now all was still as the professor waited for something to happen.

Asleep in his stone, the soul of Davin shifted in its restlessness; when the voice of the sun rang out in his heart.
It is time...
The star Davin, became dislodged from its dark and lonely prison, and started to hurl towards Gaia surrounded in the fire of its rebirth.

Mordecai staired as for the first time, the star began to move. But the star wasn't moving to catch up with the rest of the star cycle. On the contrary, the star was shooting down from the sky. Mordecai watched in awe, unable to tear his eyes away from the sight as the star gained acceleration, hydrogen and helium gasses fusing around themselves and the mana energy to solidify into the shape of a beautiful gem that was suddenly caught in the earth's atmosphere and rocketed itself straight down, down until it landed with a thud into the earth outside the school, in a shallow crater.
Mordecai, immediatly discarded his pipe, grabbed his cane and shuffled as fast as he could out the door of the observatory and down towards the grounds.
It wasn't too long before he gazed upon the impact site with wonder. The stone on the ground was steaming, just having come from the coldness of space into the heat of Gaia's atmosphere. As a security precaution, Mordecai held out his cane to the stone and muttered an incantation that changed the temperature of the air surrounding it until he was certain that it was safe enough to touch.
Cautiousely making his way towards the object, he found it to be an oddly shaped orange gem that was just big enough to take up half the space of his palm. Slowly, Mordecai bent over to pick it up with his free hand and upon his elderly fingers making contact, he felt a final pulsation of energy surge through both he and the stone.
Standing up with the stone in his grasp, Mordecai rotated it in the moonlight, catching every glimmer of light it made with his eyes.
"Davin..." he said, nodding finally with some understanding as he took a final peer as deep as he could into the stone.

My name... The soul inside the stone registered.
There for the first time in aeons, the soul of Davin felt at rest knowing that there was someone watching over him.
