tsvi_tyl nathan_ngl The only prayer where I actually feel "wow this is long" is yom kippur... xp . I find the people that drawn out the prayer like shmaaaaaa really ammusing 3nodding blaugh ! there are also the guys who start crying out loud when saying shema... rofl rofl rofl is kind of annoying because he crying more... and more... like yeah: " yom kipur is almost over, take your time..." rofl and that guy happens to be the chazzan... (leader of the prayer.) That's the way its supposed to be really sweatdrop

the rabis at my temple usually make it pretty interesting ( when i get to bored i usually draw, not on the books!)

I really like the Cantor at our temple- he's really nice and funny, and he makes some of the more-drawn out prayers seem fun 3nodding

Strangely, all the good chazzanim seem to be those that draw out the teffila stare . Sometimes the central shul near here has a choir come, and a prayer session that should have taken 2 hours, takes 6 instead. And many people are happy about it sweatdrop . But I'm hungry!!! (Well, I don't pray there anyways... to many people talk during prayers... and I wonder why rolleyes ).

My rabbi would insist on doing the same prayer in Hebrew, then in English. EVERY TIME. It's like, I get it, I get it, you read Hebrew better than me.

It's like, I get it, I get it, you read Hebrew better than me. maybe it's so people that don't know Hebrew as well can understand it? 3nodding they should know hebrew. end of story. but, the world being as it is, not everyone speaks fluent lashon hakodesh, and because of this, there is a wonderful organisation called torah mesorah, and they print the artscroll series, an accurate transliteration of nearly everything. www.mesorah.org saying the tefillah in english, if it helps you, more power to you. but it's the hebrew that's the ikor (main point, focus). i mean, come on, you're supposed to be begging you're Creator for mercy. i would suppose it helps to know what one is saying.

G-d understands you in any language you pray in... It's simply the fact that it's "sfat hakodesh" that makes hebrew preferable... sweatdrop
