Korean_turtle87 well, indians and pakistani's don't really call themselves asians. its usuall just us oriental asians that call ourselves asians. but asian pride only applies to white washed asian kids. i mean c'mon. there's no such thing as asian unity in asia. China hates everyone, korea hates everyone, Japan hates everyone, Vietnam...hates China for sure, not sure about the others. Taiwan....hates China and korea etc. here, all asians get along. well, most of them. and jpn's never call themselves asians. they're like brits. they want to be seperate from the mainland continent. LOL So true.

Well, geographically, we're Asian, region-wise, we're Oriental. There are many sides to this debate, and it depends on perspective on how specific you want to be when it comes to this. I don't mind either, but what I do mind is when Asian becomes Chinese. But if you want to be really specific, you just need to say Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian, Pakistani, etc....

Isnt anyone from ASIA a asian? The sihk and punjab people where I live are called east asians and they dont look anything like koreans or chinese or japanese.

I don't really like people lumping my race together with the greater part of other races from asia although yes technically my race comes from asia. It's like calling english, scottish, italians etc. Caucasians.
It's not offensive but I hate it when my race is generalized, plus I'm a 3rd generation diaspora so I identify myself more with the country I was born in. I mean like British indicates he/she lives in the UK but doesn't necessarily mean he/she is English. Could be Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Chinese etc. for all you know.
Especially when westerners go like: "Wow you're smart, you must be Japanese!"

Here's my verdict:
Koreans, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Taiwanese, Mongolians and Filipinos are Asian. In other words: if they got the eyes, then they're good.
Russians are Eurasians, more European than Asian but still in Asia. Seriously, I should just say they're Europeans...
Indians, Pakistanis and the like I consider to be more Middle-Eastern... still technically Asian though since they're on the continent.
and Oriental... is food from Asia, except Russia... I'm serious, they're more European than Asian and this should prove it. And every time somebody says I'm oriental, I freak out and call them retards for it, because I'm not food... except to lions and tigers and bears... oh my. lol.
