Gundamgirl861 Lady_Matsu08 I think that if Heero and Relena were to get together and what not, they would drive eachother crazy. Relena would relize that Heero isn't the knight in shining armor that she believed he was and Heero would go crazy cause he wouldn't be able to be himself; Relena likes to push her ideas onto people hoping they will see only her way. but heero goes along with those Ideas and Duo does point out that heero loves her. When did he say that? If you are referring to Endless Waltz then you are correct. The ENGLISH version of the film does say "Anything at all for the one you love." But in fact, that quote was butchered. What Duo REALLY says just as Heero is leaving to rescue Relena (Yet again) is "He's so dense," or something along the lines of that. The creators and writers themselves said that Relena was not meant to be in a romantic relationship with Heero, that she was meant to symbolize all that was good about the Earth, its innocence. Pop quiz: who did Heero kill? That's right, innocence in the form of a little girl who looks a hell of a lot like Relena. So for Heero, Mr. No-Regrets-But-I-Regret-s**t-Anyway, Relena eventually becomes this second chance for him, a way to make up for his past mistakes, to atone for killing that child. Everything from the pink, a little girl's colour, to the juvenile crush on Heero was added to Relena's character to help illustrate this

Ah-ha, that's where the problem arises.
The creators never said that they didn't intend Heero and Relena to be a romantic couple.
No, not at all. You know how this rumor got started? Because there's an Animerica interview with Masashi Ikeda, the director of the TV series. What he said wasn't "There is no romance," it was more like "I considered their symbolic relationship more important than any romance, but then again I can't write boy-girl romance anyway." This interview is taken out of context extremely often and misconstrued into an argument in favor of yaoi.
As for the little girl in Endless Waltz - she didn't exist when the series was being made. Therefore, the idea that Heero is only nice to Relena to atone for killing the girl is faulty, since technically he didn't have that motivation. It was retroactively added to the continuity with Endless Waltz, just like how Episode Zero goes back and gives the characters backstories.
EDIT: Regarding Duo's line in EW, I once asked a friend what it meant in the original Japanese, and IIRC he did say that it was basically "Anything for the one you love." It's been a while tho, so I'll check again.

The little girl in EW did infact exist. She was part of Heero's past, from before he went to J and got retrained. The thought of killing an innocence screwed him up enough that J had to retrain him.

What? I've never heard anything like this before. Are you sure you aren't mistaken? Lady Matsu: I'm not denying that the girl exists now, but when Gundam Wing was being made, she didn't. The series was made without knowledge of her, so saying that Heero only thought of Relena as a way of redeeming himself for killing the girl is shaky at best.

In other words, there's no proof that they had the girl in mind when they created the series and Heero's reaction towards Relena, especially because EW came after... is that what you're getting at?
In any case, it's intentionally vague to become a money-making enterprise. That much I can gather up with my excuse for a mind.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I was going for. Their relationship and interaction in the series were written and set in stone before the concept of the little girl and her dog ever popped up.

I think I read that. Wasn't that a parody? It wasn't real... it was under the assumption that the characters were the actors. I thought that site was a hoot. I don't know if that's the site you're getting at? Could you give a link or something?

Duo-chan_in_wonderland Hm....I sense hostility here. I choose to keep my views to myself on this subject *cough*
Good idea. I feel a little out of place as a yaoi fan. . . sweatdrop

Also, I don't know if it's merely coincidence or not, but did anyone else notice that in the English dub, Namless-Little-Girl has the same VA as Relena? eek
Lady_Matsu08 Heero, Mr. No-Regrets-But-I-Regret-s**t-Anyway

he does regret things but he keeps them locked away which fuels his love and his fight. the same passion is shown in both his afair with relena and in how he fights.

English VA"s have no impact whatsoever but Japanese ones do. I get the feeling Yzak in SEED is only around because his Japanese VA is extremely good since he did both Domon (G Gundam) and Sousuke (FMP) Sunegami Lady_Matsu08 Heero, Mr. No-Regrets-But-I-Regret-s**t-Anyway xd I just love that!I love that dimension of Hero's pesonality too but I especially love when he let's his walls down in Ep 48 and asks Relena to believe in him. He trusts her enough to tell her that so it kind of verifies their relationship...

Yes, we mean no hostility, and I'm sure my sig argues the other way. Trust me I like yaoi but there are just days when its fans get out of hand. Sorry if it offends anyone but it is supposed to be a message to the overly obsessed that yaoi will never become a religion or cult.
