Jettrick Ooh so you think they'll use him as 'get out of jail free' card to minimise the disruption having her leave could possibly cause? I do like that idea...after all they've sort of painted themselves into a corner by for once putting the spotlight on the companion...wheras before they could n** off more or less without a problem now they're a whole deal more important to the show's running. Well, Billie Piper has been pretty coy lately about whether or not she's returning for another season. Considering that both Mickey and Jackie are tied to the Rose character, if she was written out entirely it'd be hard to justify keeping them around. So, yeah, I think they've probably seriously considered finding a way to have Rose regenerate should Piper decide to go. And there's so many ways they could contrive a way to do it... Face of Boe's 'secret', or the fact that she mucked about with heart of the TARDIS. Though if they went with something along the lines of the Doctor somehow passing off one of his 3 remaining regenerations to Rose, I'm going to throw a Russel T. Davies voodoo doll into my blender... Vanille Chocolat However, I agree with that it's... too much like some of the stories from the old new series to sit comfortably. >: I mean, more zombies? And what's with the matrix rip-off? AND - MOST IMPORTANTLY - HOW COME THE CAT NUNS HAD OVERLOOKED THE POSSIBILITY OF STUFFING ALL THEIR MEDICINES TOGETHER TO MAKE A SUPER CURE IF IT WAS THAT EASY?! Yeah, it does seem odd that they need to keep using new clones for testing if they've already got cures for all those diseases, unless the cures need to be extracted from the 'plague carriers' themselves. And I still think the way the super cure is transmissible by touch and instantaneously heals on contact is a bit silly. But that's what happens when you have people whose expertise is in writing drama doing science fiction... the 'science' elements sometimes aren't as well thought out as it should be. I personally think the show could do with a solid script editor, along the lines of Robert Holmes (who did the job during Tom Baker's first 3 seasons). In a way RTD reminds me of what some people have said about Douglas Adams... he's got a lot of good ideas and can write some great dialogue, but he could use some improvement in the story narrative department.

I would agree that it was a good story.. not the best, not the worst. I do agree that RTD could do with a scientific advisor - but remember, they have cut down 4 episode stories into one (ok two if you're considering the time element), so you have to appreciate the fast-paced scripts.
But, BILLIE PIPER IS SO DAMNED SEXY AS CASSANDRA!!!! [/drool]

My input is that if you over think any plot too much you'll find plot holes and ruin it for you. Just enjoy it and not think too much. It's why it's called science FICTION not fact, fiction meaning they are making things up loosly based on fact.

the reason the viruses healed so quickly was because they were super cures, the reason they had so many infected people was for one reason because more and more diseases pop up everday so the cat nuns need to test it on a large sum of humans so they can see the affects of every desease on type of human

Neko-cat I'm guessing that they didn't mix them all together because it would be a bit of a waste of the medicines that weren't needed. whee But it would be a cure-all so you wouldn't need them any more? =o

But riddling it out and looking for scientific explainations IS one of the enjoyable bits. xD I wouldn't have thought of the paradox immediately, and I LOVE those things. P:

I suppose your explanation works (although the treatment for the "real" patients, like the Duke of Manhattan, don't seem to be nearly as quick). It is a neverending battle between humans and disease, as the Doctor tells Rose in the beginning of the story. What did everyone think of the Doctor's "If you don't like what I'm saying, tough, because there's no higher authority you can complain to" comment? I was rather surprised by it.

Hairy Priest What did everyone think of the Doctor's "If you don't like what I'm saying, tough, because there's no higher authority you can complain to" comment? I was rather surprised by it. This Doctor likes to talk big? xD I think it was just an intimidation tactic. Then, they didn't know who he was - did they? I should rewatch it, might be able to shoot this theory down - do he could've passed himself off as someone of authority with the pyschic paper... :3 Done it before, why not do it again? Repitition doesn't seem to be an issue with this episode x3; *JOKE*But then, who really has higher authority than a Time Lord? : O It didn't put me out quite as much as the fact he used a sword in The Christmas Invasion. Got so used to seeing Eccleston with only the sonic screwdriver for a weapon and heard somewhere he was so anti-violence x___x... THIS NEW DOCTOR LIKES HIS ACTION. =D Andohmygosh, body-swapping. Didn't mention how great that was. It's like a samba~

In the old days the docotor would have had to answer to the high council...'cept of course those occasions when he was actually running it...but now that he's the last time lord in existence what's to stop his naked ambition running unchecked t and causing him to assume the mantle of a god with the smiting and the vengeance and the harnessing of the temporal vortex for purposes both nefarious and foul? O_o
After all, only like every villain he's ever faced so far this season seems to have noticed how nobody's in charge of him >.>

Well, if the Plague-Zombies's touch brings instant infection and death, then when they're cured, their touch brought healing to the rest of the Zombies. The Doctor simply reversed the process.
Also, Jettrick- The Doctor never went running to the High Council. He has always played the Highest Authority wherever he goes, that's why the Time Lords put him on trial for meddling.

Who knows? Maybe they've decided they want to follow where Season 27 would have gone. Season 26 had hints along the lines of the Doctor not being "just a Time Lord", which the New Adventures also hinted at...

A higher authority than a Time Lord... the White Guardian.
The doctor is more than just a Time Lord... maybe a Guardian??
You can see where I'm getting at here. But I don't think that RTD has the bottle to do that.

Seen the episode, loved it immensly.
"Watch out for the disinfectant!" "What was that?" "The disinfectant!" "What?" "The dis-- Oh, you'll find out..."
For some reason, that seemed to be my favorite part... XD
And I've got to give props to Billie Piper for not laughing like a maniac when Cassandra took over the Doctor. rofl
