Kayne looked over his shoulder again and saw her coming. He looked back at Ra with a sigh. "I have a feeling with this one, there's no telling," he said shaking his head. "Do you know anything at all about archery?"

At this moment, that was what he most anxious about. How was he supposed to be the captain of a sport he had no clue about? He had only signed up to try a sport he'd never explored before. He hated not knowing what was expected of him.

Ra shook his head watching the woman come closer.
"We had a club at my last school but it was ruled by the bullies." He shrugged and stretched his legs out in front of him. "She's definitely up to something though."

He had signed up to archery because it was something he had wanted to try for a while, then meeting Caera and seeing he passion for the sport had made him even more curious about it. This however was the last thing he had expected.

Jess reached the boys with a sense of accomplishment glowing inside. They were talking, first hurdle over and her job made a little easier. If there was one thing she didn't like it was losing.

Jess never missed a target and she never backed down on a task no matter how difficult it proved. She did not rank among the best for nothing.

Reaching the boys she threw them a bottle of water each and smiled a little.
"Right, ladies. Up you get. I'm going to show you the dojo." She grinned, turning towards the ranges and expecting them to follow. "Do you like Bruce Lee movies?" She called back over her shoulder.

Kayne nodded to Ra taking note of his choice of words. He knew what it was like to be on the receiving end of bullies like that and sympathized with him. He caught the bottle she threw at him with one hand, then stood up to follow Jess and he grinned to himself. He figured the difference between himself and Ra, though, was that he learned to fight back. Slipping his hands into his pockets he watched the petite instructor as he slowly started to follow her. Raising an eyebrow, he thought to himself, 'nice a**'. Grinning at his random thought, he listened to her question.

"Yeah... they're alright," he replied, dragging his eyes upward again.

Ra eased himself up from the floor and followed along next to Kayne scuffing his feet slightly on the grass. He was thinking about Kayne's question. What exactly was she playing at?

The way she spoke about archery made it seem like a great responsibility, was it really one she wanted them in charge of. Shrugging to himself he looked up thinking about her question.
"I know Jet Li movies." He said wondering where she was going to go with this line of questioning.

As soon as she knew they were following she picked up her pace a little. So much to do and she didn't want to keep them for too long.
"Ah my dear boy." She said directed at Rashne though her back was still turned. "Before there was Jet Li there was Bruce Lee, god of Kung Fu movies. Unfortunatly he was taken from this world too soon. But he left us with the following wisdom. 'True mastery transcends any particular art.'" She began as they neared the large wooden structure. "It stems from mastery of oneself - the ability, developed through self discipline to be calm, fully aware and completely in tune with oneself. Then and only then, can a person know himself."

As they reached the dojo she fished the keys out of her pocket and unlocked the door. "I want you to think about that." She said facing them. "Now go inside, shoes off before you step on the wooden floor, I'm going to go round and unlock the shutters.

Kayne glanced at Ra as she moved away, then stepped out of his shoes and into the dojo. She wanted them to think about it, he thought walking and looking around. He knew she wasn't talking about the archery. That would be obvious and that didn't seem to be her style. 'True mastery stems from mastery of oneself,' he rolled that around a bit. He looked back at Ra with a slightly puzzled expression. "Did you understand her?" he asked him softly.

Ra slipped his shoes off somewhat shakily and backed onto the shiney wooden floor. He gave Kayne a smirk.
"English is my third language." He said plainly. "So No, not frigging clue." He said looking around the darkened area.

Jess walked round to the front of the dojo smirking to herself. She knew they wouldn't really get what she was on about but it was fun to watch them try.
Unlocking the metal shutter that protected the front of the dojo from the elements she let it slide up, flooding the dojo with light.
Sliding her shoes off she climbed up onto the dojo.

"O.k...This..." She began, gesturing around them. "Is a dojo. do (pronounced doh) means 'way of' and jo is like a place for sports. I am the sensei, or master of this dojo. In here my word is law." She said a grin begining to spread across her face. "So, you say you don't know about archery. Would you like to see how its done?"

Kayne blinked a few times as the sudden light flooded the dojo. He watched her hop up then make a wide sweeping gesture to include the whole building. He quirked his eyebrow up at her proclamation that her word was law. A few smart a** remarks popped into his head, but he bit his tongue. He looked back over at Ra then back to her, crossing his arms across his chest. "Sure," he replied, his voice carrying easily across the acoustic building. He had no doubt that she was proficient in the sport, otherwise the school would not have hired her, but he was curious to see how good she really was.

As the light flooded in Ra narrowed his eyes down the range towards the targets. His first thought was that they were so small. Less than half the size of a western target.
He listened to Jess as she spouted off about the law of the dojo and smirked, wondering if Kayne would accept her word as 'law' as she put it.
"Yeah, I'd be interested to see too." He said looking around the dojo.

If Jess had been in an anime she probably would have clapped her hands and jumped up and down. That would have been girly, one thing Jess wasn't. She instead gave them a small smirk and crossed over to her gear.

She was happy to show off to them, not because she wanted to impress tow teenage boys, but because she wanted to prove her skill. She had spent her entire life being outnumbered by guys and knew exactly hos they thought of women. That they were weak and less capable.

Her back to them she unzipped her sweater and shrugged it off. Underneath she wore a tight, high necked sleeveless top. Perfect for archery. Her tattoo on full display she put the chest guard over her head and the leather finger protector on her right hand, winding the red ribbon around her wrist to fasten it. Grabbing her bow she walked to the edge of the dojo.
"You will notice many differences between Japanese and Western archery." She said standing sideways to face them both. "For example. In Japanese Archery we stand sideways, like this...feet shoulder width apart." She did as she said, taking an arrow from the pot and lifting both it and the bow above her head. Her top raised a little as she did so causing a cold chill to blow across her stomach.

Ignoring it she got the bow and the arrow ready, pulling it back against the string and letting it rest on her hand. "Also the bow is drawn down." She said bringing it down slowly the index finger of her left hand sliding slowly along the shaft of the arrow until it drew level with her cheekbone. Turning her head slightly to face the boys she gave them a friendly wink before closing her eyes and letting the arrow fly.

It landed with a thunk, dead centre on the target.

Slowly Kayne raised one eyebrow as she unzipped her sweater and slipped it off. He watched her closely as she slipped on the gear and picked up a bow. As she stepped to the edge of the dojo, he took a few steps forward so he could see her actions better. He looked up at her and listened closely, absorbing everything she said and did. As she lifted the bow up over her head, both eyebrows rose as he noticed the edge of her shirt rising up to expose bare skin. His sharp grey eyes took in her well toned abs at the small display. Lifting his eyes back up as she drew the arrow back her tattoo caught his eyes next. The intricate blossoms worked their way down her forearm and seemed to flow into the pattern on her bow. He was thoroughly captivated by her grace and elegance. He looked up right as she gave them a wink then shut her eyes. He jumped a little when the arrow was suddenly released and his eyes fell on it right as it landed dead center with a thunk. Impressed couldn't even begin to describe his reaction to the exhibition. His eyes were glued to the arrow and a soft whistle escaped his lips.

Ra also watched carefully focusing his attentions on what she said. He looked at her feet how they were spaced shoulder width apart within the circle of balance like she had mentioned earlier.

As she pulled the bow down he also noticed the tattoo on her arm. It was pretty cool, though he wondered how she was allowed to teach with such a marking. He had always been lead to believe teachers were supposed to set an example and all that said to him was....you should get one.

As the shot was fired his jaw fell open, it didn't even look like she had lined it up with the target.
"Wow." He said his eyes still on the arrow at the end of the range.

From their reactions Jess could tell she had made the shot. Opening her eyes she turned to face them and smirked.
"Exactly." She said returning her bow to the rack and taking the kettle out of the cupboard. "Eight years of blood, sweat and tears. Training sun up till sun down." She shurgged and began to fill the kettle with water. "I suppose you could say it's my life. Which I know is a little sad but it's true."

She looked between the two boys, once again satisfied that her plan was working so well. "So, now we seem to have learned to be civil to each other I can be honest. Take a seat." She said, pointing to the floor as she put the kettle on the stove and lit it. "I'm going to tell you my reasons for my brand of punishment."
