Its great, almost my whole school will be silent... which kinda kills the point, because everyone knows about it xd but its still awsome finally having quiet classes.

A group of us on gaia came up with this as like a flyer, just quote, copy paste or whatever... DAY OF SILENCE

Founded in 1996, the Day of Silence has become the largest single student-led action towards creating safer schools for all, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. From the first-ever Day of Silence at the University of Virginia in 1996, to the organizing efforts in over 1,900 middle schools, high schools, colleges and universities across the country in 2002, its textured history reflects its diversity in both numbers and reach.

Huh... did you know that fanatic groups are promoting the DOS as a day of brainwashing people to the "homosexual agenda". They created the "day of truth" to go tommorow in order to "save people" from our obviously sneaky agenda. *shakes head* oh jeesh this si going overboard. look. http://www.dayoftruth.org/jeese louise

I dont get it.. What are they doing? Taking time in class to throw down their bible crap on everyone?
The DoS isn't something we're forcing on anyone. People conciously make the descision to participate but if they're going around preaching to people, they're once AGAIN shoving their religion down people's throats.
They're going to keep on and I swear to God that one day I will be able do do enough to stop their stupid s**t. Im getting tired of this s**t. stressed

My schools focusing on the DoS as a day to end discrimination, not just for gays and lesbians, but for people of color, women, religous... etc. etc.
Which I thought was a little better.
Turns out one of the other groups who helped promote the GSA had two girls turn in their t-shirts because they were afraid to wear them. They got harrassed so much for the first period of class and as soon as the bell rang turned them back into thier teacher. cry

I'm not against it, or anything like that, but I don't participate in the day of silence. I have my reasons, though. I feel that those that haven't come out yet for fear are denying what they are. You should be proud of who you are, not ashamed! If you think there will be problems presented by coming out, so be it, at least you'll be able to live your life no longer in lies or half-truths!
Then there's the fact that I could never go a whole day without talking.
Or an hour, for that matter. I'm a chatty person.
