"See! I knew it!" she squeaked prouldly. Kari's eyes widened when Amani suggested meeting again the next day, and she nodded enthusiastically, "I'd like that! I bet you know more games than you say, it'd be lots of fun." The cheetah kept an enthusiastic smile despite the time of day, and the need to part for the night. With the promise of seeing her again, why be upset?

Amani reached out and patted Kari's head. The she turned and began to walk away. She paused and looked over her shoulder at her cheetah friend. "Okay, meet here again tomorrow when the sun's highest?" she asked, tilting her head slightly.

Kari giggled and rubbed against Amani's paw when she was pet on the head, grinning as her friend started to walk away.
"Ok! I'll be right here," she called after her, "See you then!"

Amani smiled and waved her tail in farewell. "Until tomorrow, then!" she called. She had no idea that the next morning she would meet a lion from her past and go with him, never to return to the pridelands. She had no idea that she would grow up under the rule of a cruel lion and yet still find love in the lion who had brought her to her misery. She had no idea that he would then rescue her from the life he'd brought her to and go with her to a place where the land reached up into the sky where they could settle down to a new life.
She had no idea that she would probably never see Kari again.
