It almost wasn’t a surprise, when Ida collapsed into Orah. The only other person who Kerberos knew to have done this was Cosmos, after all, and even she had seemed exhausted after.

Still, that didn’t make it any less nerve-wracking, and he very carefully guided her over to lean against his chest, wrapping his arm around her and carefully holding her close.

“You’re alright,” he said, gently. “Rest.” He looked over at the rest of their little gathering. “Looks like we’ll be up here for a little longer.”

Most of his excess energy was gone, passed to support Ida during the purification, but he reached deep inside, scraping at his own reserves. He’d make it home, on whatever he had left—certainly he hadn’t spent near as much as she had. So, he passed over what little he could still find—not much, but enough that he hoped it helped.
