Murikabushi, Dark Mirror Super of Hunger
Action: Feeling like this whole adventure was a mistake, leaving a note for Remarque, and making his exit.

………Well, that didn’t go how Reiki had wanted it to.

Not that he could say it was surprising to watch the feral, codependent teenagers run off to get away from him. Plenty of people in Reiki’s life had had similar reactions to him, and he rather assumed that more people would do so in the future. Censoring himself for the sake of comforting people who weren’t going to like him anyway was not and had never been Reiki’s style. Some people didn’t appreciate that.

Sometimes, people turned out like Faustite, appreciating that quality in Reiki at least for a time, despite how horrible things had seemed between them at first. But honestly, winning over Faustite in any capacity had probably more than used up all of Reiki’s good luck with regard to making any kind of good impression on people by uncompromisingly being himself. Trying (in his way) to extend any kind of goodwill toward Red Vines, even after getting snapped at for no goddamn reason, certainly hadn’t won Reiki any goodwill or extra friends among the Court.

So much for making it seem like he wasn’t in the last leg of preparing things so he could get the Court’s particular Chaos bullshit off his starseed. So much for not leaving on a bad note with the people. Maybe Reiki had a long-a** laundry list of problems with Mirrorspace, and maybe Negaverse Chaos would have been a far kinder thing to happen to him personally, because directly poisoning his starseed could not have possibly wounded him less than ******** smothering it, the way the Mirror’s Chaos had done.

But that didn’t mean he wanted to have bad blood with the people.…… Most of them were not bad people. Even a professional nuisance like Lete wasn’t evil so much as incredibly ******** annoying with no semblance of a clue how to act right around people, and a tendency to make it everybody else’s problem that she didn’t want to deal with how sick her and Leandro’s Meemaw was.

Hanging back by the tea, Reiki watched the others go to have fun with the watermelon launcher game. Part of him wished that he could’ve just been content like they were, and behaved himself in a way that anybody else would ever appreciate, and been normal by any standards other than, like, “Well, relative to pair of codependent feral twelve-year-olds who seem to think that expressing a personal boundary is the same thing as telling Telesto to go ******** himself with a chainsaw……”

As if being normal relative to those two even mattered when apparently, everyone else had decided to enable them instead of asking them to act right around people. Reaching into his subspace for a purple pen and his little pad of paper, Reiki couldn’t help but internally grumble about how maybe he was A ******** Lot, and maybe he always did too much, and maybe part of him did understand, on some level, why some people called him well, you are very much Murasaki’s grandson like that was any kind of insult………but at least he also understood that interpersonal relationships had to be about give and take. Making everyone else put in effort to cater to them and their particular dysfunctions wouldn’t end well for Red Vines and his hypocritical little boyfriend with the big, sparkly, wounded gazelle eyes. It couldn’t end well for them.

At least Reiki owned the fact that he was a b***h instead of acting like he was some perfectly innocent little angel. If the little one in gray (Laon) was gonna be That Girl about holding other people to standards like “Personal boundaries are mean and rude and very not allowed” and “How dare anybody refuse to take my boyfriend’s s**t, even when he’s acting goddamn rabid and lashing out at people for no reason,” then he owed it to himself and everyone around him—especially Red Vines—to just own the fact that he was gonna be That ******** Girl. Being sweet to your boyfriend and a b***h to everyone else made you a b***h, pure and simple, in the same way that sucking up to one’s boss while treating the waitstaff or the cleaning staff like garbage made someone a b***h.

It’s me, hi, I’m the problem, it’s me, Reiki hummed to himself as he wrote down what was on his mind. He wondered if it would offer anybody any comfort to know that he probably wouldn’t fit in any better with White Moon senshi, on the other side of Ida-hime-sama getting this Chaos bullshit off his starseed. Most White Moon senshi, for starters, had a Shoot first, ask questions later attitude about Faustite that Reiki could not join them in holding. Most of them seemed more than slightly allergic to concepts like nuance, subtlety, and situations being more complicated than they first appeared.

But whatever. As long as Reiki got to stop feeling like something inside him was fundamentally broken, he could live with other White Moon senshi disapproving of his life-choices, or hating him, or whatever they wanted to feel about him.

Still………Reiki owed one person at this party a genuine apology.

When he’d shown up tonight, he hadn’t wanted to make a ******** spectacle of himself, or to steal the spotlight instead of giving other people a chance and letting the room breathe. So, while the watermelon game carried on, Reiki hung back by the table to scribble that apology out.

Double-sided note left at Remarque's seat, sheet 1 of 3 / page 1+2 of 5.
Remarque,

Yes, I lied about having allergies, but I’m not sorry for not wanting to tell a room full of strangers “I have an eating disorder & food of unverifiable provenance will absolutely trigger me, I can’t eat this safely.” “Allergies” were supposed to be a socially acceptable lie (impolite to question someone about them, doesn’t make the whole situation About Me when it was supposed to be about everyone, doesn’t uncomfortably over-share & expect people to give a s**t when they don’t even know me like that & one of the people I knew before tonight—Lete—actively despises me because I told her off for attacking a White Moon space senshi & a Cosmos Knight who’d done literally nothing to her).

I *am sorry that everything spiraled from there, but I’m also not sorry for not just letting Wossname in the Red and his boyfriend in the gray talk to me like they were. The way Red reacted was *totally* uncalled for, and Gray *was* being a hypocrite by acting like “I have a perfectly reasonable personal boundary about this game & don’t appreciate being snarled at for voicing it” was somehow “bad manners” on my part but Red snapping at me for, again, voicing a personal boundary & acting like he was going to bite people was something that everyone else was obligated to just accept in the name of “unity” or whatever.

Last I checked, unity isn’t ever accomplished by letting people act feral. If expressing a boundary, even in an admittedly intense way (despite my attempts to be *less* intense, which you may have noticed I am very bad at), is somehow detrimental to group happiness & cohesion, then I feel pretty certain that the same is true of someone else (*not* just Red & Gray) expecting the entire Court to just let them behave like some kind of feral gremlin, even if they do so at the expense of other people (something that, for the record, my abstaining from the croissant game would *not* have been; at most, it could have upset the host, but he didn’t seem to mind so I don’t feel Red & Gray have any justification for acting so

offended on his behalf. I do not plan to apologize to them, since they soundly rejected my previous attempts at doing so (offering Red my croissants, trying to share part of my culture with him by telling him he could come up with a better insult for me than “ugly b***h” & the total non-insult of “off-brand Barbie”—honestly, where even *is* the insult here? “Off-brand *Ken*” would be an insult since not even Ken wants to be Ken, but that’s beside the point, which is that Red is too smart & too perceptive to sell himself short like he did with “ugly b***h”).

I also don’t plan to apologize to Telesto. Like recognizes like & literally the only difference between us as messy bitches who live for drama seems to be that I respect myself too much to go to law school.

But I *am* sorry to you, because you care more about the Court than literally anybody else & I don’t think you would have supported Telesto in organizing this if you hadn’t meant for it to actually succeed in the stated goal of fostering camaraderie & bonds within the Court. Not that I imagine it means anything to you at all, coming from This b***h (me) & especially not after tonight, but the list of other people in the Court who could actually handle even half of the work you do to keep everyone relatively safe is, as far as I’m concerned, only one name long. For the record, the name is Acubens’, not mine; I can’t even handle having no solution to the problem of just being myself & wishing I could be more mass-market appeal instead of being, at best, such an acquired taste that even some people who like me *really* wish they didn’t. There is no reality anywhere in the multiverese where asking me to handle even a fraction of what you do *doesn't* end in complete disaster for everyone involved.

So, I am sorry to you, for unwittingly making your job that much harder tonight, or at least for my own role in that process, since I am *not* the only one who contributed & I *refuse* to pretend it was entirely my fault. If you want to chew me out over it later, you know how to find a b***h. Take care. Get some sleep or something.

—Muri.

P.S. — Anticipating an objection about something like “How can you know we won’t care unless you give us a chance” or “We’re here tonight in camaraderie & fellowship, which means sharing the load & trusting your fellows to care about you or whatever burdens you’re carrying & blah blah kumbayah something something open your heart to the power of friendship which you can only do by disclosing something so personal that half of your blood-related family doesn’t even know about it”?

Yeah, that sounds real nice and all, but do you have any idea how many times I have been accused of lying about my E.D., including by medical/mental health professionals, just because I am six-foot-four & Japanese-American instead of being a five-foot-six sad-eyed white girl named Becky with a body like Kate Moss at the peak of her heroin chic era? Thanks, but DMC or no, I don’t trust like that. Sorry ‘bout it.

When he finished writing up his note, Reiki paused only long enough to tell the senshi in the green (Hydrus), “Thanks for the tea.”

Then, letting everyone else have fun with their watermelons, Reiki folded up the sheets of paper and scribbled REMARQUE on the blank space outside (the backside of the last page out of three). Once he’d deposited them where Remarque had been sitting, Reiki slunk off toward a mirror with his cup of tea in hand, and showed himself out. Back to the City and the real world, where maybe the drama would set him on fire but at least it wouldn’t be some fake b***h bullshit.

Prince Remarque
Action: Playing the game, Talking to Mithra/planning to go grab some food

Remarque accepted Mithra’s water with a nod, and after he’d taken a sip–and when she was done speaking–he’d offered another word of thanks.

Would he be amazed at what a bakery would make? No, not when you threw enough money at them. He just wondered how much this had cost Telesto. He wondered, briefly, how one should review this order. ‘Made just as expected, perfect customer service’ or ‘tasted like toothpaste’.

The bread was good, for what he’d been able to taste, at least.

There was a bit of a strange mood, a cloud that threatened this get-together. Laon and Arawn had slipped away. Murikabushi had done the same.

He’d seen him off to the side but wasn’t entirely sure what he was doing. It didn’t seem appropriate to draw attention and ask, especially when their host was insisting they play a new game. By the time he’d gotten up to play, he’d lost track of him, but it was impossible to tell when an energy signature came or went with so many already here.

Watermelons, though. He wondered what Lenka would think if she were here. She’d probably be good at this. Remarque was competitive, but if he lost at watermelon launching, it wasn’t going to ruin his evening.

He’d down his glass of water but the taste still lingered. While others were playing, he was pretty sure he could slip away and get something from the buffet table. It seemed a waste to have so much untouched, and sitting for too long made him feel uneasy. Pacing would help.

He followed the instructions for the game–lined it up, set it off.

Didn’t hit dead center, but close enough that he could still feel like he did a good job.

Although, he did want to ask Telesto where he came up with ideas for these things. He hoped Mirrorspace could spit out the mess they were making. But for now, it was about having a good time.

Mithra was nearby, so after he’d got his shot in, he wiped his hands off on his side and asked, “You brought something to eat, right? Miss ‘anti-mystery food’. Show me what you brought, I want to hear what’s in it. I’m hoping it’s not mint.”

Hydrus, Super Senshi of the Leviathan
Action: Watching the chaos, sipping tea, pointedly not participating (ie, scowl is playing catch up im so sorry)

He smiled at Muri and nodded his head. "I don't go anywhere without tea, it's sort of a... tradition at this point, I suppose." Hydrus wasn't the sort of person to pry, even if Muri looked like he wanted to GTFO at the earliest convaince. He couldn't really blame him. As he watched their host gather people, he had the distinct impression this was going to be all ice breakers and very weird 'bonding activities'.

Hydrus raised an eyebrow as the man in purple and silver started talking, bringing his tea cup up to hide his expression. He leaned over to Muri, "... I don't usually judge people by their speech, as I tend to be overly formal myself, but this man is... unique," he commented and sipped his tea.

There was no way he was going to pick a ******** croissant.

"Murikabushi has a point. For those newer who do not know me, I am Hydrus, Senshi of the Leviathan, and there is tea on the table for those who would like something hot that isn't coffee," he said with a gentle wave and watched as people started to each the croissants. When Remarque got a toothpaste filled one, Hydrus reaffirmed his desire to simply watch because.

No.

He eyed Laon as he gave Muri grief for not being 'polite', and then Arawn for being something he'd describe a snark. Kami, this is why no one got along here. This is why people tended to lone wolf it, Hydrus included! He sighed, side eyeing the two supers who seemed intent on giving Muri a hard time.

"... I can lace your tea with some vodka if it'll help..." he commented softly as Telesto spoke again. Oh, the ancient man could take suggestions! That was more than some of these senshi...

"I have already introduced myself, but again, I am Sailor Hydrus, Senshi of the Leviathan and my favorite color is, ironically, seafoam green. Also I summon watery leviathans in battle that give people a sense of being in deep water. Do not ask me how I know what it feels like." The hardness in his yellow eyes really tried to impress up on that.

The group started introducing themselves, though the two who hadn't taken well to Muri rightly being annoyed at Telesto for the choice of party games left. Hydrus was not particularly sad to see them go. Teenagers...

As the next event began - watermelon launching? like... shotput? kami what sort of activities does this man do in his normal life?? - Muri thanked him for the tea. He caught the man's sleeve briefly.

"Muri, my tea pot is always available if you need some time to talk, or just a quiet space to be. No matter what," he said softly, fully genuine. "There's a park bench I frequent while on patrol, or just drop me a note."

Then Muri left the party and Hydrus was left watching these poor souls try to chuck watermelons at a target.

Kami...

THE CATCH UP IS REAL please note that Hydrus offered a quiet place with tea for Muri if needs!

Eternal Mithra

Well, this game seems as good as any to load up on food.
Mithra thought to herself as she moved away from her seat and decided to stack a plate. So many were leaving, might as well not let it go to waste. "This watermelon game is uh... interesting. But I'm fine without playing thank you." She said as she watched at least one Senshi try it. Waste of good fruit and seemed a bit silly. If she worked in some corporate office she might consider it quite a few grades above what they had to endure.

She looked at Remarque and smirked. "Would it surprise you to learn I'm not much of a cook? It's a basic boxed pasta salad, though everyone tends to love it. I think it's the powder that gets mixed in. I added grilled chicken though." She said with a nod. "Not very adventurous, but definitely a good side dish." She said before finally deciding that her plate was stacked enough, going back to where she was sitting. She noticed a note for Remarque but had no idea who it was from. She was now too busy digging into all of the delicious food that everyone had brought.

Kyuseisha no Hikari
I have no idea why it says shell pasta on the website when it's clearly rotini

--------------------------------------------------------

Super Bellerophon

Was this something that people in America usually did to get to know each other? Bell was quite confused at the entire situation and decided that he wanted to sample what others had brought, watching whomever decided to go up and try the game. The watermelon could have been used for so much more. Perhaps he could save some later and it could be grown in a garden? They didn't have a garden, but maybe they could have a really small one for just one watermelon. Justice for it's smashed brethren.

He decided that he would eat as much as he could. He rarely ever went to buffets, so he wanted to make the most out of what was basically one, especially with others leaving.

Sailor Telesto
Action: Punching a watermelon, watching the party, and encouraging the remaining folks to talk and enjoy the night.

Telesto stood near the game spot for the moment, watching the crowd. They had begun to get the sense that their choices of entertainment and bond building were perhaps outdated or misguided. They made a mental note to do some more research on the modern day entertainments, they were watching something called marvel a lot these days, maybe that was something... A matter for later though.

They watched as Murikabushi left; where you were used to being the tallest in the room, it was hard to not track the rare person that was almost your height. They didn't comment on it, it wouldn't be much of a camaraderie night if people were forced to remain, and it was something for later.

Remarque took a shot at the game at least, bless him for trying. Telesto would have to work closer with him on the planning next time. They were suspecting their initial thought of camping trip may be a bad direction...

When it appeared others weren't approaching up for the game, Telesto shrugged and stepped up. It had only just now dawned on them the irony of selecting a game in which their own magic was specifically designed against; they were good at keeping things close, not getting them far away. Oh well! They made a quick stance and snapped their foot out, kicking at the watermelon!

It went pretty poorly, almost to the middle ring, but it landed solidly against the outer ring. They apparently needed to do more leg day...

All the same, they turned back to the crowd, smiling. For all the night may have or have not been ideal, they did get to see that the court was full of people willing to try; within reason. People had shown up, which meant there was a place to work from. So long as there weren't a hundred other senshi who didn't show, they would take it as a victory; not a great victory, but a victory nonetheless.

"Thank you all for indulging in my eccentric games and activities, I hope they provided some degree of amusement, if not joy," they said with a laugh. "For those worried about food waste, fear not," they said as they gestured to a newly appeared platter of sliced watermelon, "Waste not, want not."

"Take a moment of respite and to enjoy the great food that everyone has kindly provided. And take solace that before the next gathering, I shall seek out you all for input as to more amenable activities; I will keep at least one of my own, just for a personal touch. Some bonds are formed through us looking back on a shared unique experience, and I trust most of these have been unique."

amorremanet
No worries, it's understandable! Also, hand written letters are such a cool touch!

Legally, Remarque is the winner, unless someone else beats him. So, not too shabby!

Prince Remarque

“It doesn’t surprise me, but I mean no offense. I don’t really like cooking. If I put the time and effort into it,” he shrugged. “I could probably make something worthwhile. Or, I could just pay someone to make me something guaranteed to be better than worthwhile.”

He picked a few things from the table, and even if he didn’t know exactly who brought what, he wasn’t going to be shy about asking.

For Mithra, he served himself a portion of her pasta salad. “I am not surprised to hear that you’ve added grilled chicken, though. Good protein.”

But she took care of herself, she was a fighter.

When he took his seat at the table again, he eyed the card. He set his plate down first and then lifted it, but just as quickly he dismissed it to subspace. He’d make time for it soon. For now, Mithra’s pasta salad, and–

He only needed one bite before he nodded approvingly. “Oh, yes. I can see why it’s popular. It doesn’t need to be adventurous to be popular. We should have get-together's like this more often, I don't think I could get tired of this flavor. Good choice.”

Telesto was considerate not to waste food, but it really wasn’t high on the list of Remarque’s priorities. Tonight was eventful, at least–and he was interested in all of the Dark Mirror Senshi he’d only seen or met in passing. The Court was growing, and for that he was grateful.

Telesto’s effort to create a fun and interesting evening were welcomed, and a the very least, Remarque had a better idea of some of their numbers.

There was still a lot of work to be done, but if they could take a break to play games, or eat food, or just talk…

It was a welcome change from the danger they were usually getting dragged into.

Sailor Telesto
Action: Finally socializing at this party.

As Telesto concluded the planned events of the night, they decided it was time to actually try some of this food the people had brought; like all great party planners, they had neglected to eat anything so far at their own party. They made their way to the buffet, picking a few items from the selection onto a plate. Their memories were still in a bit of disarray from their awakening, leaving most of the food options with a strange sensation of being an entirely foreign dish while also being something they ate all the time. The prolonged staring at the plate made it a minorly off putting event to start eating, so a distraction was welcomed. As their eyes glanced down the rest of the buffet, they found one; hopefully.

"So, what delicacies have you both enjoyed so far from the buffet made by our comrades?" They asked as they stepped over towards Hydrus and Bellerophon.
