Well at this Maternity ward where I will be delivering in any time now has a few options for pain relief. We have epidurals,a giant bathtub, laughing gas and acupuncture. I decided I will try the tub and acupuncture...if that doesn't help me feel better I will eventually get a epidural.

Nopenname I don't remember the epidural hurting at all. I know it probably did, but I don't even remember it having a sting. You know what with the contractions and all. Also I HATED that they made me scooch up onto the top of the stupid a** maternity bed. It's the most rickity thing because you can't put weight on the bottom third because it's a break away for when they pop up the stirips, and I had two IVs and that belly strap fetal heartbeat monitor and the catheter and all the other s**t and they wanted my to climb MID CONTRACTION to the top third of the bed and lean forward to get the epidural. But I don't remember it hurting more than any other shot. I don't have a fear of needles or anything so it was just a regular shot to me. The best thing about labor for me, was actually AFTERWARDS about four hours later at six o' clock in the morning when I finally got to see my daughter. I mean they gave her to me in the delivery room, but She had to go to get checked out because it was unsure whether my water was clear so I mean I didn't even KNOW what she looked like, I remembered holding her for like SECONDS. xd i had all that crap on me as well xp but when they were giving me an epidural the rolled me over to one side. yea some aren't very nice there...like they go through this all the time so they just get tired of being the gentle person that is needed confused they gave me a numbing shot which was great i loved that xp and then the epidural and i didn't feel anything but i was EXTREMELY nervous so i was shaking like mad and they kinda had to hold me down to steady my back sweatdrop xp

I would say the worst part for me was wakeing up with contractions and Synthia being my first and never being around anyone that was pregnant. I had to clue what to expect. I have a very low tolerance for pain and that sucks.
the best part seeing that face that little face that i had been dreaming about my whole life. And the short stay at the hospital, I was there about 24 hours. I was told by a nurse that I was the first one she had met, that could have a baby, then just 2 hours later get up and walk down stairs to have a smoke. .....

Why were you pissed? Those doctors and nurses usually have good medical reasons for bedrest.

The contractions and the labor were the worst part for me...... the crowning of the head all that.... was incomparible to the hours of contractions and lying there waiting for someone to do something about the pain sweatdrop that was just AWFUL for me...
the best part was being able to hold him for the first time ever after he was born.. scrunched up, shades of colors that were bewildering, but beautiful nonetheless!!!

TexasMomma I joged for 20 minutes before I was exsasted. You're lucky you didn't hemmorage. Lochia can get heavier with the amount of activity you do because the wound in your uterus where the placent was attached can reopen. Four days after I was released I bled through my pad because we went walking around Babies R Us for a couple of hours set me back some days in healing. There's a reason they tell you to take it easy. I was also in the hospital for awhile, the day we were due to be discharged (it was 48 hours in Jacksonville) there was only one Pediatrician on staff checking all the babies, and Lis was a bit jaundiced (nearly half of all children have some jaundice so they had to take her and run a test and then come back and get us the test results. I had been officially discharged (they cut off my bracelet at 9:00 am) and we didn't leave until 5:00pm because they didn't discharge Lis until then.

The worst part of labor for me was just the waiting until I could actually start pushing. I advanced so quickly that by the time the staff thought to do a visual check, it was too late for an epidural. ^^; The hour or so when I was just lying on the bed because I couldn't stand up any longer but couldn't push yet was just hell. I have confidence that I can endure just about anything else now. *laugh*
The actual pushing was cake and pie...maybe I was just numb after all that waiting.
The best part was having the baby finally handed to me. *melts*

man the worst part of labor was when i got the epidural. i had made up my mind previously that i wouldn't get it, but i was very pressured (and i knew i would be) by my mom, the daddy, and the freaking nurse. labor was so easy up until then, i really don't know why i got it. it didn't really get better after that because it had made my entire leg go numb. i cried for like half an hour after getting it done because it was so scary. next time if anyone tries to pressure me to get an epidural i'm STABBING them.
other than that and the fact that i was on magnesium sulfate.
and that my mom missed the actual birth.
and well... a lot of things sucked really bad.... lets see whats good....
the best part was the end when i got to see the baby.

Zoe coming just in the nick of time to avoid a c-section was the best part of labor and delivery. I also was happy to finally get to push, even though pushing did end up lasting an hour and a half. The worst part of labor was the never-ending (or so it seemed) transition. I think I was in transition for about 3.5-4 hours because Zoe was posterior and everything was progressing so slowly. I made it through though, and Zoe is as healthy as can be! ^_^

Worst part? Erm..being used as a guinea pig for a teaching hospital unknown to me till after everything snowballed.
Best part...is there anything better than holding them for the first time? That sweet baby grunt? That tiny little hand? Ahh memories. Almost enough to make me want another...um...never mind...they grow up and become whiney toddlers xd

Krystlanna Three words Ring of Fire... passing the widest part of the baby's head. Oh my god... YES... even with a bloody epidural, OUCH. I was partly induced, water broke naturally, but I didnt progress past 3cm without Pitocin (evil >.<) 15 hours of labors, and I got to watch my hubby cry seeing our son for the first time. (the best part)
