Hylonome, Corrupt Senshi of Edelweiss

It was evening. Hylonome had only learned of this orientation for the newly inducted days prior to the date it was supposed to happen on after overhearing Prehnite, or was it Reed, reciting his notes on his talking points for his aspect of the presentation. Maybe it had been a known date to everyone else but the young woman was still dealing with the ordeal of having woken up on a battle field with no idea on why she had been there in the first place. So after learning of the event from the one who had apparently saved her from further injuries, Hylonome had agreed to attend. It was, unfortunately, still too early for the senshi of edelweiss to form any opinions in regards to the new organization in which she found herself. The situation had been unique in her case, or so she had been informed, in how she had come to lose her memories during the battle. Going to the orientation would at least fill in the gaps in her current empty state as she was.

As those that had been able to attend entered into the large auditorium Hylonome took one look at the cavernous room before turning what would be hopefully her undivided attention to the stage and the lectern that stood quite conspicuously stage center. It was from this position that the presenters would go over their topics and shortly after she had taken her seat did the presentations begin. At first Hylonome wasn't even sure that the general who opened the orientation was in fact completely human. There was something just off enough that allowed her to remain alert enough to listen to what points he was going over. Hylonome tried to pay attention she truly did. But sitting for long periods of time listening to people speak wasn't her strong suit. Grabbing the strange silver and purple pen that had been left in her room the corrupt senshi extended the device so that the screen was visible and found the controls that would allow her to record the rest of the presenters. Was this technically cheating: recording the presentation instead of sitting through it live as it happened? She sat far enough from the stage that no one would be able to really tell that she had nodded off. Weariness still tugged at her body from the night of the battle. It felt like she carried around an invisible set of weights that were constantly dragging her down. The atmosphere of the room was charged with various levels of quiet conversation and the senshi blearily pointed the tablet screen towards the center of the stage and the lectern before letting her eyes drift close. Even if she dozed off during the rest of the presentations she would still have the recording to fall back on. It seemed like it was a workable plan. Rest and her tablet would immortalize everything that she had missed as the need to rest and recharge over took her more common sensibilities.

There were a few moments in which Hylonome found herself sitting upright in her chair but most of the remaining times it fell to her tablet to record what subjects she was missing.

That would have been great - if only Hylonome had known in which direction to have her tablet pointing for the recording. After the presentation had ended and she had spoken to Prehnite at least, the senshi had been escorted home. It was once she had settled in for the evening that she activated the tablet and pulled up the recording of the orientation. Only then was it discovered her folly in relying on technology that she was still getting acclimated to. All that was playing on the screen was video of her sleeping, slumped over in her chair. The audio allowed Hylonome to at least hear what she had missed from the presenters but there was no idea on what it was that her eyes should have been seeing at the time. That unfortunately, like her memories of her old civilian life ... were dust in the wind.

(( so I finally get around to doing this. ))
