"Ah, so you're slightly like me." Teased Quiana quietly. "Matori is your encampment, but at least you had the option of traveling." She mused before nodding at all of the encouragement. "It looks like it worked out for you in the end - traveling that is. Perhaps I will do the same now that my kind are opening up more to the world." She studied her fingers thoughtfully as if she could foretell the future somehow on each fingertip. Was her mother still out there enjoying all of the things in life or had her travels not gone as well? Slowly but surely a thought was forming at the back of Quiana's mind, her interest growing the more she thought about the Matori's words and the snippets of information she was sharing about the mainland. Could she truly travel one day? Maybe she would be able to find the answers she was missing this whole time. A small smile played at Quiana's lips before she glanced towards the outside to watch the heavy rains. "I can only imagine how other earthlings would react if you showed up with an Elidae on your boat." She suggested with a chuckle. Only the great trees would know how that decision would work out if Quiana even dared to try to leave her homeland.

"Mmm. Maybe so." She smiled back. "Really, I don't think you'd need to worry about anything. I haven't heard too much about your particular people but a lot is already known about the alkidike and Elarians. So while people I think would be intrigued to see you I don't think they'd be hostile. As long as you don't start spouting anti-earthling, anti-hybrid propaganda at them that is." Devika said with a laugh. It was true, she thought. "I feel like people are a lot more open minded to things now a days than they were at least in my childhood. Things have changed a lot since then..." She mused.

A laugh escaped Quiana's lips. "Careful about that request around this area." She teased though she knew that a lot of the Elaria and Extremists had been the reason for her family to move to this island there were still some that did think very little of earthlings unfortunately. So far Quiana hadn't felt any hostility from other Elidae towards earthlings, just a slight bias that perhaps they were inferior and needed protecting unlike their Aishan cousins. Though all of the stories about the mainland, at least from her grandmother, always described beautiful landscapes and Quiana was curious about what they were truly like. "I suppose our kind never truly got along well, right? I only heard some stories from the older Elaria that came over since there's not many Alkidikes with us. My own grandmother isn't very keen on talking about the past she left behind either." Admitted Quiana with a slight sigh. Shouldn't they be learning from the past instead of ignoring it? She could only imagine all of the fighting that surely must have happened to chase the Extremists from the mainland to Zinros and then for them to even divide with some coming here.

Devika thought about that for a moment. "In truth, I have limited knowledge on this subject as the Obans and Matorians didn't find the way into the rest of Tendaji for awhile from what I understand of everyone's histories. But, from my limited knowledge, no, it's not that the two peoples never got along. I'd like to think that in the past they did, maybe not like best friends but not always fighting. I'm sure there was an instance or two that started the whole anti-earthling, anti-hybrid sentiments. Yet I feel like it had likely been acknowledged and then left to fester until the extremists felt what they did and led to the expulsion of them from the mainland. But, I have neither personal history or visited with too many alkidikes or alkidike hybrids to know their side of it." She shrugged. What she knew she had read from books, and she knew when it came to history that books only told half the story, and usually from the victor's point of view.

"Hmm. That's an interesting perspective." Replied Quiana after a moment. "Maybe at one point our ancestors did truly get along but I suppose we'll never know unless somehow we discover ancient texts or something." A disappointed sigh left her lips at the realization of how much history had surely been lost over the centuries. Even their mystics surely couldn't know everything that had happened in this world, right? Quiana stretched her legs out and pressed her back against the wall so that she could stretch her cramping body. "Well at least I know that I don't usually allow others to control my own thoughts and feelings. I much rather enjoy experiencing things for myself before making a decision else we wouldn't be in this small cave together." She stated with a grin towards Devika. It would have been a shame to miss out on such a chance meeting because of someone else's biased opinions.

Devi nodded her head. "That's true. Besides, what is done is done. You can either learn from it or make the same mistakes." She shrugged before laughing. "And that's a very good thing. I rather like living." And she might not have made it out of that storm if it hadn't been for Quiana. "I'm very thankful for that. And truthfully, I'm glad to of met you, Quiana. Not only because you saved my life, but it's nice to meet someone with such a different upbringing." She smiled honestly at her new friend, or at least she considered her a friend now.

A small smile crossed Quiana's lips as she nodded in agreement. "I am a rather curious one so I have been enjoying this." She admitted in return before pondering a few more thoughts. "So you're with a group that's traveling...are they staying in the area for long? Should I hope to see you again once this storm finishes?" She had a few thoughts lingering from their discussion and perhaps there was the faintest idea bothering her. Surely her grandmother would protest if Quiana did want to travel but why not ask the earthlings about their plans before letting this rare chance simply slip away?

"Hmm, I'm not sure to be honest. I'm not really the one calling the shots in this group but I don't figure we'd travel if more storms are expected." She looked out of the cave and saw how bad it looked still. "Are you sure you'd want to see me again after this? I mean, first meeting in a terrible storm and almost get killed by the rockslide and everything." Her voice held a note of seriousness but her eyes sparkled with humor. She wouldn't mind meeting with Quiana again if they were still going to be in the area for a couple of more days.

"I wouldn't have it any other way." Quiana grinned at the playful tease. "It would be boring otherwise, no?" Despite her typically more lazy behavior the Elidae thrived on interesting situations like these. Hunts and the like were repetitive in her opinion and too much effort, but this? She was still feeling the adrenaline from swimming in raging waters and dodging the dangers that the storm had thrust at them. It was nice in a way to know that her presence had helped someone out, not that she would openly admit such a fact. It definitely was an eye opening experience for Quiana and she found herself smiling more so than usual. "It sounds like the storm is weakening so surely you'll be able to return soon. I do hope that you linger a bit so that we can meet up again, Devika. Who knows? Maybe I'll consider asking your shot caller if they need an extra pair of hands during the trip." Her grandmother and the others surely would have a conniption but who would it hurt if they didn't find out? Quiana's gaze gleamed at the thought as she glanced at Devika with a smile before looking back towards the rain once more.

That caused Devika to laugh. "I suppose so. I think you'll find, though, that most places have openings for skilled hands or those willing to pitch in." Sometimes the problem tended to be people either asking for help or asking if they could help and that could be defeated if just one person pulled their courage together to ask. The thought of Quiana traveling with them sounded nice. She seemed like a nice person, though admittedly, Devika didn't know much about her. If you didn't give people a chance then how would you ever know anything about them? Sometimes you just had to take that leap. "I'll find out how long we plan to be in the area and if I'm able I'll try and make my way towards this direction again, of course being sure to steer clear of the Aishan camp." She said with a small smile. It did seem like the storm was fading, for that she was grateful. It would just be a slow and hopefully uneventful trip back to the camp!
