Maybe it was his wording or his manner of speaking that made Justine crack a smile. "De was correct in saying you are a bit of an oddball." To his side, Delilah only offered a shrug. She wasn't lying when she said that after all. "She also told me that you have a fight tomorrow evening. Once that is over and you have licked your wounds, come by and bring your portfolio. I think I owe you the time to review it with you and see what can be done." "De. Mathias." She nodded to them both. "May you both have a good evening." As she turned to head back to her staff, she stopped a moment and glanced back. "And De, you need to tell me how that evening went with the young man from before." "Horrible." Delilah scoffed, crossing her arms as Justine laughed, shaking her head and waving them good bye.

"Yes ma'am," He said, in that way that you knew it was a built in, polite, respectful response hammered into him either by southern living or military upbringing. "Will do, have a good evening." Her second statement made him c**k a brow at Delilah. This was news, he'd never really known his cousin to go on dates - not that this date sounded like it had gone particularly well. As the older woman laughed at his cousin's reply he snorted and shook his head. "Alright, kiddo, let's go," He said, offering her is arm as any polite gentlemen would. "Wanna tell me about this date?"

"Only if you want to hear about how to not impress a person on the first date." Delilah groaned, slipping her arm around his almost out of habit as they walked. "Mind you I only agreed to it because he got someone to ask for him..." Her eyes glanced over her shoulder at Justine's back before looking forward. "I will never get why everyone wants the return favor to be setting me up on a date..." "But, at least I can tell you artist is most likely off my list of interest. Showed up looking like he went rolling through your studio and spent the entire evening talking about himself."

He laughed - a soft rueful one - he knew the type, and sadly they tended to be the majority that made it "big." Something about being able to sling around an ego supposedly helping - but Mathias always found that a mild amount of humility was becoming an artist - at least one of his caliber at any rate. Besides, now days it was about artificial scarcity anyway - almost anyone could paint something and make it a print on the internet. Rich people liked RARE things. "I see dressing to impress was not on his list," He said with a chuckle. "And a sorry conversationalist too - no wonder he needed someone to ask for him." That had been a waste of a favor - that was for sure. "You need a good PR man," He said with a smirk. "Or someone who can keep up with you and be your PA."

"Oh do I?" Delilah cocked him a brow, leaning her head to the side slightly as she sized up his words. "And I suppose you have just the man in mind?" This was starting to become a game to so many. She was pretty sure half the family now had bets on who would find her a match given that she clearly wasn't trying. If it wasn't for the few times she had selected someone herself, Delilah was sure the rumors of her being a lesbian or asexual would have had more fuel. Not that she hadn't sat back and long considered every option only to come to the conclusion that maybe love wasn't in the cards for her. After all, she was a very busy woman. "As someone who knows me, and I mean the real me, I would just love to see what you thought would make me happy."

"Oh God no," Mathias laughed shaking his head. "There is nobody in my current social circle that would pass muster." Her next words though made him think for a moment, and as they walked toward the front door it was obvious he was actually putting in real thought in this - not treating it like the playful banter it had started as. "If I do somehow find Prince Charming," He said finally, turning to give her a half-serious look. "I'll be sure to hook you two up. But, honestly? Whoever you do end up with is going to need to be able to peel you away from work at a minimum." Then he shrugged. "Other than that - well, as long as he treats you well and is willing to fight for your honor he'll be A+ in my book."

It caught her off guard just a touch to see him clearly thinking about this as more than just in jest. With a brow cocked, she watched him closely, only looking away when he finally glanced at her, speaking in that more brotherly tone. "You sound like Dad." She muttered, letting of a sigh because he was right. "Sadly, I stopped believing in Prince Charming around age six when I realized how silly the idea of falling in love and marrying someone at sixteen was." Thank you Disney for unreal expectations of life. "Now before this becomes a lecture on plenty of fish in the sea, don't you have a match to be starving yourself for?"

"Ugh," Mathias snorted and shook his head. "I'd rather you not remind me, but yes, I will have to go rough that one out, but I'll be fine." Honestly all he wanted right now was a steak and a beer and he could have neither. "Walk you to your car?" He asked her gently. "And no, I'm not going to lecture you about Plenty of Fish - you're still Tindr material."

Turning with her free hand, Delilah smacked Mathias hard against his chest. Sure it might have hurt her hand more than him but that was beside the point. It was an attempt to be annoyed as she glared up, pulling her other arm free all while trying to not crack up laughing. She failed. "You are such a..." the laughter did nothing to add to her amused annoyance as she threw both her hands up. "I swear, keep this up and I'm creating an account for you on Christian Mingle." Threat? Not really. More like a long tease because a strict Christian would not tolerate the man in front of her. "Or at least on Grindr."

"Look if you put me on Grindr I'll take all the free dinners I can get," Mathias smirked. "They're going to be very disappointed when I don't put out though - but hey, nobody's obligated to get any on the first date." As for Christian Mingle that earned her an honest cringe and wince from him. Because, yeah-no, no honest born again Christian would spend more than five minutes in his presence before stalking off in a huff or spontaneously combusting. He was a VERY bad Catholic and he knew it. "But, all the same, moot points all around," He smirked. "I'll text you the results of the fight if I can still feel my hands tomorrow."

"Fatty." She teased, poking him in his very much six-pack abs (maybe eight at this point) before shaking her head. "You would be lucky to get asked out to dinner by anyone." Though at the mention of dinner, she cocked one brow thinking back to the teal haired woman from the previous week, wondering if he had figured it out yet. Given she hadn't heard rumors of him courting, bets were on Miss Imara Mason still escaping his claws. "Keep me posted if you see any of my sisters as well afterward. Or if I need to send someone to pick your dead body off the ground." It earned a smile. "But in all seriousness, Good Luck and stay alive."

"I'll let you know," He chuckled with a nod, doing his best to keep his abs firm against the jab. "I won't die, I know the other guy, I'm likely to win but it'll be close I think." No, no luck with Miss Mason - not yet anyway. But he also wasn't going to try and stalk her. He'd been following her blog... and her new imitative with the city - fairly closely. He wasn't going to square peg a round hole - if an opportunity presented itself he'd go for it, but otherwise he would let the world be as it would be. "But thank you," He grinned. "I'll take all the luck I can get."

"All the more reason to be careful. If you two know each other..." She gave him a careful look, stepped forward, and offered him a quick, tight hug. "Kick his a**." She whispered mid-hug, squeezing him one more time before letting go. "I'll buy you a beer next time." She stepped back, walking backwards for a moment as she gave him one last smile, turned and headed for her car. It had been a long day and she had a bottle of wine with her name on it in the fridge.

"Will do kiddo, will do," Mathias assured her, giving her a careful squeeze before she could escape, but letting her slip out of his grip and head toward her car with a wave.
He had his own car to get to, and a bed to lay face first down in until the next day when he would have to face the music and get in on the fight.
Here was hoping it'd be another for the win column.
