With Ryuu gone the room suddenly seemed larger, and Masae felt very much alone. Shifting slightly, once more he smoothed the silk of his kimono over his knees and smiled at Ran.
"What is it you would like to discuss with me?" Masae asked politely hoping this was not where she would lay into him.

Ran was silent for a minute, a finger still tracing the rim of the cup, a simple smile widening on his face. This was probably creeping out the poor haka but Ran was only in thought. He finally dropped his head, pushing the tea cup aside. "Now Ametani-san. I don't want to scare you off with what I'm about to tell you, it is only a warning. Not even a warning, just information that will help in the future. You see Enju has had a rough past. You've probably wondered why I've declined so many requests for him. It's not because he can fight or plant, it's because I promised he could choose someone himself," he paused, lips in a thin line as he thought of how to word himself correctly.

"You may think that it's unusual but I have my reasons. I'm probably confusing you. Let me just put it bluntly: when Enju was younger, his father was extremely cynical and abusive of him. I won' go into detail but basically, Enju has a...I could say split personality but I'm not sure, but this problem is thanks to his father. He's...an angry soul when he's like that and has little repsect for anything, has a foul mouth. He usually gets like that when he's forced into a tense situation," he muttered, fingers drumming the table, a weak smile on his face. "What I'm trying to say is that his great skills balance out with his major flaws, that being his strange inability to control his temper and tounge sometimes."

Ran was sure he had talked enough and had probably overwhelmed the haka for sure. Ran wasn't trying to scare him, but he wasn't going to sugar coat any little aspects of Enju that might come up in their future. "My point is that he's going to be a handful and he'll need a lot of keeping after, but he'll give you want you want. Besides, he's not like that all the time."

( : D translated = Enju has daddy issues )

Masae listened to Ran carefully. The story of abuse was one Masae knew well himself. Not from his father exactly, but not far removed.
"I understand." Masae said with a little more sincerity than he granted most people. Only now he was faced with a dilemma. Had he been any other Haka, like Ryuu for instance. He would be in no doubt that his own prescence and temper could keep Enju's other side in check. Masae however was different. He did not deal well with Gehaka at the best of times, and one prone to violence and bad tempers. he was not sure if he would be able to keep control in such a situation. Looking up he met Ran's eyes with understanding.
"If I may ask Arehoudai-san. What kind of 'tense situation' are you talking about here?" He took a breath. "I mean, how can I best avoid aggravating his situation."

Any sensible haka would probably have backed down by now. Not Masae. Once he set his mind on a goal he would achive it not matter what. Besides as coldhearted as he could be he felt a little empathy with Enju. Brushing him aside would do nothing to help his problems.

Ran resumed staring blankly at the Haka, listening to his question. The answer was simple really. Once in that state of mind, he was usually unreasonable, angry and ranting and raving about how wrong the world is. Something the sweet Gehaka would never do normally with his passively charming attitude. Ran narrows his eyes, looking at his kimono and back at Masae.

"His point when acting out like that is to fight. In a sense, that's what he likes to do when he's shifts personalities. The one thing you can do is beat him down and keep cold and collected. He wants a reaction, anything, and what you don't have to worry about is getting hurt. He'd never harm a haka on his own will. Ever," he muttered, emphasizng the past point bluntly.

"But still, Enju chose you for a reason and I believe he will be better with you. He's a good judge of character even if he isn't very good himself," he smirked after; he had made a joke, finally clearing the tension in the air. Now that was Enju's smile.

Once Ran had finished speaking Masae stared into what was left of his tea. Deep in thought. He was silent for a few moments before a slight smirk replaced his concerned expression.
"The possibly we are a match well met." He gave a small laugh in response to Ran's joke. "I stand for no nonsense. I rarely retaliate and I certainly do not bow to it." This was mostly true. Masae often threw such tantrums himself, but other people's bored him. If the way to keep Enju's temper was to be cold. Than Masae could surely handle things. He was one of the coldest people he knew.

Placing the cup on the table Masae once again folded his hands in his lap, inspecting his long black fingernails as he spoke.
"You need not worry about your son's well being Arehoudai-san. He will be well treated. I thank you for bestowing this information on me. I admit if it had come as a suprise I would have been more than a little put off." He shrugged and looked up at Ran. "However, we all have our problems. This one I shall deal with as and when I need to." Taking a deep breath, Masae hoped Ryuu was behaving himself, wherever he was. "Now. Are there any questions you might have for me?"

Ran was sure this Masae character, even knowing so little about him, had something that had made Enju actually eager to bond with him. Ran licked his lips, letting his gaze rest on a flower in the corner of room. It was just blossoming, a deep red color with a pale white stem. Ran's own personal hybrid of two flowers. So different yet they had formed a completely perfect new flower. Ran grinned, eyes wandering, at Masae's answer to the problem. Ran had a feeling that Ametani would be able to handle himself, it was something he radiated and that Ran could feel.

"I'm glad then for you both. Mm, no. I don't, I'm confident in you that you can handle and care for him, and he'll do the same for you," he mumbled, winding a strand of black hair around his finger, a smirk spreading on his face. "Just so you know, even if you hadn't agreed to those terms, I still would have let you take Enju. He proved to me that he really wanted you. You can ask him about it later, I suppose," he said, Ran sneering at the little secret he knew. He rose finally, pulling out the band that was holidng his hair up, and let his hair cascade around him.

"Now, will you be taking your husband today?"

Ryuu sighed heavily and stared out at the garden. He was about to comment on the beauty of it when he noticed Enju's very obvious reaction to his mention of Ametani. Rolling his eyes he glanced back over his shoulder. "Well Enju it's a pleasure to meet you. Now, I'd very much like to see this garden of yours."

Ryuu was sure that there were a million thoughts running through Enju's head, but he didn't care about any of those at the moment. Masae was his most beloved friend and he wasn't about to let just anyone become his husband...but then it occured to him that Enju probably wasn't going to just stop worrying. Stopping, he sighed again and turned to Enju; how he hated having to comfort gehaka, let alone be nice to them. "Enju, stop wallowing in misery and worry. It's annoying." He suppressed a shiver. "I'm going to tell you something that you should hold onto for the rest of your life. Ametani-san, always gets what he wants...Take that how you will." Letting a small smile show through Ryuu faced back out towards the garden. "Now, how about these gardens."

Masae's fear of Ran had long since dissolved. Not that he was scared of him so much, more worried that he would let his own short temper ruin what was a simple procedure.
Masae almost laughed out loud when Ran suggested he would have "let" him take Enju for his own. That Enju had 'wanted' him. As if he would have had a choice in the matter once it came down to it. Displaying his amusement as a smirk he once again looked down at his simple yet expensive kimono.

Recovering from his amusement he looked back up. "I do believe three days is the standard term of engagement." He said, his expression blank once more. He half wondered what Enju had said to his mother. "Today I will give him the first bracer. Then the marriage will take place in three days."

Masae regarded the strange haka, so relaxed and unfussed about appearence. It was all rather bizzare. Giving a sigh, Masae also stood. Slow and elegant as always.

Enju wasn't as worried as he looked, his face usually exaggerated whatever emotion he was feeling. He nodded and took a step forward, wondering where he should escort the haka first. His ears pinned back as Ryuu spoke, a crisp smirk coming to his face. He nodded and began walking once more, wings folding closed as he strolled into the east part of the gardens. "These gardens are my pride and joy. I have almost every kind of garden there is."

-

Ran sneered at the haka, completely sensing the amusement at his previous statement. He folded his arms across his chest, rubbing his arm and opening up the screen doors again. "Alright, that sounds fine," he muttered roughly, a serene smile on his face. His lacksadaisical appearance was balanced by his rather expensive surroundings and clothing. It was an interesting scale at which his appearance and status was weighed. He wondered if Masae was only appearance, or if he too, had any sort of secrets.

As he stepped through the doorway Masae realised how much Ran irritated him. Not for any particular reason. Just because he was so unreadable. He seemed perfectly pleasant, polite and respectable. Yet there was something about him that made Masae uneasy. He couldn't put his finger on what though.

He waited for Ran in the hallway, hoping that he would be taken to Enju and they could get this whole stressfull business out the way. He couldn't wait to get home, soak in the deep warm bath and spend a quiet evening with sake and amusing conversation with Ryuu.

Ryuu peeked out the corner of his eye at Enju and smirked as he lifted the front of his teal kimono so he could step forward. "Every type you say? Well...orchids have always been my favourite..." He spoke softly, his husky voice wrapping itself around his words like a snake around its prety. With an attractive gehaka such as Enju Ryuu would normally be flirting like mad, laying on the charm extra thick, but this was one he would steer clear of. Enju was Masae's.

Stifling a laugh Ryuu walked a little ahead of Enju then glanced back at Enju, his coy smile peeking out from under the parasol. "So...you tend flowers by day, and....fight...by night?" While Enju wasn't as big as Mori it was obvious he was a fighter, but what an interesting characteristic for someone would tended so lovingly to flowers...

Ran followed Masae, leaving the doors open as he began to walk towards where he knew Enju would be. His arms were crossed across his chest, strolling down the paved path. His disposition, while strange, was his real self. Like all people, experiences in his life had crafted and molded him into the person he was today. A silver tounged, sly, mischevious haka. And he let anyone who wanted, know that.

---

Enju looked over this flowers as they walked down the petite path. "Yes, every type. And a few special ones I made myself," he mumbled, not really paying attention to the haka, more interested in his plants. He though the haka beautiful, but there was rarely one who wasn't these days. His wings loosened as he entered the orchid garden, ears swiveling to here the haka behind him. He paused, turning to look at the haka, eyes narrowed as a large grin danced on his face.

"That's about right."

Masae followed Ran's deishevled form to the gardens. They truely were beautiful, as many flowers as Masae could imagine planted in wonderful arrangements. He smiled as he reached fo his fan, tucked as always in his obi.
He had been sharing Ryuu's shade on the way here and once again he was concerned for his delicate skin. Sun burn was so low class.

He breathed in deeply, enjoying the powerful aroma of the gardens. Once more he felt calm and at ease. Shielding his eyes with the fan he spotted Ryuu down the end of the garden with Enju. Amongst the Orchids. A smirk formed on his lips. At least they would have something in common.
"I must commend you on these gardens Arehoudai-san. They are truely beautiful." He smiled, prefering basic conversation to uncomfortable silence.

Ryuu gazed up at Enju, tilting his head to the side he contemplated for a moment. "Interesting..." A fighter no doubt would be very useful to Masae, but nonetheless Ryuu was very cautious when it came to them. He abhored violence...

Gliding up beside the gehaka Ryuu gazed over the orchids. If there was one thing Ryuu knew well, besides home decor, and pleasures of the flesh, it was flowers. He'd always admired them, their exquisite beauty formed so naturally. "A few special ones..." His interest was peaked. "May I see them?"

So far Ryuu liked Enju, he seemed mild mannered, and at ease; someone who knew his place, which was good in Ryuu's opinion. The real question now was how would he take to living with Yoshi, and Mori...Ryuu's first and second husbands. Time would tell.

----------

Finally seeing he was needed, Yoshi stepped out of the shadows carrying a parasol. Quickly he strode past Ran, and caught up to Masae. He was wearing a simple outfit, a radiant orange, with a stylish forest green trim. Perhaps some would consider it flashy for a gehaka, but then Yoshi wasn't just any gehaka.

In one fluid motion, he had the parasol open and hovering above Masae, blocking the sun. "Pardon my tardiness. Would you like me to hold the parasol for you? or do you wish to carry it yourself?" Yoshi spoke directly, then leaned forward ever so slightly and whispered in Masae's ear. "I also have the bracers, whenever you should need to make use of them." Lightly he patted a hidden pocket cleverly sewn into his outfit. Leaning back he nodded to Masae, a smile upon his face.

Enju had knelt down to move away some fallen petals. The gardens were very primped and well kept, not a single leaf or petal or stem on the ground. Gehaka were working around the gardens, doing little tasks while some swept up the dust off the walk ways. Enju rubbed the petals in his hands, burying the matter into the dirt besides the flowers.

He stood and sniffed his wrist, smiling a bit at the scent. "Some of the most fragrant orchids here. Just touch them and they'll be on you for days." He smirked and began strolling over to his own flower creations. There was a row of four flowers, two different pairs. He bent down and motioned to one. The flower and its smaller sibling had only two white flowers, resembling drooping wings, with a many red filaments crowning it. The other pair had a single fan of petals, fading from blue to yellow at the tips.

"These are of the ones that I've made, crossed many orchids to get them."

---

"Mm, thanks you, Ametani-san, they're my pride. Or at least half of it."

Ran had tucked his hands into his sleeves, not bothering with a parasol or fan. The haka was tanned nicely, his skin sun kissed and radiant as pale as it was. He eyed the Gehaka passing him and raised a quizical eyebrow. He licked his lips, stopping under the tree and looking over his gehaka with a lazy gaze.
