Solo - Hunter/Stage 3 - WC 604 (2pts)
The evening had turned to night and after Ming’we had put her son to bed she walked out into the main room of their home. There she saw Zenith sitting with a grin on his face. He held a glass of wine out for her and she moved over to take it from him.
“Why are you smiling?” She questioned him as she moved to find her own place to sit down.
“No reason.” The ice male stated as he watched her. When she was fully sitting down he made a bit of a thoughtful sound and leaned back in his own seat. “You seem to have everything under control as far as Huang’we is concerned.”
Ming lifted her glass and took a sip from it as she eyed Zenith with a careful eye. When he mentioned that she had things under control she let her gaze go toward the short hallways she’d just left. When it came to her son she did feel that she had things in hand. Of course it helped that her little boy wasn’t that large of a handful. As she gave her attention back to her partner she made a thoughtful sound, more like a hum
“Do you think that you’d ever be ready for another one?” Zenith didn’t want to keep dragging it out so he figured he’d just ask her outright. If she was ready then he’d be willing to try for another. He enjoyed spending time with his son and would very much like to have another, or even a daughter.
Ming’we felt her brows raise into her hairline. “Excuse me?” Had she heard him right just then? He’d asked if she wanted another? While it was true that Huang’we wasn’t trouble she wasn’t so sure she wanted to have another. Then again, she missed the days when he was small enough to fit snugly in her arms. Her son was growing up.
She brought her cup up to her lips again, though this time she paused so that she could think. With the rim touching her lips she gazed at the hallway. Just around the corner was her son’s room. They didn’t have more than three rooms in the house. So if they had another there would be no room for anything or anyone else. Slowly she lifted her glass of wine up and when the liquid hit her lips she took a slow, calculated sip.
“It was just a thought, Ming.” Zenith said. He’d been watching her the whole time. He knew that she was closed off from a lot of things. And while he had managed to get closer than most he still wasn’t fully let in.
“Hm, I know.” She gave a zombied reply. He could hear it in her tone. It was automatic rather than thought out.
Ming pulled her glass away and looked at it. “I will think about it. Huang’we is still little. I would hate to take our attention away from him simply because we got greedy.” She was concerned that her precious child would come to resent any sibling he got if he lost the full attention of his parents. So for now she would leave it as a thought in the back of her mind but she would give it some consideration. Maybe she could talk to Huang’we about it later on and see how he felt about the whole idea.
“Alright, that’s fair.” Zenith wasn’t going to push her or argue. He knew better than most that that was a sure fire way to get her to close up and keep everything bottled inside.

2nd Breeding - Hunter/Stage 3 - WC 501 (1pt)
It had taken some years but Ming had finally come back around to the idea of having more children. Haung’we had grown and she had given her whole focus to him and his needs but now that he was older she was really thinking. She missed when he was little. She missed the cuddles. Ming’we knew another child wouldn’t be a replacement for Haung, the boy would have to just accept that he would give her hugs even if he was older.
Since she was giving it some thought she walked into the main room of the house to find Zenith. The alk hybrid stopped in the doorway and tilted her head a little. Would their next child look like him? Or like Haung? Haung’we was a nice mix of the two of them. She had to wonder if they would look like her also. Her hair color would be interesting to see on their child. Ming smiled as she stared at her husband.
After a minute the icling finally looked up to notice that she was staring at him. He blinked a few times before he smiled. “What?” He was curious to know what he’d done to make her smile at him that way.
“Nothing.. I was just thinking.” She answered him easily. Moving a bit more into the room she came over to the chair he was sitting in. “Remember that thing you asked me about a few years ago?” It was a long shot but if he did then maybe she wouldn’t have to bring it up all on her own again.
“Hm? What thing?” Zenith gave her a slightly confused look. Did she really expect him to remember a conversation they’d had years ago? Then again if she was wanting to bring it up it had to be important. So what had they talked about that would be so.. “You mean about having another child?” His face lit up. Could it be that she was finally ready?
Ming’we nodded her head at him. “Yes that..” She leaned over the back of the chair so that she could put her face close to his. “I think maybe.. We could try.” She reached over and planted a kiss to his cheek. “Haung’we is older now and.. I have to admit that I miss having a little one.”
Her husband smiled at the kiss before he adjusted his position in the chair so that he could better look up at her. “I would always love to have more kids with you. So if you are ready then so am I.” After all it had been him who had brought it up a few years back. He hadn’t changed his mind since then. If anything Zenith was more for the idea now than he was before. He wanted to have a whole house full of children that looked like his wife. Of course he didn’t think Ming’we wanted that many.
“I think we should give it a go.” Ming finally replied.

This was the third week in a row that Ming’we had taken time to go and see the healer. The last time she and Zenith had tried for a child she hadn’t paid much attention to the results. This time around she was anxious. Surely the poor healer was tired of seeing her by now. Still, Ming had to know the soonest possible moment. She was anticipating this child so much and the longer it took the emptier her home felt. Granted Haung’we had many years yet to go before he could move out on his own so she didn’t need to worry so much.
As she walked into the small hut that served as the healer’s mini clinic she noticed that the woman was sitting at a table and picking leaves off a plant. She blinked a few times, waiting for her eyes to adjust better to the dim lighting. As her vision became clearer she cleared her throat to get the woman’s attention.
“You don’t need to do all that, I heard you come in. And I can see you. Dearie, you do stand out.” The healer turned her head toward Ming and smiled. She mentioned Ming’we’s appearance mainly because there wasn’t anyone else like her around for several towns.
“Sorry. I’m just anxious.”
“Like always.” The healer laughed as she picked another leaf off the plant in her hand. Her focus shifted back to the foliage she had in her hand so that she could strip it of a few more leaves before she put it down and motioned for her patient to come closer. “Come on, we’ll see what the results are today.”
Ming’we nodded and then swallowed rather hard. While she wanted to know she was also hesitant because what if she was told bad news again? Could she handle that? Would she cry like last time? It was embarrassing that this woman had seen her cry more than once and it wasn’t even over an injury. Still, she made her way over to the woman and sat down in the chair next to her.
“Do you think I’m curse to only have one child?” Had she waited too long? Should she have just tried for another baby when her husband brought it up last time? Ming looked down at the floor as all the what ifs came to mind.
“Dearie, things happen when they happen. Don’t be in a hurry.” She tutted Ming as she wiped her hands off on her apron. Once they were relatively cleaned she moved them over and toward her patient. “How is Zenith?”She had learned that distracting Ming’we worked best to ease her anxiety.
“He’s fine I guess. The man doesn’t seem to show if he’s nervous or anything.” Which had been an endearing trait before but now it got on her nerves a bit. As the healer did her thing Ming’we continued to talk. “I’m not even sure if he knows we’re trying for a second.” Wouldn’t that be something.
The healer nodded her head and sat back, her hands going to her lap as she smiled. “Oh? Well that could be a problem.”
“A problem? Do you mean he needs to be more proactive? We failed again?” Ming’we started to get teary eyed. “I’ll make sure he’s more into the idea then if it helps..”
A hand reached out and touched Ming’s to calm her down. “That’s not what I said. But if your husband isn’t aware that you’re trying for another child then he’s going to be in for a surprise.”
She slowly drew in a breath and then nodded. “Well yes.. I guess if he doesn’t realize what I’ve been doing then he might be taken back when it finally happens.”
“Silly girl.. You’ve already succeeded.” The healer had to chuckle at her patient.
“What? Really?” Ming’wa perked up at the news, a large grin forming but the tears in her eyes growing. They’d done it! Haung’we was going to be a big brother! “Oh! I need to go home and tell Zenith!” She stood up immediately and brought both hands to her belly.
“Just be careful and I’ll come see you for checkups just like when you had Haung’we.” The healer waved her off with a laugh.
