Nic wasn’t the only tactician. Reina smirked as she floated behind the waterfall. It was admittedly a bit harder to keep afloat since the falling water kept making small waves but she was managing for the most part. Thankfully the water was fresh and so she didn’t mind if she accidentally swallowed a bit here and there while she bobbed up and down. How long do I wait? She mused quietly as she swam back and forth behind the falling waters like some sort of fishy predator. If she moved too quickly then Nic would see her and get the advantage again but if she did it just right then perhaps she could really get a good splash on him! So she planned to wait under the water for just a few more minutes before launching an attack.
Her mischievousness died out whenever she heard the panic in Nic’s voice. Was he really that worried about her? Reina’s gaze softened as she carefully swam closer, her movements slow and quiet as she tried to sneak around Nicias. I can’t let him see that I’m upset that he’s upset...that’s not fair. She had finally found an advantage but he was so worried! Her heart felt funny in her chest. She didn’t want him to sound like that because of her. So Reina decided to just end her hiding charade and instead splashed up behind Nic, her arms wrapping around his waist in a surprise hug, “Gotcha!” She grinned as she kept her arms around him, her body floating slightly as she kept her legs treading in the water for balance.

The young boy jumped noticably when Rei finally came out of hiding to scare him. He may or may not have let out a little "AHH." He'd deny it later of course. Deciding she needed payback for scaring him half to death he pulled himself under forcing her to either go under with him or let him go. He didn't stay under for long of course, he surfaced again quickly. "Reina you scared me. Your Mom and mine would kill me if I let something happen to you." He pouted but only for a few moments. "Where had you been hiding?" Where ever it was, it was a good spot and he'd have to use it on his dad!

Reina grinned triumphantly at Nic’s reaction to her surprise attack. A success! She knew he would probably deny it later but it wouldn’t stop her from teasing him in the future. Her victory was short lived as they suddenly both went under, her arms tightening around Nic as she fought to keep balanced in the waters, and she couldn’t help but to sputter some water when they emerged, “Not fun, Nic.” She protested as she kept her grip on him, her heart slowly calming down after the surprise dunking. It hadn’t been as scary when she went under but when Nic did that she had been so startled! What if something was wrong? Could she carry both of them through the water? A flush decorated her cheeks before she finally let go and backed up slightly. It was fine - he was just messing with her after all. She supposed that she kinda deserved it for scaring him earlier. Bleh.
Her gaze did flicker with mixed emotions at his words before she quickly shook her head, “I think they would be more worried about you.” She admitted softly before forcing a small smile, “But let me show you! It’s a really cool place.” She didn’t want to linger on her comment much. She knew that her family loved her but when it came to the future of Oba….well that was on Nic and not her. Plus even she would feel bad if something happened to him because of her! So she would make certain to protect herself for sure, “Plus you’re silly for worrying like that. I’m tough, okay?” She added as an afterthought before starting to swim towards the waterfall, “Follow me!

Nic's prank was successful causing him to smile slightly even when she claimed it was no fun. He wouldn't have let her get hurt. Because he knew how scary Miss Varinia could look and he did NOT want to see that again. He remembered when he was younger and had been told to do something and being the typical boy said no. Oh he learned quickly to not use that word if he wanted to have any free time.
He shook his head, regardless of what she thought, he knew the status he held didn't matter that much to his mother or to Miss Varinia who was used to it from her long friend ship and work relationship with is mom. A mom was a mom, and they could be scary. He smiled, though, when she agreed to give up her hiding spot and he started swimming after her towards the waterfall. Could you really go back there? Is that where she had been?

"Okay so it's right this way." Reina grinned at Nic and held out her hand, "Hold hands so that you can stay close?" The waterfall was right before them and a mist sprayed towards them, almost like how the fountain did back at the palace. Oh, the palace. Reina glanced towards the sky thoughtfully before brushing the worry aside. The sun was still pretty high in the sky so she doubted that they would have to leave just yet. Plus, they were having so much fun that she wanted their adventure to last as long as possible! She may have been born in a desert city but Reina loved the water so much. Swimming in a place like this was an amazing experience and even more so because she got to spend the extra time playing with Nicias. Even though she wouldn't really admit that to him cause it was too embarrassing after all.

"Mkay." Nic said, grabbing her hand he follwed her under the waterfall. His eyes went wide even thought the mist from the water hitting the pool got in his eyes. "WHOA THIS IS COOL." He said watching and feeling the water crashing below the water on his legs. "I'll have to remember this. Thank you for showing me!" It was at that moment that his stomach decided to rumble and although it wasn't audible he started thinking of lunch. "Hey Rei, you starting to get hungry? My stomach is grumbling." If only he would have thought about bringing snacks before they left the palace!

Reina smiled as Nic explored around her new hiding spot, "This place is a secret but now we have our own secret place inside of it." She commented as she beamed at him, "So if we ever hear someone we can just hide out here until its safe so we don't get busted." The youngling slipped under the water again, feeling the vibrations of the water droplets as they splashed into the water's surface above her, and after a few moments she emerged against to hear Nic's suggestion. Food? Swimming did make her hungry after all. Reina pursed her lips because she knew it would mean that they would have to leave their spot, "We could go back and get some snacks then?" She mused quietly before glancing back to Nic, "But you have to convince the cook to let us sneak some of those fruit tarts again." They were her favorites and while it wasn't supposed to be a full meal Reina could eat several and call those her dinner. Maybe next time they came here they could sneak a basket from the kitchen with the tarts and some other snacks! That would be great.
"Let's head back~" She giggled before slipping under the water again and swimming towards the edge of the pool.

"Okay it's our little secret then." He said happily. He didn't mind not showing his dad, it'd be their little hideaway. Nic couldn't help but laugh at her enthusiasm for the tarts. He had to admit, they were pretty good. "I'll make sure the next time we sneak away that I grab some extra tarts. I just have to make sure the cook doesn't blab to our parents is all!" He followed her out of the waterfall and back towards the edge. "We wont have towels so hopefully nobody follows our trail or we dry off before then." He tried to ring out his clothes as best as he could so he wouldn't drip as much. "To the kitchens we go?"

"Deal." Reina giggled as she climbed out of the water. Shaking she tried to get a lot of the water from her clothing, "I suppose we can wait a few minutes and try to get some of the water out?" She twisted her tunic and watched as the water started to drip along the ground, "That's better." She twisted the material a few more times, even shook her dreads to fling off some of the water, and then shrugged. Surely it would work and it was already scorching hot so by the time they got back it should be okay, "Just walk in the shadowed areas so our droplets aren't so visible?" She suggested before trying to dry out her leggings the best that she could without taking them off. It would have to do she supposed.
Reina surveyed their secret spot one final time. It really was beautiful here and it was touching that Nic would share such a spot with her. The youngling smiled sheepishly as she glanced back at him. What was it that mama always did to show papa whenever she was super happy with something? Ah. A light flush decorated Reina's cheeks as she walked up to Nicias, "Thank you again for sharing this with me. It was fun." She commented before leaning forward to press a small kiss against his cheek. "To the kitchens!" Reina immediately gushed as she quickly moved away. Of course she immediately felt silly afterwards and had to dart away from him and back towards the way from which they had come from earlier. After a few feet she felt her cheeks cooling down and so she paused and waited for Nic to catch up, "Lead the way sir~"

"You're right, the sun will help dry us on the way." Once he was satisfied that he had gotten all the water out that he could he was ready to go. Rei once again thanked him and then gave him a kiss on the cheek. His cheeks heated up and he scratched the back of his neck nervously. "Of course I'd share my favorite place with my best friend." Nicias admitted quietly, unsure if she even heard him since she started dashing off after her display of affection. Of course she waited before she got too far. "Oh not concerned that I'll forget the way anymore?" He teased before catching up, grabbing her hand, and pulling her after him. "Onward!" He called out with a laugh, racing their way back along the paths, taking a few different turns that would take them closer to the kitchen instead of the garden they had met at earlier. Nic was glad for his decision to show her, it was definitely a day he'd never forget.
