▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✧✧✧ Thinking about what to do PRP - Mage - WC 962
Meeting up with her mother had been a long game of letter tag and near misses. Not that Masika had really minded. She knew her mother was wandering and that she had specific destinations but their timing was always off. More so on Masika’s part since she’d gotten lost on more than one occasion. Thankfully she’d managed to pick up a guard/guide along the way to help her get from one place to the next without losing any of her precious belongings, or herself.
In truth Masika enjoyed her time with Eurig. He was a sweet young man. The more time she spent with him the more she found that she wanted to meet his family so he could put faces to the names. She also was curious about the interactions she’d heard about on their trip.
Now as she sat at the table in a tavern, eating a nice meal, she also wondered what her next step was. V’demhe told her she was heading back toward Matori. Her mother wanted to go and check in on Valharii, Masika’s adopted little sister. Even though Val was a healer she did have to put up with the occasional rowdy client here and there. Which only further solidified the reasons behind why Masika had never gone that route as far as professions went. The water hybrid had the gentle personality required for healing but she was too afraid of everything and was more likely to panic that she was to be of any help.
So with her mother leaving to go south she was left with the decision to stay or follow. In truth she wanted to stay but she also wanted to go back home to the desert. Staying would allow her to see more of what the world had to offer without being a full fledged adventurer and would also let her spend more time with Eurig if he was up for it. Going back to Oba would mean getting back to her shop and the life she knew. Sewing needles and thread were something she was familiar with. Desert creatures were still dangerous, but more predictable to her.
When the clink of a cup being set down in front of her was heard she blinked and brought herself out of her thoughts so that she could offer a smile to the serving girl. A murmured thanks and she reached for the cup. Masika had ordered a simple juice from one of the local fruits. Something she’d discovered she really liked. It was sweet but not overpowering to the point she thought her teeth might rot. As she took a sip from it she looked around, being that it was midday there were a few people inside for their meal but it wasn’t too busy. She watched a couple in the corner talk while they ate, though she couldn’t hear their conversation. A table away from her she noticed a mother and young child who were sharing a meal. If Masika had to guess then she would say that it was too much for the little one to eat all on their own and the mother didn’t mind sharing. The smiled from the child were adorable too. And there were the odd single client here and there at other random tables that she glanced at as well.
What stood out the most to her was the couple. She watched their interactions closely, without seeming like a stalker, and wondered what it would be like to have something similar. The hybrid lady had only really had some friends in her life and the few small crushes she’d experienced had never gone anywhere beyond that. Either distance made the feelings sputter out and die or something was said or done to make her not want to explore those feelings more.
It made her wonder if perhaps she should focus more on her love life instead of her work life. Lowering her gaze she looked into her cup to study its contents. The juice was semi-clear but in the darkness of the cup one couldn’t tell that. Masika tipped the cup to the side to watch the liquid move but when she still couldn’t see anything beyond the shadow of the cup she decided not to press her luck. Instead she brought the cup to her lips and finished off the drink that was in it.
When the cup was empty she set it on the table and only eyed the rest of her meal. Masika wasn’t too hungry anymore but didn’t want to waste what she had. So she looked around at the room then to the side to see if she could locate the serving girl. When the girl noticed that she was looking she came over, likely trained to recognize when a patron might need something.
“Can I help you miss?” The girl seemed well spoken.
“Yes, I don’t think I can finish this but I don’t want it to go to waste.” Masika worried slightly, biting her lip after speaking.
“Oh. Well, if you want to give it away then I can feed one of the orphan children that come by the back door.”
She instantly nodded her head at that. Feeding a child was always better than letting things go to waste. “That is a lovely choice.”
The serving girl took her plate and nodded to her before walking toward the back. Masika stayed seated for just a little bit longer before getting up and walking toward the front door. She needed to let her mother know what her decision was. It was just interesting to her that it wasn’t adventure that got her to stay but the idea of trying to find someone to share her life with.
(( Masika makes the decision to stay in the northern territories instead of going back to Oba with her mother. ))
