"Well, then. You are a baby, and this is baby's first Christmas." Chara was being silly now, and he knew it, brushing off the little bit of glitter from his shoulder. He didn't really think he'd like the kitten as much as he would, but Chip was quickly growing on him. "It'll be our first Christmas together then, as Senshi and Baby Kitten. So I'll figure out a way to get a fancy meal, and a little tree and... Maybe some presents. You'd have to pick me out a present in secret though. It's supposed to be a surprise." He shifted the kitten from one arm to another, and then went deeper into the Christmas section, flipping on different trees to see them sparkle in the dark light. "First a tree... We need one that fits in my Barrack room."

“What about... that one?” Chip asked, lifting a paw in the direction of the absolute biggest tree in the lineup. “It’d fit...probably. But the top might bend a little.” He gazed up at the trees. How pleasingly...angular they all were. “What’s the tree for, anyway? To show off how big and spiky a thing you can put up is? I mean, I could make you a big metal one, I bet! It’s not too hard to forge some stuff back in the Castle...just gotta find some metal for that.” “Oh, maybe I can...” he trailed off, then. “Oh, right. seeecret.” The little cat’s head bobbed quickly. “Not gonna tell ya~”

"That's too big. I want something big enough to touch the ceiling, not big enough that it has to bend to ceiling's whims." That mega huge one was immediately crossed off the list. Where would he even put it when the holiday's were done? "I mean, you could, but that's just extra work. Why make it when we can grab it from here? But anyway." He set the kitten down on a nearby shelf. "You go look for a gift or whatever, and I'll find something too."

"That's true," Chip replied, nodding thoughtfully. "Your tree's not very strong if it has to bend to the roof's whims!" As he was let down, he clarified, "A stolen gift?" the nodded. "I'm sure I can find something!" Without waiting for a reply, he dashed off down the shelf, knocking over several small holiday decorations in the process. That distracted him a moment, as he stopped to look down at them, before giggling and knocking down a couple more things before moving along. A few minutes later, he returned to the area with a new tiny santa hat on top of his regular cap, and a splash of glitter across his side. Something burst when he knocked it down, perhaps. "I found something!" he declared triumphantly, climbing atop a tree to pose dramatically. "And hid it away in my space pocket!"

Chip was just too damned precious, and after he darted off, Chara allowed himself to grin. Okay, alright, he'd have to admit, Hess had picked him a pretty good petty crime partner. Especially since he seemed to love purposely creating chaos on a whim, just like Chara did. And he was tiny and portable, plenty perfect to put into a pocket or into a baby carrying thing if he was being too rowdy. He was pleased. And so began his own little 'shopping spree', shoving a few things here and there into his own space pocket to give people and to decorate his Barracks room in. Right when he was about to call for Chip himself, the Kitten called him first, dangling from a tree like a fluffy little Ornament. "You have, huh? Well, now you have to keep it a secret until Christmas." Was the kitten even capable of keeping secrets? He was a tiny little chatterbox. Chara extended his hand under the kitten, inviting him to step down from the tree and get back on his shoulder. "I think I'm all done too. Your hat's pretty cute, I approve."

Among other things, Chip may have also collected a few examples of regular, not-mau-influenced tech from the store. They were hidden behind locked glass doors, but locks were such simple devices... But those weren't gifts. Those were research. He was confident that his own creations (built upon mauvian creations of the past, of course) were superior, but maybe he'd have some good ideas from one of these things. At the very least, they'd be fun to smash. "When's Christmas?" he asked curiously. "And why does it have to wait 'til then? Is it when we go back to the castle?" Waiting until the dramatically appropriate moment made sense to him, but a certain day that just had a name? How odd. "I thought it looked good up there, so I had to keep it," he said, referring to the little santa hat. It used to belong to a doll, but that thing didn't need it. He "climbed" down the tree by stepping further out on one of its very weak branches, and using a shiny ball like a little sled. At the last moment, he hopped off (onto the soft tree again) and it smashed the ground with a satisfying crash. He giggled, of course.

"It's.. Soon, ish?" Without anything specific to do, the days melted together for Chara. But honestly, for all he knew, it was already December. "We have to wait because... Uh.. Tradition?" Once Chip got back on the ground, he was promptly picked up, cradled gently in the Eternal's arms. "Heck, I don't know, but I just feel like we gotta listen to that whole tradition thing. No reason not to, no reason to listen either, but anticipation for something nice sometimes motivates you to do better, or be better behaved. Bad people don't get gifts, and we're not bad people, so we just need to keep being not-bad." ... He was confusing himself. "... Anyway, ready to go back home?"

“Oh, okay,” Chip replied, nodding. “I guess I understand having tradition...But that means you won’t know what I got you yet, either!” He giggled, and squirmed around, lightly brushing himself against Chara. He certainly didn’t mind being held. “I’m ready to go,” he agreed, nodding. “Got all I need from here~ It’s been fun!”

“And you won’t know what I got you, so we’re even.” Ugh... how could something so tiny and kinda irritating be so cute? It came too easy to simply scratch his ears a few times as he was nuzzled against. “Alright, home we go. You can spend the night in my room. I got a pillow with your name on it.” Without waiting for confirmation, he teleported right back into his barracks room. “Maybe we should wash some of the glitter off you first.”

Chip blinked, and he was back in negaspace. Always a bit weird of an experience...but weirdness made life more interesting. “Wash it off?” He asked, incredulous and flicking his tail. “Why? I was thinking about making a machine to make more glitter! Why, all that sparkly would make the castle so much more, uh... festive! Yeah!” He giggled. There was a chance he wasn’t serious... ...Then again, there was a chance he was.

“Don’t you dare start shaking that body of yours!” Chara bolted right out of his bedroom, down the barrack’s halls and towards the shared bathroom area. He’d be damned of the herpes of the crafting world contaminated his bedroom! For added emphasis on how displeased he was with the prospect of glitter, he held Chip all the way out at arms length, letting his little body dangle just a little bit. “You can make all the rest of the castle glittery and what not, but not my room. We don’t party where we sleep, got it?”

Chip dangled. As such a small cat, he had no real issues being held like that, although he did exude an air of mild disappointment. "No glitter...?" he asked. "Okaaay, fine~ Glowing things are better anyway!" Which prompted him to launch into a rambling explanation of different methods of impressive glow--some of which seemd a bit over the top and utilized questionable power methods (where exactly *did* those crystals all around come from, anyway?) Ultimately, though, after considerable amounts of rambling (which was unimpeded by being freed of glitter), he concluded that regular lights like the ones he "acquired" at target would work best.

Was this how it was like to have a kid? The non-stop chattering? The way that even when splashed with water and blowdried, he still kept going and going and going like there was no tomorrow? It was weird, and kinda frustrating, but Chara couldn't say he disliked it. At some point it became kinda like just listening to the radio. He couldn't fully hear it, but he did register it enough to either agree or go 'is that so?'. And by the time Chip seemed to be settling down, Chara was back in his room, cradling the kitten in his arms. "If you ever need more, we can get more. But aren't you tired yet?" Holding the kitten in one arm, Chara started prepping for bed, getting an extra pillow and plopping it down near where his own head would normally go. "You should rest up. You're going to be staying here from now on."

"Maybe a little," Chip allowed, shaking himself around before plopping onto the offered pillow. "I guess it'd be nice to not always sleep in any random place around, or in my machines," he said, kneading the pillow a little. "Hmm, squishy," he mused... ...and then rolled over onto his side. Amazingly, he seemed to already be asleep.

... Children were weird. Atleast child-Chip was weird. One second he was talking and thinking, and then he was asleep. And it was charming. How could it not be when he just fell right asleep on his side, as content as can be? Chara only smiled to himself and took the hat on Chip’s head off, setting it off to the side before climbing into bed himself, head close to Chip’s tiny body. And for the first time since he had corrupted, he felt calmed. It was hard to be so angry when something so small and, in his own way, pure was by his side. While he laid there and closed his eyes to try to sleep, he made a promise to himself, to protect this little kitten that he had now claimed as his own. And it was a promise he swore to keep, starting with some Negaverse Lieutenant named Tetra first thing in the morning.
