T'rin and Blue IngonthIngonth and his rider were not nervous types. In fact, gaining his blue had increased T'rin's confidence tenfold, and where he had once made an effort to hide his missing fingers, the young man now pulled on his gloves with a theatrical snap and a chuckle under his breath. He knew it wasn't entirely true, but his dragon told him he was perfection every day, and that was good enough for him.
"We're going to Southern Boll first," he said, patting at Ingonth's neck. "Are you ready?"
Are you? It's been made clear to me that you are the star of the show here, as much as I might resent it. But I know I'll be very proud and not very dead at the end of this, so come on already. I want to be home again so I can tell Fahn how wonderfully I did. The dragon practically struck a pose before picking up speed and launching into the air. T'rin grinned as he directed one last wave at Cavera before they disappeared Between.

What is wrong with your coordinates, my K'ell? These aren't right at all, the brown insisted, giving his rider a sharp mental nudge. Upon checking with the Weyrlingmaster it was clear that, indeed, K'ell had somehow gotten them mixed up.

We have this, we're perfectly fine.

This time, K'ell was very careful when giving Eskharath the coordinates, and they blinked to their next destination with no difficulty at all.

Your heart isn't in this. You're going to get us killed! Such words from Eskharath jolted K'ell out of his distraction, and he was able to correct his coordinates at the last moment.

But their luck was not to last. Although they had made the leap to High Reaches many times before, K'ell's thoughts strayed to another place. Another time. Another him. Perhaps it was his imagination. Perhaps it was exhaustion sweeping through him, but it seemed for one shining moment that he had seen a familiar face. All was black around him and Eskharath, who reached out from between one final time to cry out to his mother. Mother! he cried, but there was nothing to greet him. Only silence, going on and on, and on. Cold and dark, with no one to reassure the Brown that he had been everything his sire and dame had once imagined he might be.
It hadn't been intentional. K'ell had not wanted to die. But as the seconds passed, there was no return. Only nothingness, forever and always. Lost to the cold dark of between, the pair fell through space and time, to someplace that neither could touch. Closing his eyes in that nothing, K'ell held tightly to his dragon, until, at last...

Soui, and white Museth:
STATS: Distraction/Intensity: 5 Exhaustion/Alertness: 4 Memorization/Visualization: 5 Anxiety/Confidence: 3 Slacker/Studiousness: 5
Museth....we can do this. We're going to do this. Soui tightened the straps on her gear one more time before pressing her face against the wide head of her lifemate. I...I wish Tsu was here. And Yudu. There was no hiding the fear that tinged the edges in her voice, but Museth easily soothed it over.
The white's rumble of confidence was welcomed. When we master this, we'll sneak over to see them. There was humor there, as both knew they'd never break the rules. It'll be our secret, little love. With that, they were mounted and up.
Time for them to fly.

"Um." Soui bit into her lip as she prepared for the first jump, her mind doing her best to picture where they needed to go. She was so sure she had it specifically down to almost even a single blade of grass, but the sound of her own heartbeat had her second-guessing. Museth, sorry...but I'm going to ask to make sure.
No need to apologize. Museth seemed to understand and followed through when her rider popped the directions. They came out where they needed to be, though there would be no denying the beads of sweat along Soui's brow. No sooner had the white dragon moved to congratulate her rider than she paused, her eyes whirling a painful reddish white. No! Careful to keep herself aloft, Museth spun herself as she keened with intense mourning. My brother!! My brother!! Eskharath!
It seemed quite surreal, as Museth was not the type to speak often of affection for family, but it slapped Soui hard in the chest. K'ell was gone? What....?

If you have a a 3 or lower in Slacker/Studiousness levels, perhaps you needed more fear of Between because something goes wrong and you fail to return and are lost forever... unless you get your coordinates checked.
If you have an exhaustion level of 1 and this is your fourth roll or fifth roll, you're just too tuckered out and start getting sloppy. You wind up making a fatal error... Unless you get your coordinates checked. Also, if this is the second time you roll this, and if you don't fail an NPC will in your stead. DM Uta so she can iron out which NPC winds up on the chopping block! We have this! Aviforth was practically dancing as Cavera strapped herself in, patting his neck affectionately. Let's focus on getting through this, first. She'd said her goodbyes, had wished T'rin luck before she'd gotten ready. Hmm, do you think you should tell him--
No. I have no idea what you're talking about. Let's go.She called the coordinates of Runnercraft Hall to mind, and they vanished ... But the crafthall soon appeared beneath them.

There was a dark determination coloring Soui's directions as she gave Museth their next set of coordinates. She couldn't mourn now - a good healer never showed their emotions in moments of high need - and so she bit it all back and prompted Museth towards Dark Woods hold. She'd never been their personally until now, and as the bite of Between faded and they came out safely, she could say she had.
